Sharon Osbourne, the wife and manager of expletive-spewing rocker Ozzy Osborne, has been diagnosed with what her family spokeswoman called a "treatable form of cancer."
She is scheduled to undergo surgery today at an undisclosed location.
Ozzy Osbourne and the Osbourne children Aimee, Kelly and Jack were with Sharon Osbourne in Los Angeles last night, spokeswoman Lisa Vega said.
"The family is together," Vega said. "They will be with her through her surgery and recovery."
Vega declined to be specific about the type of cancer, saying, "I want to protect their privacy."
The spokeswoman said Sharon Osbourne only recently learned she had cancer, but described her as being "in good spirits."
"Her doctors have given her a good prognosis," she added.
However, the first two dates of Ozzfest 2002, slated for July 6 in Bristow, Va., and July 7 in Pittsburgh, have been postponed. It was not clear last night whether Ozzfest shows on July 19 and 20 at the PNC Center in Holmdel, N.J., would be affected.
America has gotten to know the Osbourne family since it opened their Beverly Hills, Calif., home to MTV's cameras. The show "The Osbournes" made its debut in March and has drawn millions of viewers.
Just minutes after the statement about Sharon Osbourne's cancer was made known, Ozzy Osbourne fans were discussing the news in Internet chat rooms.
"My prayers are with the Osbournes," posted Hot4Ozzy.
"Wow, that's ... bad," chimed in metallicafreak.

What sort of symbols? Can you describe some of them please?
AmericaUnited I am afraid that Hoosier Patriot is right on this one. I just surfed many of the Black Sabbath web sites including foreign language sites and found no satanic symbols but did find a great number of crosses of all types. I am not supporting Black Sabbath just looking into the facts.
Also found where the name comes from.
On Saturday, June 29, 1946, the British began a two week dragnet searching for Jews suspected of anti-British activities and incriminating documents. The immediate provocation was the June 17 Haganah attack in which 10 of the 11 bridges connecting Palestine with its neighbors were destroyed. This was the latest and most daring attack to that point against the British. Many Jewish officials were arrested and placed in detention camps, but the sweep failed to net any of the major underground commanders (David Ben-Gurion was in Paris at the time and the Irgun leader Menachem Begin evaded capture) or unearth significant arms caches. The Jews nevertheless called the incident "Black Sabbath."
The roles are kinda reversed today.
As a previous poster (John W) remarked, you have no proof that this man, his wife, or children, worship or follow Satan. He may be guilty of sinning, doing wrong or stupids things. Haven't we all? "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way." Isaiah 53:6. Rather than lash out with condemnation, God would have us pray: "If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life." 1 John 5:16. I do not approve of the foul language I hear come out of their mouths, as well as other things I have observed. However, I (we) must always remember, that but for the grace of God and His unconditional love and forgiveness, we all deserve eternal death. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8.
I will pray for Ozzy's wife, that her health be restored, for he and his family, that if they do not understand and know the Truth, that God will bring people into their lives, and, perhaps, through this illness, they will be willing and able to receive Christ into their lives and hearts. What wonderful music they would play in heaven to the Lord. Amen.
I'm not a Christian. Neither are people who are Buddists,Jews,Hindu's,or members of any other non-Christian religious cult. Is the "Devil" "our God",too?
Thanks for affirming much of what the left says in condemning Christians as small minded and hateful [/sarcasm]. It's good to know that because of the language I sometimes use while watching a ball game with the guys makes me a satanist.
C'mon, admit it. It gets you a little sexually excited to even think about that, doesn't it?
Did not George W. Bush call Clymer an "a$$hole"? Think it would be news to W the he is not a "Christian"? Or is it just in your eyes....
My father-in-law, a long time Church of Christ minister, keeps repeating the phrase, "The problem with Christianity is all the Christians." Wonder why?
:-)
I have no doubt you are a devoted Christian and wish to follow Christ in every area of your life. For that you are to be commended. However, if you do not love Ozzy--I mean truly love the man, you are violating one of the tenents of the Great Commission.
The Apostle Paul said he would willingly become accursed if his damnation would bring about the salvation of his fellow Jews, who were at that moment trying to kill him. That's the kind of love I'm talking about.
God has changed a lot of things about my Christian walk the past few years. He has chipped away at my religious spirit and showed me that to follow Him is to love everyone (as much as my human frailty will allow) as He loves them.
I used to be a huge Black Sabbath fan. Then, when I accepted Christ, I threw out all my metal albums--the not-so-bad with the bad, because I wanted no "satanic" influences in my house. I don't know if God really noticed. He is far more concerned with my heart. He would rather I love these folks than throw righteous sounding words at them.
Jesus died for Ozzy as much as he died for anyone else. And He loves Ozzy as much as He loves anyone else. If you get to know the man, as much as is possible from our distant standpoint, I think you will love him, too. Pray for him, but not until you love him.
If you are witnessing to someone, and they begin to use foul language, do you just walk away and condemn them to Hell? Is the "F" word more powerful than the Blood of Jesus?
I'm reminded of that old Steve Camp song, "Don't Tell Them Jesus Loves Them Until You're Ready to Love Them, Too."
well looks like a bunch of us better covert to islam FAST Sarcasm/
i thought i was a christian till i figured out that no matter what i do..its all wrong anyway...i believe in god..but ive grown weary of the "set" rules to get into heaven
