Carpenter and Ujike both said more research was needed regarding the link between marijuana and schizophrenia.
But, but, but...if the study is incomplete, which it obviously is if further research is still needed, why put out an inconclusive report before all of the facts are gathered?
Impressions are everything?

After many years of personal research, I can vouch for this report! My ex-wife smoked weed, and I'd swear that she was schizophrenic. Hell, I know that the b!tch that walked out the door wasn't even the same one I married. It must have been those times that she was able to make her head spin 360's and speaking in those wierd voices that gave it away. hehehe

I still miss her, but my aim is getting better.

As an aside, I came down with a sinus problem last week, my dotcor proscribed a drug called Tequin, here is the listed side effects;

The side effects of Tequin are generally mild, but serious side effects have been reported in people taking this class of drugs. These reactions may occur after taking just one dose. If you experience any of the following side effects, stop taking Tequin and call your doctor:

an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives) central nervous system (CNS) side effects including:

seizures, dizziness, confusion, tremors, hallucinations,

depression, or suicidal thoughts

pain, inflammation, or rupture of a tendon

Needless to say I didn't take the drug, the side effects outweighed the benefits.

The Swedish study showed that the incidence of schizophrenia among conscripts who were "heavy" and "chronic" users of marijuana was six times higher than it was among those who had not smoked.

When they ban dry cleaning fluid because .002% of rats that are bathed in it get cancer, this finding of a 500% increase is stunning. Of course the potheads will deny it, while saying, hey, I can quit any time I want, I just don't want to right now... Been there done that, don't want the T-Shirt. Pot sucks(your life away)

Marijuana, however, has only been linked to schizophrenia in those who are already genetically prone to the disease. There is little evidence to suggest that it poses any such risk to those not genetically predisposed to schizophrenia.

Okay everybody, go back to what you were doing.

”This result provides genetic evidence that marijuana use can result in schizophrenia or a significantly increased risk of schizophrenia,” lead researcher Hiroshi Ujike stated.

Marijuana, however, has only been linked to schizophrenia in those who are already genetically prone to the disease. There is little evidence to suggest that it poses any such risk to those not genetically predisposed to schizophrenia.

The results only indicate that schizophrenics have a tendency to use marijuana, not that marijuana causes schizophrenia.

1. Pot is not a hallucinogenic drug. It is a euphoric.

2. If you're prone to schizophrenia, you probably shouldn't smoke pot, drink alcohol, smoke tobacco or eat most supermarket red-meat. We only bother to outlaw one of these risk factors. Pot.

3. In the Swedish study, did they report similar rates of heavy/chronic marijuana usage in both the schizophrenics and non-schizophrenics? In other words, it may be that schizophrenics are more likely to smoke pot than non-schizophrenics. If this were so, we'd see a coincidental, not a causal link. It would show up as a greater incidence of schizophrenia in the pot-smoking population as well.

4. Why don't news organizations require journalists to take rudimentary scientific method courses and intro to statistics before they let them write stories about scientific studies?
