Prayer Request for Basil
Posted on 07/11/2002 5:42:45 PM PDT by pesto
I am trying to start a prayer chain for my mom, Basil. She had a heart attack this morning.(A minor one, thank God). She is awake and alert, and we believe her to be okay. She asked me to start a prayer chain for her here, but I don't know how..if somebody reading this could start one, I'd be thankful.

My thoughts are with her. But I suspect she's tougher than boot leather and no heart attack is going to slow HER down.

I had the pleasure of meeting your Mom at the rally of SAS. One determined lady and one to be proud of. The Lord does work in mysterious ways, your Mom may be interested to know that a 'Healing Mass' will be taking place in one of the local towns this day at 12 noon. I will be attending, not only for my own medical problems but I will certainly keep Basil in my thoughts and prayers. By the way, Basil, this is Deb's Mom wishing you God speed in your recovery....

Prayers for your mom, and seek a second opinion in about a year.
They said my husband had a mild heart attack 2 years ago and put him through an angiogram (which showed nothing) and diagnosed it as a spasm attack (unpreventable). A second doctor (head of cardiology at the best heart hospital in Milwaukee) reviewed his records (which includes the whole angiogram on CD Rom) and proclaimed that he had not had an attack at all. His elevated blood levels (the only basis for his diagnosis) were merely from the stress of felling trees during a September heat wave. This put us through a year of unbelievable worry, $25,000 in hospital bills, high drug bills with unpleasant side effects, elevated insurance rates, etc.
The medication he had been on for the year after his supposed "attack" could have actually increased his chances of dying if he were to have suffered a real attack because his body would have developed a certain immunity to the desired calming effect of the medication.
We are glad our internist encouraged us to seek a second opinion. I have a feeling that the original diagnosis was made to cover someone's a$$ for the insurance claim.

Pesto, I had no idea Basil's offspring was on FR! So pleased to "meet" you! I love it when our kids become the torchbearers.
I didn't check FR yesterday so I am reading this for the first time this morning and can't find an update in this loooong thread.
Please tell your mom that Dianne and Larry send their love and prayers and to get well soon - with no back talk! :-)
Tell your Dad we're thinking about him too. You are so fortunate to have such wonderful parents. I love them both dearly.

Glad to hear that Basil appears okay. Modern medicine can help alot when a chance is given--think Dick Cheney. Prayers and bump...

Basil introduced me to FR, and has been a good friend ever since. She will certainly be in my prayers, along with all of your family.

Gentle hugs and prayers for Basil. You tell her we all said to get well and get back!!! TONS of prayers going up to the Father.

Oh.. and the reason she probably asked for this prayer chain, is because she knows not only do a TON of people start praying for her right now.. but even people who lurk. She has seen first hand the power of prayer that can come from all of us here at FR joining together in our requests. :o)
Some amazing things have happened here!!

Most (if not ALL) on my prayer ping list have already responded. But what the heck, I'm gonna hit the list anyway!
Pesto, your mom and I go way back to growing up around Beaumont, though we never met until the FR Impeachment Rally in D.C. several years ago. We became good friends then.
Some amazing things have happened here!!
VH&W, I can attest to that!
