A Bush Hater's Poll
Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:27:06 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

This is an unofficial quick and dirty presidential poll. Apparently, there is a good sized contingent on Free Republic that believes that President Bush is:

  1. Not conservative enough
  2. Not pro-life
  3. Is a gun-grabber
  4. Is a federal power-grabber
  5. Will appoint liberal judges
  6. Is a globalist
  7. Is in it just for oil
  8. Is too soft on immigration
  9. Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel
  10. Is a crook
  11. All of the above
  12. None of the above
  13. Other (you name it)

Please list the numbers that best match the reasons you don't like Bush (or state other reasons if not on the list) and state whether you believe that President Bush should be defeated even if it means installing a Democrat in the Whitehouse.

Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.

Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.

Thanks,
Jim

Saber, how much will it cost to round up and deport at least 3 million people? How long will the public put up with the infamous Elian photo multiplied a thousand fold? Do you HONESTLY believe that taking the actions required to rid the country of illegals can be sustained?

Just a few more facts.

President Bush has been out to California and did a big fund raiser for Simon.

And President Bush made radio ads for Shundler and endorsed him in mailers to homes, among other things. (That was back when he was hip deep in the beginning of the War.)

Pickering was a sacrificial lamb by the Democrats to signal to the Conservatives that no Christians need apply for appellate judgeships. And if we don't win the Senate this Fall, you can kiss any judge who is known to be pro-life good-bye.

I think that everybody would agree on that and that ain't going to happen overnight and demonizing honest hard working people is not a solution either, IMHO.

They are not honest, Dane, they are Illegal, every one of them.

That's not a technicality, they are takers. Not only from us, but also from the legitimate immigrant candidates they displace.

Tell you what, scan this thread... of the items Jim listed, #8 is running away. Now look at the names... many of them are of Freepers you don't see often on the Illegal Alien threads. #8 is not a small problem for Bush.

Pretending otherwise is definitely not the solution.

We have the option of taking our troops out. If we would not then despite our request being denied, THEN Freepers have a valid thing to REALLY get angry about.
But, I am going to wait and see what happens before I get my panties in a bunch.

I support the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and our national sovereignty. I know that I will never get what I want, but I definitely do not want to give the other guys (the Dems) what they want either

Well said. I suppose that is true for me too and explains WHY I continue to vote for Republicans for which I have little or no enthusiasm.

I just worry that the reason I will never get what I want is that I keep giving the GOP what they want ( my vote ) with very little in return. I fear they are like naughty children who will not ever shape up until we finally withhold their unearned rewards.

But you and everyone else keep telling me if I cut off their candy (my votes) I will end up with Hilary as King and Ted Kennedy and Jesse Jackson as co- Popes. It is truly hard to know what is the moral thing to do. I get hives worrying about it when I go to vote.

I am in complete agreement with Jim. We have to have a sizeable majority to do any good.

I voted for him and would vote again in the next round but would put myself under the (1) not conservative enough (mostly for his passing too many of the libs reforms) and (8)too soft on immigration.

I realize the strategy to deny the dems their "key" issues but I was hoping for "our side" to run the ball forward offense for awhile rather than give up only a few yards on defense.

Are my expectations unrealistic? Possibly, but these still reflect my position.

So far it seems that "let the democrats have it" is running a close second behind an unknown congressman. I thought there would be a veritable avalanche of "real conservatives" to send GW back to the ranch.

Off topic, but

has anyone in Oklahoma heard any news of the supposed UFO crash near Henrietta Oklahoma tonight? Heard on the radio coming home that it was cylyndrical and the ground shook for 30 seconds.

You really are dense.

Do you actually think Ziglar or Ashcroft ot anyone else in their positions, can do what they want?

The policy and direction of the Government is set by the President. The President appoints people to these positions that agree with his vision of the Government.

If the Commissioner of the INS can state publicly and set policy that forbids the INS officers from performing their job under US law, who do you think allowed him to do and say that?

If Ziglar came out publicly and stated that he was going to allow the INS law enforcement personnel to round up illegals, wherever they are, he would be fired.

The law states that I can arrest any illegal alien that I come into contact with, even if I am off duty. The Commissioner has set policy that states that I can’t do that.

The buck stops at the White House, or is that just the policy if the President is a Democrat?

the great majority of them (illegal aliens) are hard working and performing jobs that Americans refuse to do

I live on the Mexican border. I will guess that you do not.

No offense, but I know exactly what the INS is doing, because I'm one of the ones doing it.

Apprehensions of illegals have in fact decreased since 9/11, compared to the same time period in the previous year.

That's not a technicality, they are takers. Not only from us, but also from the legitimate immigrant candidates they displace.

If picking vegetables in the hot sun and cleaning toilets is "taking" to you, then so be it. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how warped.

Tell you what, scan this thread... of the items Jim listed, #8 is running away. Now look at the names... many of them are of Freepers you don't see often on the Illegal Alien threads. #8 is not a small problem for Bush.

LOL, what you mean Sabertooth, Miss American Pie, Brownie74, and Marine Inspector are all brand new to the immigration debate on FR? Just like other parts of FR you have your own mutual admiration society, there are bigger fish to fry, than debating people whose sole purpose in life it seems to be demonizing Mexicans.

Pretending otherwise is definitely not the solution.

Hmm, thinking that getting the Mexican economy on track is not a solution. Oh well, like i said before that's your opinion.
