What kind of Mordor-like cesspool must California be for such a failed Governor, failed in every aspect of his administration, to still have to be considered a favorite in the election? California would have to be beyond Mordor-like for the Cali-libs to start liking a Republican

Jorge posted this actuality:
No, in fact being a certified liar might help assure Davis of a bright future in the Democrat party.
Being a world class liar and exposed as such did not hurt the status of the Bent One, the Clintoon in the Rat Party. It seemed like every scandal made the Clintoon or his Hildebeast even more of a hero to the Rats!

He didn't pay attention because the envelope wasn't stuffed with cash.

You are correct. Simon's position regarding offshore oil drilling is pure politicking.
Oil, tar, and natural gas have been seeping into the Santa Barbara Channel at least since the latest low sea level mark, approximately 20,000 years ago, at the height of the last ice age. At that time, many of the oil-bearing formations were exposed to erosion at the earth's surface, around the edge of the Santa Barbara - Ventura geologic basin. Today, those erosional surfaces are still exposed or covered with a thin layer of sedimentation. Thousands of those seeps are active all over the basin, some now covered by rising sea level (about 350-400 feet in the last 20,000 years).
You can still hear the aged, hippy, eco-Nazis and their Hollywood socialist collaborators complain about the leaking oil production platforms. But the fact of the matter is, the operations in the Santa Barbara Channel have been the cleanest and safest in the world since 1969 (when the regulations were changed after the oil spill there). The natural seepage (on the order of 100-150 barrels per day) dwarfs the level of accidental spillage. The oil in runoff from the streets of Los Angeles after a heavy rain dwarfs the natural level of seepage for the same time period.

Simon got him good....that's an embarrassing 'get' that can't be easily explained away.

I doubt that we'll see this in any of the California lamestream media, and even if they did cover it, he'll just deny that he knew about it, that it was handled at a lower staff level, blah, blah, blah. Yes, they'll claim that the low-level flunky who signed for the summons forgot to pass it along. They'll fire said flunky with a nice under the table payment, and get back to politics as usual.
To: ElkGroveDan
... neither he nor Attorney General Bill Lockyer had been notified that the state was a defendant ... Either the secretary or the mail-room clerk will get fired for failing to pass on the documents. "I didn't know that!"

Not only that, but oil seepage was the primary cause of egg shell thinning of the pelicans on Annacappa Island that was blamed on DDT.

My condolences to you and all Californians. It is a great state. The truth is, the Pacific Ocean stopped the migration of misfits in this country. It seems they began to outnumber the "doers and builders" shortly after WWII.
To: gunnedah
Actually, it does. It's possible that lower eshelon didn't send word up the chain. Still, won't mind seeing Davis hammered on this.

This guy is just signing his own final paycheck a little bit, every day.

The California media has been hard on Davis. While not attacking him outright, they have not been suppressing unfavorable news about him the way the national media protected Clinton.
For Davis to blame this on lower level staff, he'd be setting up Lockyer as the fall guy. Lockyer was the guy who wanted to put Kenneth Lay in a cell with a guy named Spike, remember?
No, this issue is just plain incompetence, arrogance, or inattention. The media can't hide this when the whole nation is talking about it.

No, in fact being a certified liar might help assure Davis of a bright future in the Democrat party. What is more, the certificate actually exists, the proof of service!
To: ElkGroveDan
...Depends on the meaning of proof on paper. "Just because the papers were here doesn't mean I read them, I didn't know I was in possesion of them...blabla wofwof, lie, deny, bull shtt...
...The only thing politicians fear is not being re-elected...

I'll be interested to see if this shows up in any newspapers.

Every other one that I've heard of has the race dead even or Simon having a slight edge. You can tell that Davis thinks he's behind, given the big TV ad buy he's done to bash Simon.
To: doug from upland
He didn't pay attention because the envelope wasn't stuffed with cash.Excellent point. Unless it's printed on currency, Gray is unable to read it.

A Democratic LYING??
The hell you say.
To: AndrewC
At the top. Just making the point this may not be as much political hay as it appears. As inherently wrong-headed and sometimes evil liberals are, any organization run with people is bound to screw up. On the other hand, it's entirely possible Davis knew and is lying.
