CAIRO: The father of Egyptian gunman Hisham Mohammed Hadayet who opened fire at a check-in counter of Israeli carrier El Al in Los Angeles was a general in Egypt's army, his neighbors said Friday.
The former general, Ahmad Ali Hadayet, lives in the family household in the central Abbassiya district in Cairo, an AFP reporter said.
The information was confirmed by security sources here, but the family refused to talk to reporters.
On Thursday, Hisham Hadayet opened fire at the check-in counter of Israel's national airline El Al killing a 20-year-old female clerk and a middle-aged man, before being shot dead himself by an El Al security agent.
"I have known Hisham for several years. He was a normal person, he was religious but did not go often to the mosque," one of his neighbors said, requesting anonymity.
Hadayet's wife and two children returned to Egypt in June, security sources said. They added that his wife has been questioned, without elaborating.
FBI officials said that Hadayet was on their watch list, without saying why. They added he had lived in the United States since 1992 and worked as a limousine driver.
Egyptian officials kept mum Friday after the FBI revealed one of their fellow nationals carried out the Los Angeles attack. Officials at the interior ministry refused to comment when questioned by reporters.
Lawyer Montasser al-Zayet, who defends Egyptian Islamists in court, said Hadayet was not known to be a member of any Islamist movement.

This is gonna get ugly....er
All we can do is shoot em on sight Dave in a react mode as our intel/fibi sorts seem to be chasing their own tail of late. But wait they are safe to kill in the big cities as paper laws now stop lead bullets....
No ......but again, wait ,criminals who seek to kill us with no regard for their own lives as they attempt to accomplish such atrocities surely would'nt break a "law".
All who live in such alledged safe zones as directed by their polidiots and presstitutes (whom BTW have armed security) are "the" targets IMHO. Jackels don't tread where the guard dogs have teeth.
Sorry for the rant but this use of American citizens as "bait" for the FLEAS & LEO's to draw this trash into the open angers me.........
Stay Safe !

Isn't the real crime in America that of defending ourselves?

Watch list? Is that Southern for "Hold my beer and watch this>"

>You bet. No watching Jennings nor Blather or BrokenKaw in my house. If caught doing it, you get no tv for a week.
I sold my tv to Pawn America for $15. Guess what? After two days I don't even remember what is was.

When more Muslims speak out against terrorism, then I will leave the door open to trust. Until then, no dice.
BTW, my children's pediatrician is from Karachi, female, and a practicing Muslim. When I asked her how she felt about 9/11, she, in no uncertain terms, proceeded to tell me her disgust and sadness about the attacks. Apparently, she left Pakistan so she could practice medicine freely. I trust her b/c she has shown herself to be trustworty.

> Unfortunately we lost this one too, 3-1.
I'm afraid we lose every time our government goes into denial that we've been attacked. How's that for giving aid and comfort to the enemy? Not only the Egyptian airliner but how about the anthrax that originated within three miles of the flight school where the terrorists were trained? Not to mention the airliner that just happened to crash in Queens the day after Veterans day.
We don't give in to the terrorists when we modify our fat little lifestyles to prosecute a war. We give in to them when we put our heads in the sand and refuse to call a spade a spade. PC and Denial are what will be the death of us if we lose this war. As a local talk show host said "I predict they declare martial law after the first nuke goes off.'
The only sick satisfaction I get out of that is that if they win they will enjoy executing the liberals more than the conservatives because they're more depraved. I can hear them now;
Liberal: "but we're on your side -- we supported you against the right wing".
Bin Laden: "Die unclean homosexual woman dog bitch infidel whore!"
Not that they'll let the conservatives live either, but they won't enjoy killing us quite so much.
I don't really think this is going to happen yet. I think we're going to get beaten up some more and then we're going to pull the liberal pinko homosexual chestnuts out of the fire (again) and they won't be grateful, but that's life. As Ann Coulter says "You can't talk political solutions when the children are in the room."
Thank you for letting me spew.

Stop thinking that you're faced with Islam. You are right. On occasion I too have gotten carried away while posting to this board. Good to read your reminder.

When more Muslims speak out against terrorism, then I will leave the door open to trustIn the Gulf States alone, last I saw, we have over 10,000 troops on the ground. They would not be there if many Muslims didn't want us to wipe out the terrorists among them. The PM of Malaysia has condemned suicide bombers and picked up a dozen or so Al Qaeda members for us. We wouldn't be in Kabul right now if Muslims didn't help aid us. Much of this is going on quietly because there is no gain for those on our side to make a fuss about it.

DOD employee, eh? A member of my Naval Reserve intelligence unit, who as a civilian was a DIA employee, was gunned down by Islamic extremists outside her hotel in Cairo in 1995 or so. She had, by the way, a conspicuously Jewish name and appearance.

Domestic problems? I heard on the radio that police had gone to the home a few weeks ago because of a domestic dispute.

I think we will get some pretty good cooperations as these Jihadists will assinate Egyptian leaders if they feel that they are not Islamic enough. They know the old addage by now, "You are either with or against us!"

Darn if you don't sound like an old Navy Seal barking there.
My new motto is to have a five inch hose to shoot them with foam and a back up foam pump with a 4 inch hose.:)
