You use good fat sources. I will say that the cultural samples provided in the report are accurate, I might also say that the climates they live in are conducive to thier diets.

I can show MANY more cultures that are more healthy and productive then the ones named in the articles. Asian cultures come to mind.

Carbohydrates are NOT devoid of nutrients. I have alreadt posted that they are the MAIN source of energy for the brain. None of the other macro nutrients provide this energy for the brain, which might explain why the cultures you mentioned are all dying and almost extinct and the cultures I mentioned are thriving. I know its reaching on my part but it is true.

I have NEVER met anyone on the atkins diet that convinces me. I can read all day on the internet and I have plenty of people telling me in person how great it is. However, they are NEVER what I would consider healthy or fit. I said that form follows function. I follow fighters, bodybuiders, martial artists, and athletes. NEVER has anyone on the atkins diet surpassed them. I know that this is anecdotal to someone on the internet but I have SEEN it.

I might also mention that virtually ALL of the Special Forces people I have known have been partial to my view, as well as all military personnel. I know ONE bodybuilder on the atkins diet and he is doing fine now but I will let you know how it turns out.

Senator Parduk has stated that NO pro athlete uses this diet and was met with scorn. The fact is that pro athletes are the pinnacle of fitness and should be emulated.

Studies from partisan scientists are interesting but biased.

Show me an example of the Atkins diet that makes me proud and I will re-evaluate my beliefs.

Arioch, yes that is really reaching because if carbs were essential to survivial, then one would die *WHEN* deprived of them, not 5 generations later. That makes no sense. One does die, however, when deprived of protein and fat. And Alaskans are certainly not dead by any stretch, just a little unhealthier, sicker and fatter with the advent of the typical high carb American food pyramid diet [per recent studies]. There is untold evidence of people surviving just fine without carbs.

Even so, noone here is advocating a NO carb diet and sees the value in the proper amount of UNREFINED carbs. There are some nutrients in vegetables that can't be found in meat, eggs, etc. No one denies that. Certainly NOT as nutritionally rich, but important to overall health.

Further, the Asians have a diet that consists of very little refined carbs and they do not have the obesity that we do. They are certainly not extinct! Nor are the French or Italian, who have moderate to high fat diets. You are basically claiming that any culture that has a high fat diet is extinct - or on thier way out - yet you produce NONE. Not one.

So maybe you aren't convinced despite NUMEROUS examples and studies but that is really your own blindess and stubbornness. None are so blind than those who refuse to see. It's not my job to convince you against your will and against all reason and logic. That is your issue entirely.

Numerous cardiologists, and researchers at prestigious universities like University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, Purdue, Harvard, Science Magazine among many ARE convinced and I think I will stick with them. In fact, my health warrants it.

He was met with scorn because it is a bogus point. Most people are not body builders. One does not judge a diet by WHO uses it but by the merits of the diet. I know of none who are on Weight Watchers or The Zone, however, that does not mean they are bad diets. If you are going to judge a diet on THIS bogus standard you have erected, then you have to HAIL the Atkins diet because Arnold Schwarzenegger is on it and writes about it in his book.
