"Although Smith concedes minorities are doing better under One Florida, he says the way Bush implemented it, by executive order, remains a painful memory."

So why is the memory "painful"? Because the fear-mongers were WRONG?

Bump-o.

I am still waiting, however, for the "Summer that nobody knows." ;-)

ROTFLMAO! Thanks, Clemenza I am actually very honored you would say that. If I set up a fan club, I will let you know -- and nominate you as president! :)

From the link in my post #9:

June, 2002: "I guess overall the negative reaction [to One Florida] was overstated," said panel member Don Bowen, president of the Urban League chapter in Broward County.

"I say give it a chance. For the last 10 years, I hadn't heard anyone else come up with any new strategies."

Black Floridians leaving the 'DemocRAT's Plantation' to vote for JEB? An idea whose time has finally come.....thanks to the fact that JEB's One Florida is showing results!

Hooray! He can win without the Black vote but won't it be grand if he gets a significant turnout in the Black voting community that the RATs assume they own!

Minority voters are getting a taste of the American dream in spite of their religous leaders political ambitions and church meeting instructions.

All the junior "AlSharpton wannabes" are having hissy fits knowing they're losing control of lock-step black votes promised to the DNC. And the DNC ain't happy.

GO JEB!!!

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

The memory was painful because of peer pressure. Times they are a changing but at some point in our history, not claiming to be an expert, if you were a black conservative or a pubbie, you'd get labeled an Uncle Tom and were ostracized by the blacks who stuck with the democrats. This notion has been used I'd say even as recent as the year 2000 elections.

Peer pressure is very painful but you got to give these new fans of Jeb credit for breaking the mold - and I think the momentum is not just re: Jeb. It's happening all over the USA. People have more confidence in conservative leadership and let's face it - we're all a little beside ourselves since 9-11. Everything has changed forever.

Whatever our race or ethnicity, we love our country and I think we're looking to the pubbies for leadership and rightly so. Klintoon damaged our country so badly and now, current Dems just whine and go negative when we need reassurances. Who needs that? All Americans have to be able to trust their leaders in a time of uncertainty and war. They do trust President Bush and Governor Jeb is probably the most popular governor in the USA. He's a great guy and his staff's great too. Happy Birthday Dubya, 56 years young today!!!

I'd like to be on your conservative black ping list. It may come in handy for the 2004 elections. We must prepare for those as soon as the Nov. 2002 elections are over.

If my thoughts regarding "painful memories" and my recollection of U.S. history and black voting is different than yours because I am not black, I'd like your opinion re: what the painful memories were about the 2000 prez election the folks in this article were talking about. To me, it's about the constant peer pressure. What say you, mhking? Regards, FV

Sorry, I forgot to freepmail you and posted instead. Well, now that I'm here, i'll bump this to the top. By the way, since I've befriended the legal immigrant Bosnians where I live (who are not sleepers), I am fairly certain they'll vote for me in the next condo election and I can also talk them into voting for Jeb too.

I've been forming my own alliances to address local problems. It takes time but it happens by talking to people one on one. Teamwork is great!

Grandpa dave, you pinged me somewhere else, "Hi" to you...
