I have mixed emotions on this one.....on the one hand, what they did was reprehensible but on the other hand, at least they wrote something.

Good God! Political correctness run amok. They want to expel a couple of stupid High School freshmen for being stupid? They are kids! Kids are stupid. Give them a months detention. Make them right on the blackboard 1,000 times, "I will not make false racist threats to get out of class" and be done with it.

Expelling these stupid kids for this is way, way overkill. Even in today's racially charged climate of hypersensitivity. School prinicpals really have lost their minds and have no clue how to administer justice anymore. Everything is zero-tolerance or complete acceptance. They can't rule in the gray areas anymore. Good God!

Blaming whites for racial attacks they do not commit should be intolerable. Unlike people who point chicken fingers at someone and say "pow pow", or scouts who park near the school after returning from a camping trip with a hatchet in the car, what the people here did was deliberately intended to be hurtful to other people.

The sooner we can make clear that bearing false witness is a serious crime, the sooner we can end it. [nb: the Law of Moses specifies IIRC that those who bear false witness may be put to death; although the term as used there is more specific than "lying", I think it would be applicable in this case].

I would not be surprised if many of them were. Of course, I also wonder if any of these places had any accounting problems that conveniently "went away" when all their records were destroyed.

I disagree with you that you should treat these stupid 15 year old girls the same as you would treat a mature adult in the workforce of this same type of racial hoax. The reason we do not allow 15 year old girls to consent to having sex with mature adult men is becaus 15 year old girls by the very nature of their youth are still fairly ignorant and have much to learn of life. They are capable of some very stupid decisions. These girls are merely reflecting what they are being force-fed by the Jesse Jackson's of the world. Want to punish someone? You may be right that expulsion is something of an overreaction. On the other hand, I think it needs to be made abundantly clear that this sort of thing is no laughing matter and will not be tolerated. Unfortunately, there's no way to punish Jesse Jackson for the actions of his "followers"; that man deserves to be run out on a rail and thrown in a garbage dump.

Hell, at least they didn't start a fire. Look what happened in my daughter's high school when one of the kids wanted to get out of school for the day. The school was closed for a week, the gym was closed for the year. Damage was in the millions vs. $1000 in restitution. Hey, I want reparations, the town's insurance went up. Many of the kids (my daughter included) had water damage to their books. The Perp was one of a only handful (10?) of Blacks in a school of about 1600. This incident followed a spat of bomb threats which resulted in classes being disrupted and kids standing around outside in the weather.

CAMBRIDGE MA - November 22, 1999, Cambridge District Court Judge Jonathan Brant sentenced an Acton girl charged with setting two fires at the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School.

Ashlee Sharpe, age 16, was sentenced to Department of Youth Services custody until the age of 21, a sentence Judge Brant suspended on the condition that Sharpe complete 200 hurs of community service, pay $1000 restitution, participate in a juvenile fire setters program, undergo any psychiatric counseling deemed necessary by probation, and complete her high school education. According to authorities, on April 15, 1999, Ashlee Sharpe set two separate fires in the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. The fires caused significant damage to the school, and required the evacuation of all students and school personnel. Sharpe was arrested the next day. On May 27, she was indicted as a youthful offender on two counts of burning a building. On October 7, she pled guilty to both counts.
