Got it ... Read it ... Hooked!OK, this book (and I usually don't like political intrigue/thrillers), has got me hooked. The only thing more addictive is Krispy Kreme Doughnuts! I'm ordering #2 as quickly as it is available.
I devoured book 1, despite being interrupted by work, kids, etc. The only thing I would have liked (if I didn't notice it, bear with me) would have been a glossary of terms, especially the abbreviations/acronyms, where I could just look for a particular one.
Now, for the effect: this book scared the hell out of me. The scenario is very plausible. I've worried for a long time about the "Aztlan contingency", some nation like China capitalizing on the unrest among Hispanics and offering them the bone of getting their old territories back if they help out.
I look forward to reading all of the series. SOON.

Dragon's Fury - Breath of Fire continues to sell well for a "self-published" work available in print as a "print on demand" book on AMAZON.COM and as either an Adobe Ebook, or a Microsoft Reader Ebook.
Of the 1.4 million printed books available on Amazon, the book ranks consitantly in the 20,000 range, and occassionally has climbed into the 10,000 range.
As an eBook (much smaller maket) the book is consistantly ranking in the top five for both the Adobe Reader "Mysteries and Thriller" section and in the Microsoft Reader "Mysteries and Thrillers" section.
STATUS OF VOLUME II
Volume II of the series, Dragon's Fury - Trodden Under is now complete as an intital draft! All chapters are finished and the work is being edited/reviewed by the editing team (see acknowledgements). I expect to have those edits back this week and to have the book in a condition to submit to the distributor, LighningSource sometime next week. I have to add the edits, add maps, diagrams, illustrations and then reformat the manuscript for printing in order to do that.
This means the book should be available for purchase on Amazon as a printed, trade paperback format and as an ebook by the end of July (I hope). I intend to run all sales through Amazon for this volume and future volumes, unless and until the work is picked up by a large publisher.
I believe readers will find Volume II even more exciting, more intrigueing and more compelling than Volume I ... at least I hope and trust it is so ... I sure think it is!
Thank you to everyone who is waiting for VOlume II for your patience, and to SO many others for your encouragement, kind words and faith.

Later, it seemed he's spend about 500 pages building up to 200 pages of what I liked. Then, even later, his 200 pages turned into almost absolute rah-rah for current policies regarding high tech, mobile warfare and air power.
Hence my own book where we get into some serious trouble after relying too long on that alone. Don't get me wrong, those things are critically important, but we'd best be prepared to take and hold ground for long periods of time if we ever face a committed foe willing to do the same and spend the price to do so ... soaking up our high tech warshots in the process.
I talk to folks today who actually believe the circumstances at Chosin were a U.S. victory because our one Marine division disabled so many attacking Chinese divisions. (I have an uncle who served there and am awed at what they were able to do). But, just the same, my answer to that is simply, "at the end of the day, who held the ground? In fact, who holds it to this day?"
The same principles applied then (more mobile, higher tech, air domincance) and e were pushed back by a foe willing to committ an almost undending supply of fodder to the fray. There may be those today, using assymetrical arfare, who are willing to do the same.
Oh well ... there I go. Those are just my own thoughts and ramblings. Just ignore the last three paragraphs or so and focus on the first one in this response.
That's all right. I'm a rambler myself. I'm not sure whether anything I have to say is worth focusing on but I ramble just the same. It seems, deadly important when it comes out my mouth though!

Amen to that. At the end of the day, the one standing on and holding the ground won ... irrespective of what he had to do to get there and irrespective of how much gadgetry was employed against him.
Volume II is complete with the initial rite and getting very close on edits. I will be adding maps and illustrations over the next few days, reformatting and then sending on to Lightning Source bu mid-next week. They disribute it.
Hopefully it will hit Amazon before the end of the month.
I really think readers are going to enjoy it.
Been so busy with the new job (and new home) lately that I've sort of been out of the loop. Looks like I'll be backing off the overtime (almost 100 hours/month since I started in Feb.) and hitting a normal routine now that we've hired on a full crew at my plant.
Anyway, you know you're welcome here anytime you're passing through. And this place is pretty much halfway for you and the tinman, so we might have to schedule a litle get together in the future when we all have some time.

Volume II of this is coming out in a few weeks. I am done writing and just getting all the edits and loose ends together so it can go to the distributor.

I believe its coming unless we change direction and focus soon. We're helping fund their build-up and when they believe they have the industrial and manufacturing base to a point where it is self sustaining ... they will move to evict us from the region and say "Thank you very much" for all the factories, tech., hard currency, etc.
And they will do it by misdirection, assymetrical warfare and many other principles in keeping ith their "Sun Tsu" approach.
Just my opinion.
May be through there as early as next Wednesday or Thursday on the way to Tejas with Jared in tow.

Am just finishing getting Volume II ready to go to press and will leave once I get that out the door.
End of July you say? Great! Gives me time to finish Harry Turtledove's latest alternative history story. "American Empire: The Center Cannot Hold ", which I just got from my older daughter for father's day. Clancy's latest, "Red Rabbit" is on order from my other daughter, but it won't be out until August 5th. They spoil me terribly. :)
This volume there is an extra set of eyes looking from a professional editor, FR's own bootless who runs Lightspeed Editing in the bay area ... so that will help.
It's funny, I never use to notice them ... but after all the proofing, which admittedly did not catch them all by any stretch, I find that I start to see the similar little errors that even work their way into the likes of a Clancy novel. Never saw them before.
Again, thanks for the patronge and hope the story was enjoyable, compelling and engrossing. I believe you will find volume II to be those things ... and to have a smaller number of those typos.
