Couric v Coulter
The Fourth of July is next week, but you'd think it was happening right now if you watched The Today Show on Wednesday morning. The fireworks were flying all over the studio during an interview between Katie Couric and Ann Coulter regarding her new book Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right.

What made the interview so riveting was the fact that Couric basically exemplified everything Coulter writes about in her book.

It was a classic example, being played right off the pages. Of course, Couric attempted to downplay and flat out deny an example of her own bias concerning Ronald Reagan - an episode Coulter covers in the book.

We say "attempted" because the Media Research Center did some digging after the interview to find out the real deal behind the accuracies and inaccuracies of their argument, and lo and behold, it looks like Couric is down for the count. She did try revive herself by going for the jugular and getting personal, enquiring about such things as Coulter being dropped as columnist from National Review Online. However, I only think it served to prove the book's point more.

The Today Show wasn't the only hot seat Coulter sat in Wednesday morning. She also appeared on MSNBC, and again, the whole line of questioning by the host was just so typical of the erroneous criticism of the right. Even my name was brought up in the interview.

You can hear excerpts from the programs in the links below, along with the final score provided by the Media Research Center, and my own recollections of an experience I had with Ms. Couric during an interview.

You know, I have to say I was initially shocked to hear that Couric even would have Ann on.. then I realized she'd probably only do it for shock value, not caring what came of it. The Katie crowd will rally behind their little cheeky hero no matter what, so why not? Plus I'm sure Katie equates money with success, and she of the new NBC millions must figure she's untouchable.
At least Ann made a tiny few dunderhead Today show fans at least think about the issue (we hope).

It sounds like Coulter did well. It almost makes me wish I had watched Today today. Maybe this is NBC's attempt to pretend to be "fair and balanced."

I'm sure Katie wanted the nation to watch and think "that horrible Republican is beating up on America's sweetheart...poor perky little Katie."

Maybe Katie should shut up and just show a film of her colonoscopy again.

Either way, the same thing comes out. It just comes out of different orifices....I think.

Oh, poor Little Katie Communist -- it's just so horrible that her good buddie Bubba isn't Prez anymore. Then Al - he got so robbed in Florida, it was tragic. Then those horrid Middle Eastern men had to take those airplanes and inspire all this politically incorrect profiling of Muslims. The big salary isn't enough, guess it's time to bash Brian again and go get a make-over at Bergdorf's.

It's funny to see all the spitting harridans of the left media bristle at the knowledge that their adorable rogue rapist is no longer in office.

Yeah and it was funny to hear Rosie finally say it!

     Sh*t or shi'ite.

Rosie is a coward. I mean that in the sense that Hillary is a coward. Hillary found out that the tough b*tch persona was turning voters off, so she assumed the traditional First Lady role (to a certain extent) and played the shrinking violet when any of her corruption was brought to light. Rosie has always been a loudmouth dyke who is very unappealing. She found out that playing nice in front of the soccer moms could get her a nice little saccharin show. Then, she started letting her big-mouth true self show through with Tom Selleck. Then, she made the statements that she couldn't wait until her contract was up so she could quit being so nice. She thinks it is okay to go back to old ways, but she is turning on the people who have been supporting her. I think we are seeing the last of Rosie.

My father landed at Normandy. He is a hero. Katie is an info-babe, nothing more.

Oh of course. I agree with you and with Drudge, who said she gets a certain amount of brownie points, but it would have been much better if she'd called Slick on his repugnancy at the time.
As for seeing the last of her, I sure hope you're right.

Your father is definately a hero. Katie thinks she's a hero too, though. It's hell getting up at 4 a.m., haven't you heard?

There was SO MUCH MORE to this interview than this thread indicates. I didn't see it...but I saw a mini-replay of it on Fox cable this AM and was STUNNED. Ann was truly, and I mean truly, magnificent. She did not cow-tow or bend or reverse herself or fidget or do anything that would mark her as backtracking on her stance in her book. She was, imho, breathtaking! She was direct with Katie and little miss colic didn't like it-one bit.
And ya know, Katie's face looked mean. There really was a meanness there that was palpable. What a sorry brainless jerk this cutthroat commie is.
How I would love to see a replay of the entire interview.
Ever notice how the make-up depts of the major news shows on the major nets always dump on the conservatives. They had Ann looking orange today. They have done this to others....really smucky stuff. I wonder why conservatives NEVER seem to catch this little nasty effort the commie nets always indulge themselves in when forced to entertain the enemy on the right?
