I have a little black cat and I never let her out of my sight...My precious black and white Maisey now gets walks around the yard on a leash. Who knows what stupid neighbors might do? And I live in an excellent suburb.
Perp of this kitten torture should be fried in vat of hot oil until dead.

#55...Well said!
Post 55 was well said.
We identify with some poor kitty grilled on a barbie....(& should!)...
..and the sick guy will probably get solid jail time for this.
What we, as a nation, don't identify with, are cute little babies being sucked out of their Mom's womb because those are pictures too gruesome......and of course, Planned Parenthood wants to protect our sensibilities.....(and their bank account!)
It does seem (& I heard this discussed even today)...that those who mistreat or kill animals, get a stiffer sentence than someone who mistreats or kills a baby.

The Clay County Prosecutors number is 816-792-7657.
Some of the local radio talk shows of course are discussing this... perhaps they could get some email letting this lady know she did the right thing and is supported.
Tom Becka on 980 KMBZ has a morning show before Rush - You can email Tom at tbecka@kmbz.com
George Woods morning show Email: gwoods@susqkc.com
and Dan Roberts afternoon show, droberts@susqkc.com are both on 710 KCMO

I agree with post 61 except to say that it doesn't necessarily lead to cruelty to humans. That's all.

"If you have any spare venison or wild turkey, drop me a note. Squirrel's mighty tasty, too."Sure will. Yep, squirrels are tastey...a combo of squirrel, rabbit and grouse make a GREAT meat base for chile. I make chile or stew out of them when we don't have enough of any one kind in the freezer to make a meal.
You never heard hunters termed "sportsmen"? In PA, the game commission INSISTS on it. They thought it'd cut down on hunting accidents. It didn't, of course, and it gave the envirowackos more fuel to fight hunting. I thought everyone had heard that term.

After all, if our hero had a gun, she could have shot the b&st&rd and probably saved us a lot of grief from our kitty griller's future work. That would have been my preferred approach. One round into the ground to get his attention and if he didn't immediately retrieve the cat from the coals, one into his closest knee.
I'm as big a meat-eater as anyone here, but I will not abide some retard abusing an animal for sport.

re post 65. To put it simply. I believe that the important thing about every human endeavor is not what we do but WHY we do it. If I have extra kittens and I put them in a bag and brain 'em with a bat and throw 'em in the garbage, I am being a steward, like when I put out rat traps.
If, on the other hand, I beat 'em to listen to 'em scream, I am doing something wrong. No argument with you there.
My main point is that there are much worse wrongs that people can do that really bother me. When Jesus used the parable of the lost sheep it was, in fact, a PARABLE. The listeners (and we)could relate because they knew how valuable a sheep, as an investment, was. And it was, in fact, property!
When I hear of people doing what these people did, it makes me very sad. Not for the kitten, but for the people participating in the activity. Theirs are the souls Jesus died for, not the kittens. They are demonstrating a lack of respect for His creation and a lack of respect for themselves.
We ALL do it in other ways. Theirs is just more emotionally charged for most people than using drugs or prostitution.
Animals are, in fact, property and need to be cared for as such.
Shoot, did anyone on this thread spend any time on a ranch or farm? Is this all just city folk here? Animals are most definitely NOT people and should never come close to LEGALLY rising to that level!

I have a special place in my heart for those who kill or injure defenseless life. I would love to invite this piece of excrement to my isolated home for a meal on the grill......just he and I and no witnesses.
You know, there are a multitude of accidents that occur around the home and I can guarantee he would be involved in several.

I meant to say I never thought about the term (sportsmen) being inappropriate.

What is Scott's part in all of this REALLY? There's a hunge chunk of the story behind the story that must be missing.. My impression is that Benoit's friends who were not arrested are threatening Scott in an effort to protect him. Attempting to intimidate the witness - .
They are all equally guilty scum.

You agree that psychotoc killers frequently start out by torturing anamals, and that most of them have a tendency to consider both humans and animals to be walking meat, but you keep repeating that the torture of animals doesn't NECESSARILY lead to the torture of humans, as if the exception should be more important than the rule.
Who are you trying to convince here? Several of us simply pointed out the factual behavioral link between animal torture/human torture. So why is it so important for you to convince...err...whomever it is you're trying to convince that animal torture doesn't ALWAYS lead to human torture?
Like I said before : get help.

Re post 103. You are quite right and I stand corrected. All my life I thought that word meant you were not terribly concerned about the well being of the one to which you were malevolent.
Learn something new every day.
BTW, what I was trying to say was that I could sincerely enjoy watching a cow grow up, playing with it and enjoying it's personality - even protecting it - all the time knowing I was going to kill it and eat it when the time was right.

I lived on a small farm, yes we ate our chickens. But if I
had done anything like these people did, my Dad would
have slapped me silly. And he was not a religious man.
but he respected life.

Pious claptrap.Maybe, but also true...
I daresay no one on this thread has tortured a defenseless creature as this thug has done. We have every right to criticize his actions.
Yes you do, and I will say right here and now that I, too, think it was a terrible thing to do. Just not THAT terrible. It's just a kitten, for crying out loud. And his own, to boot.
Yeah, he's got a screw loose in my opinion, but so does everyone, in one way or another. As long as he's not hurting anybody (as in humans), I prefer to steer clear of him - but leave him alone until he has actually threatened or harmed a human or their property.
This article shows no evidence of that.

"I meant to say I never thought about the term (sportsmen) being inappropriate"OOOH. I sit corrected. the term "sportsman" has been a special peeve for me ever since they started the thing, and the S.P.O.R.T. program back in the '70's. I took the hunters safety course while they were starting that up, and since I was already active in conservation (NOT the new kind) I KNEW what would come as soon as the wackos got hold of the term to use for their propaganda.
They got hold of it...used it as a rallying cry...I can't remember the name of the idiot envirowacko who coined "I support the right to arm bears" slogan...but he was inspired by this sportsmanship thing...the envirowackos organized, and took over all aspects of conservation and management of renewable resources...the rest is recent history.

What animals "feel" is not what I would interpret as "suffering" in the human sense.
Not sure what your stupid ass statement was supposed to mean but animals, any animal for that matter feels the same excruciating pain as you and I.
Suffering is merely the prolonged endurement of such pain. For any person to do what they did to that creature is inexcusable.
I don't give a rats ass of if it was a squirrel, skunk, opossum or whatever.
No creature on this earth should be subjected to torture, especially the excruciating pain of being deliberately burned to death......
