Also, not to rain on all the pro-atkins peoples parade but I have NEVER met ANYONE that I considered very fit on that type of diet. I have met people that lost weight(Like my post about calorie restriction, its the long one that I know you have read.), but I would hardly call them powerful members of the species.

Pardek, Being slim instead of fat *IS* a health issue. [and yes, I do look damn good!Nothing wrong with that!] Obesity is very unhealthy. Not only that, but healthy cholesterol levels reduce your risk of heart disease. That is exactly what this diet achieves. On the other hand, junk food diets [sugar and bread] are directly linked to obesity, cancer and heart disease. I am willing to bet you have had more junk food in the past 24 hours that I have had in the past 3.5 years.

I was starving when I got home, had some leftover pancakes with two big syrup packs, and felt like crap afterwards. Eating carbs at night like that was pure idiocy.

One need not be a muscle-man or a marathon runner to be concerned about their health. At 34, I am not at all looking forward to contracting diabetes - screw appearances, I wish to be healthy so I don't have to deal with the obesity and diabetes that my grandfather had (he died of a heart attack).
