Yes! And don't forget why Bush-41 was not reelected — and the horror that resulted for 8 years. The (in effect) coalition of staunch Conservatives and Liberals of every stripe was too much for Bush-41 to overcome. Hillary is counting on you guys to come through again in '04.

OK, but then we gotta quit snickering at Blacks for voting overwhelmingly Democrat when that party ignores them.

many Republicans think and vote like third-party crackpots

Actually they vote like the loopy idealists of the 60s. Remember when conservatives were reasoned, rational, and pragmatic-- and didn't think with their emotions? What happened? Who feminized the psyche of conservatives?

Recall that Bush has not yielded in the main; that is, on the thing that matters most, the war on terror.

Our southern border isn't as secure as it should be.

Bush Basher= Anyone that dares to compare presidential decisions
with stated conservative policy, or the constitution.

Reagan fought back HARD against the left in his first term. Bush I capitulated. Do you remember which one was re-elected in a landslide and which one slunk away in defeat?

If it really is about winning elections, as the Bush apologists claim then why not use the winning strategy?

Attention Bush-bashers on the Right: Are you listening?

Oh yes... To more of the same.

This article is a yawn, simply regurgitating the tedious, Bush-loyalist rationalizations we've grown accustomed to on FR. Thanks for all of the coalition-building boldface.

All you've done is set the stage for more rounds of insults and groupthink... Self-congratulations are in order!

What you and those who think like you on this forum would like to do is shut down debate, because debate is going to entail criticism of the President. Unfortuanately, there are areas where President Bush has merited criticism, and this is America... deal with it.

I'm baffled, actually, by the screechings from the loyalists' corner, forever warning about the perils of Hillary or Gore... you've simply drawn a different lesson from 1992 than some of us have. You think the problem is that not enough conservatives fell in line with Bush 41, and you blame them for Clinton.

While I voted for Poppy, I don't blame the conservatives for dumping him at all... I blame George HW Bush for not falling in line with conservatives. Their vote is not his birthright.

And no one's vote is the birthright of George W Bush; if he loses them, he's responsible. He's a politician; if he loses elections, he's responsible. He serves at our pleasure, and if he loses our pleasure, it's his burden.

What did you really expect from posting this screed? You never wanted to reach out, you wanted to slap down. Are those of us critical of the President now supposed to gratefully come to our senses? That's not going to happen as a result of this article and the attendant "attaboys." Not one vote will be cowed into the fold, nor one critical voice silenced. You made yourself feel better, but you've done nothing to advance the cause of conservatism, nor, ironically, President Bush.

Let the circular firing squad continue.

I surely hope they're listening...I thank God every day for President Bush! Has anybody noticed that Rush and Sean have gotten off their Bush-Bashing Bandwagon now that they've proven their strong convictions but the overall guy is our MAN and he's doing a great job.

This article goes way too far. Most Right-wing Bush bashing doesn't make it to the mainstream anyway. But people in the white house listen to it, so it's much needed in order to keep the administration's feet to the fire. Otherwise, when he senses no displeasure on the Right, our president will drift further and further to the Left, all because we don't hold him accountable and drink the kool-aid like so many on this board.

Sure, I'll probably vote for him again, but for now we need to make him work for our votes.

The American Right can't be anyone's bitch--we've seem just how much it's helped certain ethnic groups to become slaves servants of the Democratic party. The more in thrall they are, the worse they do.

...many Republicans think and vote like third-party crackpots, imagining that it is somehow smart to let the liberal win than to vote for someone who doesn't parrot the appropriate lines on every single issue.

This was especially amusing, in light of the oft-repeated aphorism that "we're taking the Democrat's issues away," when we enter the legislative fray intending to give them half of what they want, rather than settling for only half of what we want.

That's not "letting liberals win?"

I voted against gwhore. Given a viable conservative third choice, I would have gone with him/her instead.
