Greenfield - A man who tried to rob a Greenfield gun shop at knifepoint Thursday afternoon was shot in the chest by the shop owner, police said.
The victim, identified only as a 57-year-old Greenfield man, was taken to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa, according to police.
Police have yet to interview the victim because the shooting left him unconscious, Detective Sgt. Paul Schlecht said.
Schlecht said later Thursday that the man's wound was not life threatening. The man's condition was not available Thursday evening from Froedtert.
Schlecht said the shooting took place at about 3 p.m. inside Buckhorn Guns, one of four businesses located in a plaza in the 2700 block of W. Ramsey Ave.
The parking lot of the plaza was surrounded by yellow police tape Thursday afternoon as police investigated the shooting.
Schlecht said he did not know what the suspect demanded but said there is nothing to indicate the account of the incident that the store owner gave police was not true.
He said the store owner, 44, shot the man once in the chest and that apparently no one else was inside the store when the shooting took place. The store owner was not injured.
Schlecht said the case is being referred to the Milwaukee County district attorney's office, which will review the actions of the suspect and the shop owner. A case review could happen today, he said.
What a nice American name. Reporting on a gun store incident. Does he do stolen dynamite reports, also?
Even as a lawbiding citizen, when I go into a gun shop, I feel that those working their are well armed. Most stores around here have big signs saying no unholstered handguns are to be carried in the store. The last time I brought my 357 Mag into a store it was in a backpack and a holster and I proved to the guy it was unloaded as I took it out.
The victim?!!! How about the perpetrator? The victim is the person that was being robbed. When will these left-wing reporters get it straight?
Very observant.. I think there are 'stylistic' rules that writers have to use (maybe written by lefties) but it is disgusting when you read that crap. "Scumbag" would be far more on the mark I think.
A man who tried to rob a Greenfield gun shop at knifepoint Thursday afternoon was shot in the chest by the shop owner, police said. How can the victim in this case be both 44 and 57? And how can he be both injured and taken to the hospital and at the same time not injured? This is some pretty poor writing. This "journalist" almost sounds like he's writing about two different people! The victim, identified only as a 57-year-old Greenfield man, was taken to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa, according to police.

Note to gunstore owners: Upgrade to the next higher caliber.
Maybe, he was just trying for an insanity defense, if he pulled off the robbery and was later caught. The idea would seem insane for starters.

I think that may have some connection with the fact that the presstitute's name is Jamaal Abdul-Alim.
It was the first thing I noticed in the article.
Or as I like to say, "If they were smart they wouldn't have to steal for a living".
Years ago a bunch of us decided to buy a six-pack in a pretty whitebread town in Indiana.
One of us, who happened to be probably the only black guy within twenty miles, volunteered to run in and buy it while the rest of us waited in the car.
It was night time, and the store was on a street with pretty heavy traffic.
He decided to do a bit of theater, and after he made his purchase he exited the store by *running* out with the paper bag tucked under his arm, looking frantically right and left, then going tearing down the sidewalk at full speed as if he had just robbed the joint.
It was hilarious, but he was really lucky he didn't get tackled and beaten up by a bunch of local rednecks -- or cops. Just imagine how long it would take to straighten out *that* little misunderstanding...
