that was quite a post on the last thread.....

The only information I have on the Tanners is a little reference to them in a book I read several years ago.."Mormon Murders"...I think I do remember them as being anti-LDS....

I went and read the thread on the missing girl in Anchorage...not too many posters though....maddening that the cops wait so long to get fingerprints and in other words...take things seriously...

Any recommendations on what is a nice little doggie to get? I am NOT a "dog person" but I sure can see that dogs deter bad guys.0

I have three pugs....the best with kids.
They are not yappers but sure let you know when someone is outside.
My one male pug, Butch is the fav of the neighborhood, all the kids come to play with him.....DO NOT get a pug if you do not like lap-dogs or bed buddies.....We do not own pugs, they own us......LOL

Dogs, and big gun! I have a yappy dog..(yorkie) not good for attacking, but good for forewarning. That's where the gun comes in.

I knew a fellow that had custody of his two young girls, one 7 and one 11. All were in bed asleep, with their doors closed. The girls had bunkbeds. Mr. X heard a noise and thought that it was his air-conditioner, (wasn't sure) but he did go into the hallway and get his pistol. He put an ear to his girls' room before entering. When he heard something going on, he opened the door, and a man had his eldest daughter by the throat and was trying to drag her through the now, open window. When I asked him what happened next, he told me that without hesitation, he put a bullet right between the guy's eyes. Good thing he was a sharpshooter.

What a story, too bad this wasn't broadcast far and wide! Guess I should at least have a dog and while having a dog, learn about guns and shooting them.

We will have to look into pugs then! My guess is they don't shed very much and I'll bet they are house trained really early.

As well you should, cherry. I had an incident where someone was trying to get in through my girls' bedroom window. If you think that I would have waited for them to get in, to see if they were 'dangerous'..well, let's just say that the cops told me that I had darn, well, better make sure that they had something sharp in their hands. :)

"my 17 year old is down stairs by herself"

Yep, I recall those days in my parents' basement, and I loved it there! The freezer(in the basement) was full of chocolate chip cookies and I sneaked a few here and there. Thankfully, I was on the swim team so the cookies didn't do much damage!

Okay, Ricci's hearing is delayed BUT
WHY? The latest report is "scheduling
conflict of a prosecutor". Yesterday
some of you quoted FOX NEWS that they
were pressuring/negotiating w/Ricci to
get case-breaking info on Elizabeth...
So NOW what do you think? Is the later
report a "cover" for the real deal???

Arghh, unfortunately, pugs shed more than any dog I have ever had! I could brush her 20 times a day, and I come up with a new "puppy" every time. :)

They shed(all dogs do, don't let a breeder tell you different) but are very easily trained and adore children.

I've read that pugs are among the most difficult to housetrain and they shed year-round...or maybe you already know this and were being funny? LOL! Pug facts

Hi Brigette, I thought you might want to see these too..sorry if they've been posted before. I've not checked the links in a few weeks..so don't know if their pages have been updated.

In 1998, there were an estimated 749,100 missing juveniles reported to the police and entered into the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC 1999, 1). The circumstances under which juveniles were missing follows:

97,200 juveniles were missing in the company of another person under circumstances indicating that his or her safety was in danger (NCMEC 1999).
28,745 juveniles were missing under circumstances indicating that the disappearance was not voluntary (Ibid.).

Blue Oval Campaign
According to NCMEC reports, the state of Texas ranked second last year with more than 60,000 children reported missing -- behind only California. In Houston, 5,641 children were reported missing in 2001

Statistics indicate that more than one third of parents do not know their child's exact height, weight and eye color -- information critical to expediting the return of a missing child. Each child's physical description information will be recorded in the ID kit along with a photograph and set of fingerprints.

According to FBI data, missing children reports in 2001 dropped to 725,000 -- about 2,000 per day -- the lowest annual total in a decade. More than 13,000 children were reported missing in the state of Michigan -- nearly 1,000 kids from the Detroit area.

Pugs are great.. we have three dogs.. all in the house, especially when our grandchildren are visiting..we live in the country and know our dogs are great first line barriers..we have a German Pom - he has terrific ears.. hears cars tht pull into our drive almost 1/2 mile away.. he is also loud..we have a chow.. black.. very protective of the children, but actually a sweet baby.. he does SHED!!! then we have a Standard Poodle.. 92 pounds... everyone is frighten when they see him, but he is a gentle, wonderful dog.. my son takes him hunting.. he is a great water dog, good with ducks (very gentle mouth)... in the country you need dogs and of course, the ever loaded little gun...
By the way... the poodle does not shed... they have different fur... but they are expensive to keep up... we spend about $100 a month in grooming... on all three...
Happy hunting for pups..
