Will the perky Katie interview Ann? Will Ann make the perky Katie cry? Will the perky Katie chicken out and have Matt do the interview?
Never thought these words would cross my lips, I can't wait for the Today show!!
The interview will probably be short but oh so SUH-WEEEEEEEEEEET!

"Good morning. The Gipper was an airhead! . That's one of the conclusions of a new biography of Ronald Reagan that's drawing a tremendous amount of interest and fire today, Monday, September the 27th, 1999."Katie Couric, Today show co-host
What a LIAR! If NBC had any integrity at all, they would make her give an on the air apology!!!!
I would fire her yesterday.

And it shows she didn't go beyond an undergraduate degree. All I can think is that the show saps her of everything--interacting with cooks, dog trainers and soccer moms. She seemed like such a thoughtless twit on Rosie. There didn't seem to be much there outside of her prefabricated liberal conclusions.

Please tell me she's not wearing pumps with shorts. That would NOT be a good thing. I like the Daisy Duke look, but then, I'm a guy.
To: Johnny Shear
Sorry, JS, but some women like pumps, too. With pretty much anything...
or nothing, as the case may be...

I'd love to tell this all to her face - because you can tell she doesn't realize how ugly she actually is.
You're very mean. Why would you ever be tempted to say something so horrible to ANYONE? I don't care how much you hate somebody's personality, their politics, whatever--it's plain evil to convince someone that he or she is ugly.

So the linked through pics register a "hit" every time this thread is accessed? I didn't know that Yep - most of the free services do this unfortunately - if too much traffic hits their server it costs them more that it is worth, so they set a limit.

I PARTUCULARLY hate it when the hosts goad their guests into HUGE shouting matches...everybody screaming at the tops of their lungs so it's impossible to understand whay they're saying.I agree, and the whole point of my post was to note that the problem is not limited to Katie Colon and other liberal scum. I hope Sean Hannity is lurking out there in Freeper Land and takes these comments to heart, although I suspect that the show's format -- screaming and yelling -- comes not from Mr. Hannity, but from the people who sign is paycheck. Either way, I turn the show off when the shouting starts.

Yes - I am being very mean. It's Katie Couric.

Hey, I don't go to strip bars and I have almost all my teeth! Well I left my teeth at the strip bar. Guess I'll have to go back and see if I can find them.

I am quite sure that our so-called "cognitive elites" in major media and entertainment have found a willing avatar in Katie Couric. Notice that we are now, pre election 2002, being presented with the return of Begala, Carville, Donahue and a host of the worst trash in the Democratic fold. I had some confidence after our permissive government its poloicies and the all to PC culture would get a clue. Now I am concerned again that the message of the 2 largest
edifices of US economic acheivement literally levelled have not had the proper impact.

How does that make Couric a liar on that point???? What Couric said in the 1999 lead-in to the interview with Morris was that MORRIS called Reagan an airhead. He did, in his book.
Look, here are the facts. In an earlier thread, I disagreed with those here who said Couric would be "too scared" or "too intimidated" to do the interview personally. I pointed out that Couric, even though she is liberal, is an intelligent and articulate journalist who is more than capable of holding her own in a difficult interview. I also pointed out that she has a large staff of assistants who would make sure she was well-prepared for the interview. She is and they did. Period. So all the cynical people who thought Couric would duck the show today or cry when confronted by Coulter, etc. were dead wrong, just as I said they would be.
The verdict is in. It was a good debate. Couric held her own, and Coulter held her own, and no big victory was won by either side. Deal with it.

The fact that Couric focused on that one particular conclusion is prima facie evidence of liberal bias. I haven't yet read Coulter's book (because it's on the way to my doorstep from Amazon.com), so I don't know whether Coulter claims specifically that Couric flat-out called Reagan an airhead, but she started the whole interview of Morris with it, which is very telling.

I came to my office late so I could watch this....and I thought Ann was more subdued than usual and Couric was a fake smiled shrew. Boy howdy...the venom dripping from Couric was thick...whew! I noticed both had their yams "tightly wound" in an obvious defensive posture. Ann did ok and didn't let Couric dominate the interview even though she sure tried.
One thing to recognize is that for some reason Couric really felt a need to put on the facade that she is not a liberal spokesgal....when she so obviously is....that in itself is telling. Maybe just maybe ...the networks airheads are getting a little sensitive about the mood of many of us out here in flyoverland.
One last note...Did anyone else notice how on close-up shots of Couric that her make-up and mascara had a certain Tammy Faye Baker look to it?..LOL
I'm glad I watched it.....I just wish Ann would have made Katie really lose it in front of her dear clueless soccer mom audience. I give it a 7 out of 10 rating.

Her pounding of "You were fired" was just brilliant...For a second grade playground argument. Lets all raise our hands if we, too, were ever "fired" from a job.Arghh, I wish that I would have seen the interview. Katie insisted that Ann was fired, huh? That's a perfect illustration of what Ann's books alleges. Ann was not fired at all. She's a syndicated columnist and one outlet dropped her columns. She's still a syndicated columnist and she immediately picked up another outlet after losing the one that dropped her.

This pics pretty much represent what happened on the TODAY show this morning between Ann & Katie. Ms. Couric was well prepared for the interview, and got a little rude to Ann, IMO. I give props to Katie for doing the interview and bringing up the Eva Braun comment by Ann. On points, I think Ann could have done a better job.
But here is the thing about the whole interview: Ann should have said that the tone of the entire interview proves her point that the media is biased against conservatives.
And I have never said this about any woman - but ann needs to gain about 30 pounds. She looks anorexic - the most skinny I have ever seen her. Too skinny to be hot. Unless you dig that emaciated, Ethiopian/starving look.
To: freedomcrusader
Maybe you didn't watch the interview. I did. Couric BEGAN by asking Coulter about the general theme in her book, and then followed up challenging Coulter on some specific points. How is that evidence of liberal bias? Obviously, she selected points from Coulter's book that she considered to be incorrect, such as Coulter's intimation that Couric had called Reagan an airhead. Couric denied it, and said the transcripts proved Coulter was wrong. Couric read portions of the transcript. On this point, 80 percent of the viewing public had to believe Coulter had slandered Couric.
What was your point?
To: BuckeyeForever
My point was that Couric showed evidence of liberal bias IN HER INTERVIEW WITH MORRIS merely by focusing on Morris' calling Reagan an airhead. Furthermore, "Reagan is an airhead' was NOT one of the colcusions of his biography of Reagan. It was his first impresssion, stated early in the book, and the subsequent pages were spent showing that impression to be false. Have you read Ann's book? Does Ann specifically claim that Couric called Reagan an airhead, or does she say something different? Either way, Couric's interview with Morris reveals her liberal bias.
Couric's interview with Coulter was typical liberal fare - she attacked the messenger (you got fired) and lied (Ann didn't get fired - her column was dropped by one out of dozens of publications that purchase it in syndication).
To: BuckeyeForever
Deal with it. I am always amazed that some people actually end posts this way. Do you realize how this makes you come across?
Then you proceed to tell everyone here how right on a previous thread about Couric being a prepared "journalist." Sure, she was prepared. Couric's and NBC's credibility was actually on the line here, and not some ridiculous cooking segment or an insult-the-intelligence-of-the-audience-stint-again regarding Lesbian Single Parents of Vertically Challenged Women of Color. People were acutally watching this time, and they knew it. I will agree with you that the producers and staff of NBC probably stayed up with Couric nights to make sure she could hold her own with Ann. She still hid behind her rapid fire, change the subject, "I am doing the interview here!" bag of tricks, didn't she?
This is what was posted in #109.
well first katie brought the book "dutch" and how the today show portayed reagan as an airhead which katie denied
If you wish to post the exact transcript, be my guest, but it will still remain that Couric was attempting to split hairs and avoid the truth.
What Couric said in the 1999 lead-in to the interview with Morris was that MORRIS called Reagan an airhead
Really?
What is obvious to anyone who wishes to be honest here is that Couric did that cheap quote as an introduction to the Today show to slam Reagan. Read the post here where Morris actually denied it in his interview with Couric in 1999, and then Katie gets to repeat her slanderous question again, just to get her claws in.
Your post insinuated a kind of "Johnny Cochran" logic. So, if the quote don't fit, we must acquit?
No. Couric proved Ann Coulters argument today--in spades.
