This is an unofficial quick and dirty presidential poll. Apparently, there is a good sized contingent on Free Republic that believes that President Bush is:

1. Not conservative enough
2. Not pro-life
3. Is a gun-grabber
4. Is a federal power-grabber
5. Will appoint liberal judges
6. Is a globalist
7. Is in it just for oil
8. Is too soft on immigration
9. Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel

Please list the numbers that best match the reasons you don't like Bush (or state other reasons if not on the list) and state whether you believe that President Bush should be defeated even if it means installing a Democrat in the Whitehouse.

Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.

Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.

If Bush did what it took to get control of the Border and the existing illegal alien population, you would rue the day that you championed it.

If Bush would let the INS enforce the laws on the books right now, we could have this problem cleaned up in a few years, without any more of an inconvenience to the citizens than there is now.

A hater? With all due respect, was't that term used as a tool against those who pointed out x42's numerous faults and crimes?

That being said, I miss the days of gridlock, before steel tariffs, lumber duties, out of control farm subsidies, out of control federal funding of education, CFR, the demonization of american businesses, and the elevation of federal departments as the white knights.

I miss having a conservative president who wouldn't have left fellow conservatives like Judge Pickering, Bret Schundler, and Bill Simon twisting in the wind. I miss having a president who promoted investment and the power of american innovation and risk taking, rather than jumping on the leftist bandwagon, which can only harp on the negative aspects of capitalism. I miss having a conservative who used the power of the presidential bully pulpit to beat back the Rats, rather than outspending them for our votes.

I would vote for another candidate in a heartbeat against Bush if I thought he had a chance to win, but there haven't been any. I don't like the Bushes. I don't hate rich people. I don't begrudge people for being succesful. I just don't like political dynasties, be it the Kennedies, Bushes or Gores. Every man has a right to run in this great Republic of ours, but I prefer not to vote for someone who was born to be groomed to run.

I like candidates such as Ronald Reagan, who rose from normal America. I respect the Trumans, Reagans, Cincinnatus'es of the history of statesmen.

All this doesn't mean I won't support Bush though. The only candidates ready to face him are people with little to no chance of winning, or narcissists such as McCain. If this stays this way in 2004 I will support and vote for GW.

Nobody is prepared for the presidency and I am perfectly fine with a president gathering a great group of advisors to help him out. He ran the executive office of one of the most populated states. I would say that is all the preparation needed.

We don't own the tools of propaganda.

The communists understood about propaganda. For over a half century they have infiltrated and they now dominate all the propaganda organs in this country....the movies, the schools, the press, television programs and news...

Until we get back in the game in a truly meaningful way, we can not field a truly conservative candidate who can win.

President Bush is not perfect. The decision to to back down on the World Court was especially egregious.

But, he is a decent man, a good man.

Ok, I just went back to see who the other person is who voted for Tancredo. And, the other person is a fourth generation Texan, Miss American Pie. Tancredo has national popularity. I am in South Dakota.

Based on what? His stance on immigration? What else qualifies him as a president?

I have no idea what kind of President Tancredo would make, but if he runs for the 2004 nomination I'd vote for him in the primary. Every vote he'd get would be a clear message to the President on his wayward track on Illegal Aliens, and one I'm not sure Bush has listened to yet.

Of course, Tancredo wouldn't get the nomination, so hopefully I'll be voting for an appropriately chastised Bush that November.

Huh??? Pickering had go against a demo judiciary panel. Schundler was running in a very liberal state and is not above criticism on how he ran his campaign, and Bill Simon is really twisting in the wind with a lead against Davis in most of the polls against Davis.

I knew that this thread would turn into a bash fest where facts are ignored.

That is YOUR take on the situtation. We have fallen a long distance from "exempt us or shove it", to "well ok, you can bring our people before your court but you have to wait a year or more to being investigations".

What makes you think for one jumpin jack minute, given Bush's history, that he won't cave on our military? He has certainly opened the door for the next President to cave. Just like he left the door open for a broader range of stem cell research.

Let's start at the top. Bush appoints a open border liberal to run the INS, and that same open borders liberal publicly states that the INS will not go round up the 8 to 11 million illegals in the US and he is still in charge.

Actions speak louder than words. Bush does not want the illegals rounded up.
