Wedded bliss not a priority for U.S. bachelors (because they enjoy a sexually active single life)

Men won't commit to marriage because they enjoy a sexually active single life in a social climate that doesn't push them to marry, a new report says. Young men are indeed "commitment phobic," which is bad news for young women who want build a family before they get too old, said researchers Barbara Dafoe Whitehead and David Popenoe, who run the National Marriage Project at Rutgers University. "The median age of first marriage for men has reached 27, the oldest age in our nation's history," Mr. Popenoe said. "If this trend of men waiting to marry continues, it is likely to clash with the timing of marriage and childbearing for the many young women who hope to marry and bear children before they begin to face problems associated with declining fertility," he said. There are several specific reasons for why young men are avoiding marriage, Mr. Popenoe and Mrs. Whitehead said yesterday in their 2002 State of Our Unions report, titled, "Why Men Won't Commit: Exploring Young Men's Attitudes About Sex, Dating and Marriage." The report is based on interviews with 60 single men, 25 to 33, who live in four parts of the country. Primarily, young men are enjoying a sexually active single life

I'm pro import myself. The oriental models tend to be more subservient. And you can lie to them about US marital customs and get them to do those things American wives don't like to do, just don't let them talk to anybody.

LOL. From the FR handbook.

I know, that was just such a line opening there. Normally I would never say anything like that to someone I don't know. But that was just too ripe for the picking.

On a more serious note I think all wives think they're generous in that department. I think most men might beg to differ. The two genders are on different cycles for very good biological reasons. Unfortunately for us the men have the shorter cycle.

I am 36, single, and I just got a Schnauzer puppy. If raising this dog is something like raising a child, I am NOT ready for children. I am totally worn out by this dog.

If a man wants to continue having a healthy sex life, the last thing he should do it get married.

Amen to that!

Willie Green would probably want to put tarrifs on such foreign imports.

Could become the only tax folks would willingly pay!

When you go on vacation you can stick the dog in a kennel. Can't do that with kids.

We have 2 boxers and I keep trying to get another one but my wife won't let me.

Its like the old joke: you can always tell when a single guy is about to get married; he's walking around saying "Now I am going to get laid all the time!" You can also tell when a married guy is about to get a divorce; he's walking around saying "Now I am going to get laid all the time!"

Which I think translates to "you get it more often than my friends say they give it". Which is disturbing right there. Oddly enough everyone in the clique says the same thing which means they're all lieing, either to each other or their husbands. Given the tales i've heard coming out of sororities and "sisterhoods" I'd say they're lieing to each other (why are women so mean in groups larger than 3).

Because they concoct their schemes in their group trips to the bathroom.

And why I only allow a group of 2 women in bed with me at a time. LOL!

Please don't mix us in with the broads who use sex as a bargaining chip or a way to control/punish their men. Some women think their ***** are made of gold and that the man should be grateful for any scrap he gets.

That ain't us.

Oh no, not the bargaining chip, they're vile b!tches who should be slain (right after the sex as a weapon women). The problem is men are pretty much always in the mood. Women aren't. So if a couple has sex every single time the woman wants to what you'll have is a couple where the woman thinks she's generous because they're doing it as often as she'd like, but the man still has room to complain because they aren't having sex nearly as often as he'd like.

Remember, we have a name for women that like sex as much as men: nymphomaniac. And they are prized possesions indeed... for a while. Turns out certain parts just aren't capable of keeping up with demand over the long haul, resulting in chafing and irritation.

The truth is, marriage law is unjust and men know it.

A woman can leave a man for any reason, or no reason at all (which is fine), but then also get "half", no matter who earned it (which is not fine). They get the kids, the house and the car. The man gets stuck with the bill, even if the mother refuses court ordered visitation rights. And no, the court will not enforce visitation orders.

When you leave someone, you leave their bank account too. Women think that marriages come with 'golden parachutes', somehow entitling them to "what they've become accustomed to". They'll even co-habitate with their new boyfriend (possibly the one they were cheating with during the marriage) to avoid marriage so they can keep the alimony payments coming. This liability can ruin a man financially, keeping him from establishing a new family.

As Chris Rock said about alimony, "When you leave a restaurant, you're done eatin. They don't owe you a steak."

Women routinely lie, and get restraining orders against husbands for fictitious acts of abuse. This is seen not only as a bargaining chip in the divorce/child custody proceedings, but it also is an act of revenge. These restraining orders completely lack due process or any need for evidence or probable cause, and rely solely upon the word of a an often vindictive person with every motive to lie, and no consequences for dishonesty. The affected men are denied their 2nd Amendment rights in this case, and their weapons are confiscated.

Even worse, women can cheat on their husbands, have illegitimate children, lie about who the father is, and if the husband finds out, even in the presence of DNA analysis, courts will enforce a child support order against him for children who aren't his. Fraud charges against the wife? Never happen.

Largely due to feminists, marriage law has never adopted from when women weren't able to support themselves. What we have now, is equal rights for women without equal responsibilities. If women are so upset that men won't marry them, then they should be the ones lobbying for marriage law reform. If not, then they can quit complaining when their biological clock runs out.

So why would any sane man voluntarily enter such an unjust contract? Marriage law must be reformed, or men will continue to shun it. The unjustness of marriage law undermines marriage as an institution. If things continue unreformed, marriage may become a relic of the past.

Single and happy, and I do get irritated by the presumption that something is wrong with me for being so. The author of the article sums it up as "committment-phobic," as if preferring the single life is some sort of mental pathology. It isn't. Nor is marriage merely an approved social venue for the physical sex act. Even a crusty old bachelor like me knows perfectly well there's one heckuva lot more to a relationship than sack dancing. One would hope that might dawn on pop psychologists, too.

That means when he was younger he wanted lots more. It's just how guys are. I'm not placing blaim. There are good solid biological reproductive reasons why if a man comes home for a nooner he'll be ready again by the time he gets back to the office. There are also good solid biological reproductive reasons his wife will be satisfied for at least a day. The end result of that math is that men never get as much as they want, and women that are giving as much as they want think they must be completely satisfying their man's desires. That's why all of the societies truly dominated by men have polygamy, the math can't work out in the mans favor unless he's outnumbered. Don't sweat it, part of growing up for a man is learning that you will be horny for every moment of your adult life outside of that 20 minutes or so right after, it's called self control.

The findings in this study might put a crimp in their style:

Spermicide chemical may raise risk of HIV

Spermicides used by millions of men and women worldwide may increase the risk of HIV transmission, rather than prevent it, according to a report released Tuesday by the World Health Organization and a research institute of Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Health authorities are now warning women at high risk of contracting HIV to avoid a chemical called nonoxynol-9, found in at least 18 over-the-counter spermicides sold worldwide. Researchers say the product still works well in preventing pregnancy and isn't a problem for women at a lower risk of contracting HIV, such as non-IV drug users in monogamous relationships.

The ingredient has been used for five decades and is commonly found in a wide range of contraceptives, such as lubricated condoms, gels, creams, foams, suppositories, sponges and films. About 11 percent of American women of reproductive age use products with spermicides, according to Dr. Henry Gabelnick, director of the Contraceptive Research and Development program, an EVMS institute located in Northern Virginia.
