His point about pledging allegiance to the flag coz it changes when we get a new State is about the weakest argument I've ever heard for anything.

He also indicates that we are pledging allegiance to 'the government' when we pledge allegiance to the Republic. How can that be when the government 'changes every day' by adding new employees and getting rid of old ones? Sheesh.

You've brought up an interesting point, is referencing "under God" an establishment of any particular religion? It is clear it references at least religion exists in the fact that there is "something" greater than the individual that the People of the United States is under the control of.

By the way, I am a servant of Jesus the Christ (a Christian), and I agree the government in its official capacity should not condone any particular religion. I do not believe that is what the pledge does, it only recognizes that something greater exists, and to me is just wasted words, but does not violate the first ammendment.

That doesn't hold to much water, as a MAJORITY of Americans don't believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven. Which likely (likely=not my call just going by the word of God) going to hell.

A MAJORITY of Americans also believe that the United States is (some version) of a Christian nation which it clearly was not.

The TRUTH is simply that we ARE a nation UNDER GOD, and not just ANY "god" but the God of the Bible, and it is only through the finished work of Jesus Christ that we can ever be right with God.

God has His way of dealing with Nations, and its not by "LUCK" that America is as successful as we are. It's by the mercy of God, and becuase as a Nation (Consitutionaly) we give Him his proper place.. When we as a nation (Constitutionaly) turn our back on Him, and tell Him we don't need His divine protection any longer... <-- That single event will mark the END of prosperity and we will immediately become like any other Christ rejecting nation.

I usually don't take this much time to respond to a single person, but I trust you were sincere in your question, so I feel I must be sincere in my response.

GOD is not a religion it is a generic term that many religions have adopted. Religion is not just a philosophy based on theism. Atheism is one of the most dogmatic religions we have. This actually comes very close to establishing Atheism as the state religion. It sets the precedent for all references to God or Creator in government documents, from the Declaration of Independence to our money, to be ruled unconstitutional.

From all that I have heard, the lawsuit was a sham from the get-go. The guy claimed his daughter had been forced to recite the Pledge. Then, after the ruling, it comes out that she did so voluntarily. From everything I have read, he was doing it all for himself.
