I have just as much right to say those two words as you do to not say them.
No one is arguing against such. The argument is over whether the government can endorse the implication of the existence of deities. Note that this is not the same as endorsing the nonexistence of deities -- there is a difference between saying "there are no gods" and not saying anything with respect to gods at all.

Those only apply to people who see their deaths coming soon enough to utter that...
For a lot of people that isn't the case. Their last words may be identical regardless of religion or lack thereof: "what bus?"

The argument is over whether the government can endorse the implication of the existence of deities. That has already been settled. The government can and does; if you don't think so, take a look at the change in your pocket.
I wish you all would quit trying to make this some sort of moral choice; it's not; this is about a SMALL group of people trying to take the word God off everything on earth. And your argument only aids and abets them.

The lawsuit filed is over whether or not that phrase on pocket change should have ever been put there in the first place.
It certainly is not about having "God" removed from absolutely everything on earth. I've not heard of any organizations petitioning to have the word "God" removed from private buildings.

You must not be paying attention.

I'm kind of fond of "As long as there are math tests, there WILL be prayer in schools."
To: Jzen
Say, you never did answer my question regarding affirming to tell the truth in courts. What does it have to do with expressing a belief in deities or lack thereof?
To: Howlin
And you're absolutely free to pray before the test or silently during the test. So what's your point?

Don't you get it? By not sponsoring an official government-sanctioned prayer, the school is pushing the belief that there is no God! (the God whose nonexistence is being pushed isn't quite clear, though).

And you're absolutely free to pray before the test or silently during the test. So what's your point? And whats your point other than to toss out inane non-sequiters.
To: Dimensio
Of course ;)
I just wanted to hear his/her opinion on this.

And you're absolutely free NOT TO SAY THE PLEDGE. But the rest of us want our children to.
To: Dimensio
The lawsuit filed is over whether or not that phrase on pocket change should have ever been put there in the first place. Incorrect. The lawsuit was filed over the use of the word God in the pledge of allegiance. Since the official use of the pledge is banned it is another aspect to the national narrative of this country that has been removed from passing on to further generations.

My point was that children can pray in school.
His post insinuated that prayer is completely outlawed in schools but that children will pray nonetheless because they are scared as hell of math tests.

Well, the rest of you can let your children say the pledge. The ruling simply means that the government cannot lead the recital of the pledge with the "under god" insertion (though your children are perfectly free to add it in if they desire).
To: Howlin
And they can if they want to.

I'm happy this happened. I think its hilarious that the bitter atheist crowd has to stop others from expressing their beliefs. Funny also that they can't stand to hear a word or concept they supposedly don't believe in. Keep it up. The winds of change are in the air. The sleeping tiger is awake--and we're not gonna take it anymore.

Oops, my bad. Oh well, it looks like its off to the re-education camp for me.
