His post insinuated that prayer is completely outlawed in schools but that children will pray nonetheless because they are scared as hell of math tests. And all this time I thought he was just making a joke...

Sorry, but my irony-meter somehow refuses to work propperly here on FR. I've seen so many statements which I've considered to be jokes but that have turned out to be meant dead serious. So I assume people mean what they say (at least those I don't know very well).
However, joke or not, what I said is still true.
And BTW I'm quite conservative, I just happen to lack a belief in a deity.
