June 24, 2002 -- A Brooklyn woman and her 11-year-old granddaughter were killed when an out-of-control SUV jumped a curb and slammed into them as they sat in front of their building, police said yesterday.
"It's like a nightmare. I left my kids and their grandmother and went to work, and I come home to find out they are dead," said a distraught Roslyn Patrick, 30.

F = d(mv)/dt
It all comes together...
Yep. Somebody's got to get a handle on these homicidal SUVs. PV=nRT, after all.
Or she was calling to see if he mailed the child support checks yet.
This is why I do not drive a compact. I prefer the 'f' on my side of the equation.
You make an interesting point. However, my impression, admittedly purely anecdotal, is that:
SUV's are mentioned even when its a run of the mill PI MVA.
When, say, a Dodge Neon, hits and kills someone they don't mention the type of car involved.
We have a snow plow hook up on the Bronco. The Bronco slid on ice and hit a dirt bank. It bent the plow form as well as twisted the Bronco frame. Had we had a compact car, it would have been toast, and there would have been a funeral. Thank GOD for SUVs. (cost a fortune to fix it, though. Ching ching $$$$)
Well, I guess that's noble. Does that philosophy apply to gun ownership?
It all comes together...
Bingo.
But you must remember that formula is really only useful in this case by applying it to the pedestrian, not the SUV. The change in momentum (and therefore the impact force) of the SUV is essentially negligible compared to that of the pedestrian. And it would be be almost equally negligible if the vehicle were a Yugo...
Factor in things like braking force, angle of attack, impact area (this is where qualities unique to SUVs may indeed have some culpability - if I were to be struck by a vehicle, I'd much rather hit the windshield than the front bumper!), and the result is the same: dead pedestrians.
The driver should be in jail, if not already.
Wonder what's there to be 'protected' from in heaven? Anyone know?
I thought this sort of nonsensical reporting was reserved for the gun-control advocates where a gun does the killing instead of a person.
Is this the way liberals have chosen to explain that a gun kills and drunk drivers kill? Lets see where that leaves us; guns kill, drivers kill, and now vehicles kill. Considering the convoluted liberal logic this can probably be viewed as progress.
Did you guys miss this IowaHawk golden oldie? Muscle Cars attack Gore.
This is why, among other reasons, I drive a compact.
Unfortunately you lose when you're on the receiving end of the F.
That's true in so many ways. :o)
um, wait a minute.. that's not a joke- that's what they want to do...
IF f=ma, and
D=1/2*rho*S*Cd*V^2, AND
F = d(mv)/dt,
then that must mean that....
LS=MFT!
People kill people.
You mean your SUV allows you to control it? Mine is way out of control already..........
This is a sad story, I always hate to hear of anyone being killed, but the press has to blame the SUV, instead of the idiot 24 year old. No mention of alcohol, drugs or complete stupidity - which will finally be announced later, much later, after the blame on the SUV is firmly planted........
