A Bush Hater's Poll
Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:27:06 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

This is an unofficial quick and dirty presidential poll. Apparently, there is a good sized contingent on Free Republic that believes that President Bush is:

  1. Not conservative enough
  2. Not pro-life
  3. Is a gun-grabber
  4. Is a federal power-grabber
  5. Will appoint liberal judges
  6. Is a globalist
  7. Is in it just for oil
  8. Is too soft on immigration
  9. Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel
  10. Is a crook
  11. All of the above
  12. None of the above
  13. Other (you name it)

Please list the numbers that best match the reasons you don't like Bush (or state other reasons if not on the list) and state whether you believe that President Bush should be defeated even if it means installing a Democrat in the Whitehouse.

Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.

Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.

Thanks,
Jim

Now that the Bashers have a chance to voice their opinions on well thought out and CLEARLY DEFINED reasons regarding their opinions of the President...other than Sabertooth, they are mysteriously silent.

Naughty, naughty... it's polite to ping me when you mention me, no?

Actually, I'm glad to see I'm still a basher in good standing. BTW, take a look at all of the replies on this thread which mention #8 that aren't from folks seen very often on Illegal Alien threads. I'd like to see the President take forceful steps to rectify this perception, how about you?

BTW, have you seen this...?

LAX Shooter allowed to extend illegal U.S. stay
[used Section 245(i)]

I recall during the Amnesty debates being told that only folks having INS paperwork snafus would qualify for Section 245(i), and that terrorists wouldn't be able to take advantage of it.

Mysterious silences are apparent on that thread as well.

Oh, and I DO HOPE and pray NONE of them show up with their TIN FOILS on saying this is JimRobinsons diabolical method banning the dissenters. I'll really go ballistic if that happens.

I'm not prepared to say that anyone who's been banned shouldn't have been, though I've been surprised on a couple of occasions. The Moderators have always been fair with me.

That said, I've noticed that a lot of race-baiting and false charges of racism by Bush loyalists seem not to be of much concern in this forum. They strike me as every bit as ugly and contrary to the spirit of Free Republic as any racist remark would be. I've seen some of it on this very thread.

I've freqently brought it to the attention of the AMs, not for the purpose of banning or deletion, but for clarification, and have yet to receive any explanation.

Go ballistic, if you must.

Not conservative enough

Bush is conservative? I thought he was a Republican.

Not pro-life

Well, he's not anti-life at least. The open door via stem cell research is a bummer though.

Is a gun-grabber

Don't know yet. So far, so good. Except for not trusting pilots. (They're a flaky bunch anyway so...)

Is a federal power-grabber

Well it's a war ya know and...a few billion here...a few billion there...what's another secretive bureaucracy?...can't do anything 'til Congress gives 'em some power anyway...

Will appoint liberal judges

Is he going to get some judges appointed? Yippee! 'Bout time.

Is a globalist

Aren't they all? (Just kidding. Sort of.)

Is in it just for oil

Doubt it.

Is too soft on immigration

Soft? He seems pretty aggressive to me. Amnesty for 8 million lawbreakers is going for the gusto.

Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel

Would he support a recognized nation state for Osama and al Quaeda?

Is a crook

Not that I'm aware of.

Other (you name it)

CFR is tantamount to destruction of the Constitution and thus treason. He signed off on it. What does that say? Some excuse of political strategy down the road just doesn't cut it for me. Hope the buck does stop with the Supreme Court.

Faith based welfare? Wonderful! Let's mix religion and government in the tax sucking socialist business of welfare.

George Bush is better than Algore. Ford Fiestas are better than Yugos. Egg Beaters is better than powdered eggs. Telephone books make better toilet paper than dried corn cobs. Oh boy.

I think President Bush is a lousy president because he never comes to FR.

What does this post mean? You figure it out.

Please re-read my post. I don't believe I attacked anyone. I simply said I supported the President, and why.

Could you please tell me why you flagged me? Thank you.

He should have and could have done all of this:

Order a stop to the NIH grant application process as it relates to embryonic stem cell research.

Issue an Executive order prohibiting federally-funded researchers or research facilities from conducting experiments on stem cells taken from human embryos.

Order the White House Legislative team to work with House and Senate leaders to tighten up the federal law against human embryo experiments and reject the Clinton loop-hole.

Introduce legislation criminalizing destructive human embryo research, including that which is privately funded, establishing stiff penalties for entities and individuals who engage in such practices, and expressly providing for legal protection of the human embryo as a human subject. under the Nuremberg Code of Medical Ethics.

A man with leadership qualities would have done all of the above, he did nothing and continues to do nothing.

While I don't HATE President Bush, & I think he's a good man, I agree w/ points # 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 8. He has little respect for the LIMITED powers that the Constitution gives to his Office. He has several members of the pro-socialist/globalist Council on Foreign Relations in his Cabinet: Cheney, Rice, & Powell, to name a few. He is using our nilitary abroad w/o an official declaration of war by Congress. He is weak-kneed when it comes to the 2nd Amendment, & won't see that the 9th & 10th Amendments are enfoced. He is EXPANDING the power of the federal governemt rather than making an attepmt to cut it back to its Constitutional limits (as James Madison wrote in The Federalist Papers # 45, are "war, peace, negociation, & FOREIGN commerce"). A $2 TRILLION budget is outrageous, when the federal government can do its Constitutional duties with less than a budget of probably $500 billion.

Didn't mean to imply that you had attacked anyone. I only flagged you because you were one of the folks Oneida M had flagged in the post I was responding to, and I was curious to get your thoughts..

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I remember all the arguments before the 2000 election on whether Bush in particular, and Republicans in general, were conservative enough.

Back then, I said all I wanted was the GOP to control Congress and the White House. If they couldn't roll back some of the federal power that has accumulated over the last 30 years, then I would stop supporting the GOP

Thanks to Jim Jeffords, we still haven't had that chance. I'm hoping for 2002.

I think the best was to approach this is economically. In other words; those who hire illegals should be heavily fined and pay all INS costs. That would stop more than half the flow in its tracks.

This makes the most sense. Remove the supply of cheap labor and the demand (illegal immigrants) will decrease dramatically. IMHO, this is the only workable position. You would also have to toughen welfare policies to truly make this position work so that those illegals already here cannot access federal dollars.

For those who are rabidly anti-illegal immigrant, you nearly all say that these should be scooped up and deported immediately. On its face, I'd have to agree. But hold up a minute. To accomplish this, we must severely increase the police powers of the State. I'm not sure that I want to go down that road. So, let us focus instead on the underlying reason(s) for aliens to come here illegally in the first place: $MONEY$. If those who hire illegal aliens were to be punished severely, illegal immigration would cease to be a problem almost immediately.

In short, he's the Red Zone President.

The President is out of step with the Red Zone on Illegal Aliens, and I believe a scan of this thread would bear that out.

Many of the folks who've mentioned it are people I haven't seen on the Illegal Alien threads. I'd like to see the President correct his course in this area, as I believe it would be a healthy development toward his re-election.

"A Bush-haters poll"?

That's disappointing rhetoric, better suited to James Carville or Paul Begala, two experts on Poisoning the Well.

I certainly don't hate Dubya, who seems a decent and honorable man. But I won't vote for a politician who refuses to address the immigration problem that has dramatically altered southern California, and which is now spreading across the country. Dubya not only has no plan for deporting illegals, he is adamant about pandering to them.

People crack on Buchanan and even make fun of him for running because of his poor numbers, but they never pause to think that he ran not to be elected, but to raise conservative issues that were buried in GOP oblivion.

He also took a ton of abuse from everybody in the process.

He was, of course, a decade ahead in his predictions about the one-world, multicultural, Mexican invasion, terrorist threat, and loss of jobs to the NAFTA crowd.

ONLY now is the general population of conservatives stilling their mockery of him to realize that... he was right.

So, I like to think that Buchanan blazed a trail, for some yet-unidentified, true conservative candidate, who will emerge from the toxic fumes of the GOP, and lead us out of this cesspool filled with RINO stool.

Buchanan should be praised, not ridiculed, for he is the only one to cogently point out the morphing of the GOP into a second socialist party.

The WOT is a joke, it is over, and nothing happened.

Other than the wedding bombing, whatever the veracity of various reports about it, name something that has happened in the past 60 days in this so-called 'war'.

Actually I was paying you a complement, and was in error for NOT pinging you..and I do humbly apologize.

You are one of the FEW posters who have an opposing view of the President whose posts I WILL read, as you manage to keep your debates and reasoning very civil.

So, my intent was to contrast you with the others, and I might go further to say that I SELDOM, if ever, engage in the back and forth between pro/con Bush'ers.

I guess my only point in my previous posting was that now that people have an invitation by the owner of this site, to give CALM, RATIONAL and ADULT reasons why they do/do not and or would/would not support him now or in the future...it is strangely quiet. The reason for that is it is much easier to post emotion filled, scathing, thoughless barbs, than to sit and compose a constructive response.
