If we have a bad attack in this nation, the Christian Arabs might want to stay away from the Muslims and the Mosques. There would be a lot of seriously upset Americans. People who even look Mid-Eastern might want to stay indoors for a few days.

Arabs and Islamists are unrepentant braggarts. Take anything they say (oh, like, "Mother of All Battles") and discount by a factor of about 10 million to get to the truth. These people talk. And that's about all they can do. Arabs are the worst fighters the world has ever seen (next to maybe the French). They're also the biggest talkers.

If an Arab says he's going to kill you, it probably means he's going to steal that nickel you dropped on the pavement by accident.

And many non-Arabs are Mohammedans. The fact is, we don't have the convenience of being able to identify our enemies just by looking at them. It's one of the things that make this foe so formidable.

It is also dangerous for other groups. Even Sikhs were being attacked after 9/11.

I personally don't think the hijacking of airliners ploy has much legs left to it.

For hijacked airliners to really work, it has to be an attack coordinated en masse, and directed against a variety of strategic targets (centers of population, dams, nuclear power plants, government buildings, the Federal Reserve, Wall Street, etc. etc.). Sure, an occasional airliner may crash into something, somewhere, someday, but, like in Monty Python's "Holy Grail" movie, we, the USA, would be able to shrug it off, saying "Ah, nothing but a mere flesh wound!"

To prospective hijackers, the element of surprise is gone forever in these sorts of hijacking attempts. Nowadays, any attempt at a hijacking will be met with deadly resistance.... sure, the incompetent or compromised screeners at airports may let a few hijackers through the screening process, but by and large I don't think airline cockpits are that penetrable any more. Sure, hijackers may hold crew and passengers hostage, and threaten to (or actually) start killing off people until they get into the pilot's seat. But I think pilots are on strict orders to not let ANYone into the cockpit. They would simply take the plane and ditch it in the nearest immediate ditching site, even if it were out at sea, rather than risk it being hijacked and flown into a strategic land target.

Personally, I'm all for continued profiling of Middle Eastern (or any other suspicious) passengers booked on passenger flights. If there are any more than 3 or 4 Arab-descended males known ahead of time to be booked on a flight, I think the flight crew simply needs to be made aware of it, and perhaps they could quietly place a few extra air marshals on that particular flight. End of discussion. Nobody knows any better, nobody gets hurt. And nobody's civil rights get unduly trampled.

Fly the friendly skies! You're now free to move about the country!

They are cowards. But they're also vicious, soul-less barbarians. Just because they wouldn't take you on face-to-face in a million lifetimes doesn't mean they won't slit your throat from ear to ear when you're at your weakest (like Daniel Pearl).

Whatever they are, they need to be exterminated like rats.

A very good observation! It is said that, "The morning that Saddam Hussein finally gets his hands on a nuclear weapon, it will drop on Tel Aviv that afternoon" If Saddam hasn't been able to get one yet with all his money and resourses, I doubt that Al Quiada can.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think they're going to take out 4 million Americans with hijacked jets. I don't think they're going to take out a million Americans on any day in our lifetimes. I just think they'll keep coming, a plane into the Sears Tower here, a truck bomb into a federal building there, a suicide bomber in a mall on Black Friday, and on and on and on. This is how they seem to wage war. Death by a thousand cuts. The four million number they're putting out there is probably just a lofty ultimate goal, like driving Israel into the sea. It'll never happen, but they'll sure as hell die trying.

I certainly hope that no nuclear attack takes place, especially with the connivance of Saudi Arabia, because if it does, public reaction may dictate there may be no further purpose for the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.

I heard similar stories about Armenian Christians being attacked. Going after dark-skinned people randomly on the street obviously isn't the way to go about defending your country.

I tend to agree with you (albeit from the standpoint of one of those who just doesn't know). I think we may end up going the path of Israel, being subjected to hit and run terrorist attacks that could go on for years. I think a really "big" attack could force a retaliation that would be unacceptable to the Arab world (such as the flattening of Mecca), so I fear the operatives, whoever they may be, will simply stick to pin-prick attacks which, though messy and demoralizing, won't necessarily cripple us totally as a nation. We'll survive, but we won't be the "good old U.S.A.".... we'll simply be the U.S.A.

Just flew in last night from CA. Was taken aside and scanned...Seemed my under wire set off the metal detector. Not bad for a white haired -Granny. Of course there were five single male traveler with passports, that to my knowledge went through unchallenged.

Let's get real! Doesn't do much good checking me, but may have caught someone, if terminal was connected to FBI files.

I agree, the FBI and INS and other enforcement agencies are going to have to clean up their acts and synchronize and share their intelligence with other agencies. Everybody's got to be in the loop on this -- in short, the G-men are gonna' have to do their jobs, just like they did back in the old days! And to heck with PC sensitivities about "racial profiling" and all that other rubbish (gosh, "racial profiling" -- what an offensive concept, lordy!!).

I'm a big strappin' white guy, and I've been scanned and inspected and scrutinized by the police too, in my travels around this country. Yeah, so?? Big deal! It never bothered me!

It's just that as someone said....It's not profiling ......It's a line up and their identifying the suspects. Single, male, ME......etc
