[history]
A group of parents in California is suing a local public school district where at least one middle school, after September 11, encouraged students to wear Muslim robes, adopt Islamic names and stage make-believe pilgrimages to Mecca to learn about the faith.

Oh, I missed the whining about Christianity. If they use that as a basis for this lawsuit, it's not going to fly in the courts. It boils this lawsuit down to a complaint about
which religion to teach in the public schools (Christianity vs. Muslim), not that the teaching of religion in a public school should be banned, which'd be the basis of an ACLU lawsuit.
I need more coffee.

They exposed their clients to the collection of a rather hefty assessment of legal fees in a losing lawsuit, one that didn't even get to the discovery phase, if I remember correctly.
Before they sue, they ought to make sure that they're on very solid legal ground, and most certainly take clients that would be considered to be affected persons. If they don't, they themselves could find themselves sued for malpractice, end up answering a bar complaint and sanctioned by the court.

I wonder if those children were taught about the murderous pedophile creator of that filthy moon cult?

I wonder if they taught the children how to apply for flight school also. Seems innocent enough to me. {sarcasm off} Extra credit. No coercion involved.

BTW what are the "Five Pillars of Islam." Killing Infidels has to be one. What are the other four? That is an excellent question, because it is necessary to know what motivates a Muslim in order to understand them.
The five pillars of Islam are these:
1. The Creed{Kalima}:
"There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet." A Muslim must state this publicly and often to become one.
2. Prayer{Salat}:
Five times a day. I have spent time in the Middle East, and the "call to prayer" from the loudspeakers is very loud and annoying. Those who don't go to the Mosque can be beaten.
3. Almsgiving{Zakat}:
Muslims are legally required to give 1 / 40th of their income to the poor. They frequently used Zakat to justify some abhorant behavior, like getting stone drunk in Bahrain or sleeping with prostitutes.
4. Fasting{Ramadan}:
From sunup to sundown during holy month. But believe me, there is plenty of eating and drinking done behind closed doors anyway.
5. Pilgrimage{Hajj}:
Once in every Muslims lifetime, to Mecca. They have to make the trip, or they don't get to go to Muslim "heaven."
You mentioned "killing infidels." You are actually quite correct, this is Jihad. It is like a free ticket to paradise, in that you don't have to comply with the other 5 tedious "pillars"--and you get your 70 virgins in the after-life by going to war spread the faith, or killing infidels.
Christianity requires acknowledgment of sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ.
I chose the latter.

So we encourage kids to run around with towels on their heads, praising Allah (and maybe comparing Jews to pigs and dogs?), but they can't say "under God" in the Pledge.
What a country!

The implementers of this forced indoctrination should be formally charged with treason by the Justice Department.

OK, I just wanted to clarify this. If you can't make the trip to Mecca at least once in your lifetime then you don't go to Heaven? Now, if muslims were to be prevented from going to Mecca. Say, what if ... oh I don't know ...
the entire area becomes a radiation infested wasteland ... what would that mean for Islam? Would that mean, then, that Islam would be eliminated within a generation as those Muslims who had yet to go to Mecca would be consigned to hell, and so they'd be forced to abandon the religion to avoid a 1-way trip to Hell?
Just an idle question...

OK, I just wanted to clarify this. If you can't make the trip to Mecca at least once in your lifetime then you don't go to Heaven? The trip to Mecca once in their lifetimes is essential to a Muslim gaining salvation. The trip can be very arduous on the old or infirm, or very expensive to the poor.
Soooooooooooooooo........
Muslims believe that you can send someone in your place, provided they make the trip for that other person, and not for themselves...if that makes any sense. It will involve ceremonies a rituals, most of which center around the Ka'aba shrine---where that black rock is worshipped {they say they are not worshipping a rock....but you be the judge}.
For the very wealthy, they get fancy hotel rooms that overlook the rock, and they get to pray right from their hotel suite, (in air conditioning), without having to go and mingle amoung the sweaty masses.
Does this answer? I am not an expert, but I have spent some time there.

"These children always had a choice," she said. "There was no coercion and no insistence that they do any of these activities if they didn't want to." She misses the point... having teacher-led exercises that promote certain religious practices is precisely what "coercion" is for students. Can you imagine the outrage from protestant parents if they started simulating catholic communion ceremonies in class, it which it was "optional" to line up and get a wafer from the teacher? Or if everyone had the "option" to "simulate" taking part in a tent-revival where they get full-immersion baptism at the end and act as though they're speaking in tongues?

Will they also teach the kids about just how muslims pillaged, raped and murdered their way through the Middle East and India? Will they teach the kids that those peaceful muslims massacred more than 1,5 million Hindus in Bangladesh? Will they also mention the massacres of the Jewish tribes in Medina on the order of mohammed (camelp.ss be upon him) because accoring to mohammed the Archangel Gabriel commanded him to slaughter their man and enslave their woman and children? Will they teach their kids how they best can beat woman?
I bet this school is attempting dawah (inviting others to islam). It's the Trojan Horse!
Instead they should run tapes on 9/11 and on the islamic reaction!

Deport those teachers to an islamic country. That will change their minds when they see 'Iranian justice' or how other faiths are permitted in Saudi Arabia.

Where's the ACLU? You'd think they would be all over this case, given their interest in maintaining a "wall of separation" between church and state.

Maintain the slurpee machine so that plenty of ice comes out. Publicly argue with family members. Be self righteous over every slight. Have no definition for the term "moderation".
ROTFLOL-- Love it... you are ready for the stan-up circuit.
