We have a great opportunity here to change some minds and get the word out about our corrupt leadership in Nashville. This is especially critical since our legislature is determining whether or not Tennessee will slide down the trash chute of socialism with the forced raising of an unconstitutional income tax. In East Tennessee we have two bastions of liberalism (UT-K and UT-C) surrounded by the most conservative part of the state. Definitely choice targets for counterprotests and FReeping.
Here at UT-Knoxville, we are constantly bombarded by liberal Progressive Student Alliance nonsense, and it is only made worse by the fact that the good guys have no voice (The College Republicans all seem to be majoring in Miming). Friends, we have been silent for too long. Let's take up the example of the CA, NY, and DC Chapters, and kick some serious lefty tail! It's up to us, folks.

We need to choose an executive and two leaders to get a our own password-protected private forum. The floor is open for nominations and voting. Please reply and/or bump if you are interested.
There is NO reason that we shouldn't be the loudest, most organized voice in East Tennessee! Let's try and organize some local FReeping action as soon as possible.
Let's Roll!

I here in middle TN but will gladly be watching and cheering for you guys.
I recently came across an interesting blog site for the Knoxville area you guys might not be aware of
http://www.southknoxbubba.com/ skblog/index.html.
There were some interesting employment statistics for the Knox county area that were pretty scary - 74% of the people were employed by the local, state and federal government. This makes it pretty hard to fight an income tax.

I have never seen a ping list for Tennessee. How does one go about registering one?
To: TN Republican
I nominate Constantine XIII for the executive. Our student activist needs to be thrown some red meat.

Roane County bump... an organized voice to counter the quarterly Y-12 protests would be a good thing too, IMO.

Heh heh, thanks! Let's keep it going...
bump!!

We've been together about 6 months here in Houston and it is a blast. It was so nice to actually meet face to face with fellow FReepers. Not only do we have monthly meetings, but we also get together frequently for dinner or drinks. Here is what we are doing this week...
Houston Activist Team
Having our own FRN forum is great - we use extensively. Getting - and keeping - members is just about the hardest part and we did have some growing pains at first, but we have finally settled some. Best wishes and welcome to the FreeRepublic Network!

Shiite! Just heard that Shoemocker is going to close down the school after this weekend. What a load of...grrrrrr.
Like it isn't obvious that he's trying to get the student's and the left-wing-nut proffessors and parents into the fight.
You know, just about everybody here taking classed paid money to be here. Could it be considered a breach of contract to end the summer term this early? Maybe he'll think twice.
Even though our chapter isn't together yet, are there any freepers who could come to a protest tommorrow night? Knoxville hasn't had any anti tax rallies that I know of, even though there are plenty of people in the county stewing over it. I could make flyers...
Well, anyway, thanks for the support everyone! :o)

Deans, Directors, and Department Heads:
President Shumaker's open meeting with faculty, staff, and students in the University Center auditorium tomorrow (Friday, June 28) will be webcast. Please inform the faculty, staff, and students under your direction that
they may go to this URL at 2 p.m. to view the meeting on-line::

I just got this a few hours ago on my UTK mail account. I plan on being there. Don't know if we need permits to protest, though, but I sense that there will probably be plants in the audience to ask questions.
Shumaker is a big supporter of the income tax.
Here is a map of the UT campus for those who want to come Freep the Fuhrer:
