That's why there are VCRs. Otherwise, there's always an "entaglement," like it or not.

The only "entanglement" I'm in danger of these days is when the tape breaks.

Badda-BOOM!

You are right. My Mom always says that you have two choices in life (read parenting)...You can laugh or you can cry. I've gotten great joy from my children, along with periods of incredible angst. I can't imagine life without them.

I work with an 18 year-old lesbian who wears revealing outfits and flirts with me. Go figure that out.

I think I'd slug her.

That's cruel and unusual punishment.

DAnconia, it's all because we've got the goodies...WE are the candy store...Once the candy has been opened or broken into it isn't in perfect condition anymore and somehow has its worth is cheapened.

Here's a word of advice to those who want to "care" about such things...Once a boy has been in the candy store, LET IT GO...It ain't your candy to worry about!

There are many parents who do love their children. And, I understand that it is hard keeping them away from the predators. I have a 31 year old son, no daughters. But sometimes, I guess that it takes a shotgun to keep away the chicken hawks.

I've got a 31 year old son, also. He looked out for both of his sisters. He had many a "serious talk" with my son-in-law - ended up being best man at their wedding. My son-in-law terrorizes my youngest daughter's boyfriend, who incidently, is a very nice young man. Families take care of their own.

These things always go in cycles.

It's spiraling downhill. But it's nothing that an Islamic theocracy can't cure. Not to worry.

I'm never having children. I'm smart enough to know that I'd either overparent or underparent to the extreme. It's how I am. Not everybody is cut out to be parents. Some of us have other roles to play in life, though many parents view this as a selfish decision. Of course it is. So is HAVING children. We want the satisfaction of doing something to make others' lives better. This is inherently selfish -- wanting that satisfaction. Then there are those who wish to preserve a legacy, such as Saddam. But articles like this certainly help me justify my decision. I'd wager it's harder now to raise a child than it's ever been. Even back in the dark days of crib death, war, famine, etc. Family values, as trite a phrase as it is, seem to be viewed as an archaic notion, not suited for our time. Enlightened, are we? I think not. I blame the rise of liberalism for this.

Oh, where is your spirit of adventure?

Women's lib (or feminism, by whatever name it is called) was never about raising the status or situation of women. It was always about nothing other than destroying "old" mores regarding sex. It was just the first attack of the perverts, in that sense. And now it has moved on through homosexuality to NAMBLA to transvesticism.

It's all about destroying, not about building up. Can it then be strange that it's most prominent result is the gratification of the male sex drive without any accompanying responsibility (on the man's part)?

One of the things about this modern "slut" fashion is how ugly it all is. The clothes do not bring out the beauty in a woman's body, but merely degrade it.

I see pictures of families going out for nice occasions in the fifties and early sixties, and I'm struck by how fashion seemed to be dictated by what looked good. Conservative suit for the men, modest and pretty dresses for the women. The swaying of a skirt below the knees is sexy in a subtle ways, in my opinion. If I was appointed fashion czar, I'd immediately turn the clock back 40 years.

(Oops, might get flamed for that. I should add I'd made a few modifications for comfort for women--no need to bring back the girdle, for example. Okay, I should have a flame-resistant post now.)

After an hour of so of this, I had to wonder: How in the hell does a teenage boy today keep his hormones under control?

I have no idea. But I reckon there is a correlation between girls wearing revealing clothing and boys building stronger forearm muscles.

2. Birth control is less than perfect, especially in the hands of teenagers. Undesired teen pregnancy is a major problem.

Reread the thread. Half of the comments are about women.

And I'm not so sure teen pregnancy is a major problem. Unless you think it was a problem for the last 20 centuries.

Bad parenting is a major problem. Even for adults.

"Families take care of their own."

That is how it should be. I was born and raised in Ky. That is how it was where and when I grew up. We had a way of dealing with chicken hawks.

"Here's a word of advice to those who want to "care" about such things...Once a boy has been in the candy store, LET IT GO...It ain't your candy to worry about!"

That is how many men view the situation. And, many men do not commit because of this fact.

You're a girl, and I'm sorry you feel that way. I assure you, we don't.

Nearly all of it is cultural conditioning. And the culture that tells you that MY sexuality is worthy, while yours is sin, is very wrong....

Luckily, girls/women are coming to understand that their sexuality is good. As good as ours. And they are beginning to exercise ownership of it.

And that's gonna really tick off a whole bunch of guys, and some girls on the 'conservative' FR....

I'm not good at dealing with neanderthals... :)

Who wants a repressed woman anyway?

"Baishun" (prostitute) chic has been the rage here for at least 10 years and is followed up increasingly by highschool/junior highschool girls putting out for the hour for about 30,000 yen ($US285).

What the hey, I'll be crude....used to have a Nipponese driver who referred to such as "Yellowtail"...
