Men won't commit to marriage because they enjoy a sexually active single life in a social climate that doesn't push them to marry, a new report says. Young men are indeed "commitment phobic," which is bad news for young women who want build a family before they get too old, said researchers Barbara Dafoe Whitehead and David Popenoe, who run the National Marriage Project at Rutgers University. "The median age of first marriage for men has reached 27, the oldest age in our nation's history," Mr. Popenoe said. "If this trend of men waiting to marry continues, it is likely to clash with the timing of marriage and childbearing for the many young women who hope to marry and bear children before they begin to face problems associated with declining fertility," he said. There are several specific reasons for why young men are avoiding marriage, Mr. Popenoe and Mrs. Whitehead said yesterday in their 2002 State of Our Unions report, titled, "Why Men Won't Commit: Exploring Young Men's Attitudes About Sex, Dating and Marriage." The report is based on interviews with 60 single men, 25 to 33, who live in four parts of the country. Primarily, young men are enjoying a sexually active single life

I want children so I suppose if I am going to marry someone close to my own age I should get busy and find her quick. :)

Start by changing your screen name. No woman who is seeking a real man to marry and with whom to raise a family is going to want to marry "Sloth." With love and all due respect. :o)

JAPs, to put it nicely, are demanding and 'always right'.

"BBW?"

Usually translated as Big Beautiful Woman, though I prefer Buttfaced Buffalo Womyn myself. Not that I have anything against BBWs (heaven knows most guys are no gifts to nature), just the ones who have gotten the feminist itch and have an insufferable attitude.

a hot, loving wife who enjoys pleasing her man

Please her, i.e. make sure every time the act is over she is cross eyed, and you are..."tongue tied"...and she will remain an HLW who EJP.

sorry, maybe over the top, but c'mon guys, it's not that complicated...give a little, get a lot...

The smart kind. As soon as they get married, they take sex at will conditioning the woman to that fact of life. You can tell these from the rest, because they ALWAYS smile. : )

... the Saudi school of husbandry?

beat me to it.

any man who forces a woman to have sex is a...colloquialism for a small cat.

Unfortunately, that statement is probably true nowadays. I think that after marriage is when sex should START.

And if you call them a JAP they deny it and point to friends of theirs and claim that they are JAPs.

"I'm not a JAP, Danielle is a JAP, Lisa is a JAP, Me, I'm not a JAP."
--Phantom Lord's JAP wife.

My 10th grade biology teacher once told the class, and directed it at the guys, that if you have a girlfriend and down the road want to get married get to know the mother. She will turn into her mother.

It seems to be a fairly true statement

Honestly ladies, who here has not turned into their mother?

Marriage is a legal, binding contract that enforces the temporary, transitory, emotional state known as love - with severe sanctions.

That's is why one shouldn't marry just for love. You need a huge dose of friendship, and a sense of partnership as well. "Love" ebbs and flows, but if the foundation is strong, it will survive.

....why should a man buy a cow if he can get the milk for free?

I don't know, having been 'free-range' myself, that kind of thinking breaks marriage down into something primarily about sex, which I think is a limiting view of it.

Sex is a very important part of marriage.....I was lucky or blessed enough to meet & marry my true love at a young age....I never roamed the range!

Even after many many years of married life ...sex is still very important. We also make each other laugh, enjoy one another's company; share similar values and take good care of each other.

I love to see history turned 180 degrees at FR! Feminism is designed to make females better economic units. But that means less time for them to do the housework, so, well logic would tell us that the other adult occupant of the house needs to engage in more domestic labor.

These single guys are hardly getting more in the sack than married men (I'm sure they'd report truthfully about that!) but are just not going to be picking up ANYBODY's socks but their own.

Cleaning up after yourself and your loved ones and dependents isn't Marxism. But it seems to damage the frail male ego (present company excluded, of course. I know you must have picked up my Crayolas forty years ago or thereabouts......!)

Between you and Phantom Lord, you are really dpressing me. Then again my goal is to marry a CAJ (conservative American Jewess), not a JAP.

As for the sex with JAP's, I've found that the problem isn't their biological impulses but their desire to be a princess.
