Labor Unions, Republicans Scare Off Inslee Roadless Amendment to Interior Approps That Would Have Cost Jobs
Amendment opponents rally to protect jobs,
fire prevention efforts
Washington, D.C. Labor unions and resource-minded Republicans joined forces this week to successfully fend off a proposed amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill that would have cost countless western jobs and hampered forest managers efforts to prevent wildfires in parched western forests.
Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Washington, announced plans to enforce President Clintons flawed roadless rule which is in federal litigation through an amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill. The amendment would have prohibited federal funding for forest management activity in the 57 million acres of federal forestland that President Clinton proclaimed as roadless in a hasty administrative order in the waning days of his presidency.
The amendment would have prohibited several fire prevention activities, including the use of backfires, which has been successful in saving western towns threatened by looming fire this season. The U.S. Forest Service has reported that more than a third of the land in the roadless area -- 22 million acres is at moderate to high risk for forest fire during one of the most devastating wildfire seasons in recent memory.
Republicans teamed with several labor unions, including the Forest Service Council of the National Federation of Federal Employees, the Western Council of Industrial Workers, The Woodworkers District I of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. The combined effort to protect jobs and prevent wildfires prompted Rep. Inslee to redraft his proposed amendment several times before withdrawing it altogether.
Chairman Scott McInnis:
In my opinion the support just wasnt there to put a straight-jacket on the Forest Services ability to manage and prevent catastrophic fires in our nations forests.>
I think it is now clear that Members of Congress who represent areas not impacted by these destructive fires have gained a perspective on the importance of managing our nations forests.

This is good, good news! As one that fought the roadless thingy through 1999 and 2000, I can say that it would have been bad, bad news for the country if Inslee had succeeded.
Inslee needs to be voted out! Hope the folks in Washington will see this and put in somebody that actually has Washington's best interests at heart!

Thanks for the good news.
These enviral fascists like INSLEE never give up.
The in your face behavior of this enviral fascist as a large part of Oregon is burning up to dare to "enforce President Clintons flawed roadless rule which is in federal litigation through an amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill. The amendment would have prohibited federal funding for forest management activity in the 57 million acres of federal forestland that President Clinton proclaimed as roadless in a hasty administrative order in the waning days of his presidency."
Show's how dangerous and these enviral facists are.
Where is his district, the Seattle Cesspool?
This why we need more conservatives in the house and need to kick out about 10 rats rerunning for the Senate.
These Enviral Fascists never stop. They work 24/7 pushing their Rural Cleansing agendas. Forest road closure stops preventive maintenance to prevent forest fires and makes the forests into the tinder boxes that are burning today.
Fires are a Rural Cleansing tool of the most rabid of the Eco Facists.

Where is his district, the Seattle Cesspool? Inslee's in the First District, basically Eastside and usually pretty conservative, but now inundated with SUV-driving yuppies heeled with Microsoft money. He's a classic Seattle antigun liberal, taking Republican Rick White's seat two elections ago after a particularly nasty Democrat campaign of personal destruction centered around the latter's divorce. This miserable creature is my "representation" in Congress, and Cantwell and Murray misrepresent me in the Senate. Pray for Washington state.

I'll trade you for a DiFazio in near-mint condition. Wanna trade?

Thanks for the dismal feedback/reality to this eco facist who is trying to use massive forest fires to rurally cleanse those of us who live around forested areas.
He sounds like the worst nightmare we can have in congress. He is a watermelon, gun grabber and hates most Americans.
Pray for all us on the west coast with our enviral governors, enviral congressits, senators, big city mayors and the scum who vote for these criminals.
This roadless agenda that he tried to push during these forest fires throughout the West shows the contempt that he has for those chose to live and work in rural America.
He should be a cell mate of the UniBomber instead of a Congressit!

Let's not forget to thank Congressman Scott McGinnis who always stands up for property rights and individual freedom.
To: Billthedrill
Hey Bill,
Let's get Joe Marine elected and oust the dimmest of the Dims, Inslee.
