CAIR: South Dakota Woman Loses Child After Accepting Islam

WASHINGTON, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- A national Islamic advocacy group is raising the possibility of religious bias in the case of a woman in South Dakota whose child was taken away after she accepted Islam.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) says the woman's parents were granted custody of her five-year-old boy after she converted to Islam, married an Egyptian man and planned to travel to Egypt. In an affidavit filed with the Third Judicial Circuit Court, the woman's father said she "has engaged in some bizarre behavior, including wearing Muslim garb and declaring herself a Muslim." The affidavit was accompanied by a photo showing the mother wearing a religiously-mandated Islamic headscarf.

In a recent hearing, the court awarded temporary custody to the Muslim mother's parents, claiming that she would otherwise travel to Egypt with her son. That ruling was made despite the fact that the mother offered to give up her passport so that she would be unable to leave the country.

A custody trial is scheduled for the end of July.

"The inclusion of Islamophobic statements in a court filing raises concerns about whether this case will be decided based on the best interests of the child, or on the prejudices of those involved in determining who will ultimately have custody. We ask that relevant authorities monitor the development of this case to ensure objectivity," said CAIR Civil Rights Manager Joshua Salaam.

Salaam added that CAIR is dealing with a number of similar cases and he urged American Muslims to register as foster parents to provide homes for Muslim children involved in custody disputes.

It is you who are mistaken. The State and the USA have an interest in making sure that no one is taken from the USA and put into some foreign culture, I don't care if he is only 3 days old, if he is of US descent and heritage.

It would be different if BOTH parents were taking him, temporarily, overseas while they served as missionaries or workers for the USA government or corporations.

If when he is 18, he decides to join his mother and stepfather in Egypt, then let him.

If the Egyptian were his natural father, my position might be different. My judgment is based on his having both natural parents white US natural born citizens.

This is different from the Elian case, but of course La Reno decided that one wrongly too, for different reasons.

If her child was girl, the egyptian husband would have cut off the child's clitoris. As it is, ony the mother will lose her clitoris.

I am willing to bet there is whole lot more to this story then we are being told. I am willing to bet the strangest thing this woman has done lately has not been converting to Islam.

Strictly speaking, it may be his grandparents, who have the right as sources of all of his genes, to prevent his physical removal by or to a step-parent. The state or US act for them, to enforce their rights.

This was well established with the Ukrainian boy in Illinois, which was much LESS clear cut even than this Dakota case, because (1) There both natural parents were going to Ukraine, here not. (2)There it was an uncle and cousin, not grandparents, who received custody. (3) The Ukraine shares with the USA a Judeo-Christian culture.

IOW, in the Freedom's Child case, the boy WAS Ukrainian, but it was nevertheless ruled that he had acquired enough American characteristics to forbid his removal to that country by ANYONE, even both his two natural parents, until he was 18 and could decide for himself.

How much more is this true, when the boy is 100% red white and blue and has not a trace of Islamic or Egyptian descent or origin. This case is a cinch, he is as American as the Buffalo nickel and crazy horse, no Egypt will he see.

If it had been the father who petitioned for custody of this child, his son, then this woman, her Egyptian husband AND the child would be on their way to Egypt right now. The father hating "family courts" would have allowed this to happen just for spite instead of giving custody to a father.

In a dream, I was observing a most atrocious sight. I saw women in great numbers being abducted from the streets, their homes, business places and even from shelters, barns and other places where they had been discovered hiding. Some were caught totally unaware while others seemed to have a measure of insight regarding this impending event. Yet, even at that, they had found no earthly place to remain hidden. I saw loving husbands and children watch as wives and mothers were literally ripped away from their sides. Big, strong and muscular men were helpless to abort the seizure of their beloved mates, family and friends.

Next, I saw these females, who were of all ages, size, nationalities and financial status, being ushered into a huge building. Many, many women were being institutionalized against their will. They could do nothing about it! A few tried to fight off those tyrants but were unable to flee from the bonds that held them. In some manner, either by body or spirit, I was there among those who were taken captive. It was a most frightful event. All felt so helpless. They had to obey the commands that were given or risk horrible torture and possible death. Each woman was given a small room, similar to a jail cell and could not even go to the rest room without being accompanied by an escort.

Everyone was forced to dress in a certain manner. They were provided with long black dresses and a turban style headdress. Their heads were to be covered with these at all times, even while sleeping. Each turban had a code or something on the backside of it. To remove this covering for any reason was forbidden and put a person at risk of receiving a severe battering . To defy authorities and break rules was never tolerated. In the dark stillness of the night, it was common to hear the screaming and wailing of the many who were being raped and tormented. In the daylight hours, the visible parts of many captive ladies revealed bruises caused from grotesque beatings. The presence of animalistic bite marks further denoted the cruel manner in which the prisoners were treated. I knew that those in charge were Muslims and yet many of them had Oriental faces. Oh, what a terrible dread was associated with those inhumane beasts. They were vile and barbaric, showing no mercy.

Although many tried desperately, not one woman could obtain information about the welfare of their loved ones left behind. This in itself was almost more sorrow than some could bare. I have never in my entire life witnessed a greater or deeper pain than what I felt for all those who had been suddenly snatched from living in freedom and forced into a lifestyle that was fearsome and dreadful.

My conclusion to all of this is that something of this very nature, according to what I witnessed in my dream, is about to emerge right here in the USA soon. Right now is the time to make every preparation possible to withstand the horrifying torture of body, mind and spirit. The Holy Ghost is warning all who will listen, to come before God in true repentance. This includes the sinners, saints and all shades in between. Those who walk with the Lord must be attentive and listen to what the Spirit is saying so that they might be able to rise above the great pressures and oppressions of the enemy. When all hell breaks loose in upcoming days, there will be tremendous difficulties, even for those who thought they were prepared. And yet, for those who are caught unaware, it will be totally catastrophic and the associated pain unbearable.

Hmmmm. Fascinating analysis of facts not in evidence. Where, for instance, does this article divulge the race or eye color of the parties involved? The article also states that the woman plans to TRAVEL to Egypt. Maybe she intends to move there, maybe not. Perhaps if she were traveling to Acapulco that would be okay.

So she converted to Islam. Love to disregard that first amendment right to freedom of religion, don't we?

Despite your claim that this is different from the Elian case, you sound exactly like Uncle Fidel explaining why Elian should be in Cuba. I assume if this mother had converted to Judaism you would empower the State and USA to take away her child so she couldn't travel with him to Israel?
