More of Falwell's sanctimonious slop, in the same vein as 9/11 being caused not by the bad guys, but because God lifted His "protective veil".
Folks, I hate to tell you, but this means praying for the Democrats as well as the Republicans. You want them to be wise, and courageous, and patriotic. To say they "can't be" says that God is a liar. He says they can be.
On the other hand, you don't want to give them free reign. So here is how I do it, and I believe this is consistent with the Word: I pray blessings on "all those in authority over me," the House, Senate, Supreme COurt, President, Gov. Taft, Mayor McLin, and my school's administration. But then, in the name of Jesus, I bind BY NAME the Democrats from interfering with certain policies. Jesus said whatever you bind on earth would be bound in heaven, so I believe this has an effect. If all Christians bound the Democrats not to impair the vote on judges, for ex., we would have our judges. You may have other methods, but this works for me. NOT PRAYING for ALL our leaders, I think, is not an option.

It is in vain, Sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace! -- but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the North will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our breathren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that Gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery! Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!
(We have such a one as our President - now we need more in other offices all over the country). God will answer if we will just pray!
