Halliburton Responds to Larry Klayman's Supersillyous Suit(My Title)
CBS Market Watch "Big Charts" Web Site ^ | 7/10/2002 | MarketWatch.com

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:04:03 AM PDT by SierraWasp

12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

Yes, I do know accounting. In fact, I know accounts payable and receivable. When something is recorded in "miscellaneous expenses", it may draw questions later on. When you write out a check for a particular expense, you don't list it as "miscellaneous" unless you are trying to cya in some manner. But even listing in miscellaneous can draw attention to those who will want to investigate the books.

Yet you've somehow been made privy to all of the facts, judged them on their merit, brought it all to trial, and come to the conclusion that there was, in fact, a "slip up" and Cheney was involved.

Huh? Made privy to what? Go check out www.judicialwatch.org. It's open for all the public to view.

As for judging on the merits, that's for a jury to determine. The judge determines the facts. And as for my comment about the "slip up" so what, I'm entitled to my view just as you are. Right? I don't trust this current administration as there is much that the public as been lied about. And I'm not a Republican...I'm independant.

Headline News went that much in depth? Were they quoting Klayman? I didn't think that was what his suit was about?

I have no bones to pick with Cheney but if it is later found to be true through discovery that he was acting in the position to cook the books than he's gonna be creamed for fraud. Nobody's picking bones but they sure wanna pick at the facts don't they.

That sounds backwards. The last Jury I sat on the Judge told US that we were the triars of fact.

cook the books

That looks like a phrase from the index cards day before yesterday.

You're still believing Klayman's press releases? I think we showed just how valid they are way back here.

Sometimes "miscellaneous" is simply miscellaneous. I've expensed hundreds of checks that way, and I wasn't trying to "cya". Are you JW's Deep Throat or something?

I've seen enough of Larry's press releases to realize that the truth is a distant memory to Larry.

Larry's version of the facts include so much hype and spin it's laughable.

If Larry could just present the facts as they are, (remembering discovery has not yet taken place), he might have more credibility. Instead he adds tabloid type language that makes him look foolish.
