The following email is being circulated to our members by various disgruntled former FReepers:

Subject: The Future of Our Free Republic

Dear Fellow Free Republic Member,

Many of us at Free Republic are distressed by the extraordinary level of censorship that has been so obviously going on. It is very obvious that individual posts, entire threads, and the entire work of members who have been highly regarded are disappearing into a Memory Hole.

Scores of us have organized an e-mail network that is independent of the communication controls presently, and sadly, being used at our Free Republic. We have carefully documented the unmistakeable evidence that most of the posts, threads, and posters that are vaporized completely are overwhelmingly targeted for their political stance on the Right. These are not Leftwingers. These are not even Middle-of-the-Roaders. These are not disruptors. These are not foul-mouthed delinquents. These are fellow patriots on the Right who disagree with the controllers of FR on specific issues that are now hotly debated by the Right. We have documented that FR will parade before you, as if to hide all of the great posters whose work has been destroyed, a straw-man delinquent that has been banned. This is deceptive.

Treating these fellow patriots on the Right so shabbily is not right. As shabbily as those banned into the Memory Hole are being treated, the most shabbily treated of all are all of the good folks on Free Republic themselves. We came here for honest debate. Free Republic advertised itself as a Forum for honest debate. Without that honest debate...everything at Free Republic becomes shabby.

We can do much better. As a measure of how intense the simmering feelings have gotten among members on this unjustifiable use of deleting, censoring, and banning please link to the following thread. You will notice that one simple and sincere plea from one of our finest members has spontaneously touched off a prairie fire of approximately 500 posts in a mere 18 hours. If it isn't Memory Holed this thread may shoot into the thousands.

If you would like to receive anonymous updates of information concerning the hundreds of Freepers who have networked via e-mail to restore the wonderful honest debate to Free Republic, just drop an e-mail of just one or two words if you like for extreme brevity to:

I consider myself to be a sane and rational person, Jim...and the thought of Gore being President was no more distasteful than young Bush. And my reason was and is the continuation of the Republic.

I had the 'luxury' of playing ball with the GOP back when I ran for office and was 'up close and personal' watching the goings on and dealing with leaders in the GOP when I worked for the State Senate, and when I worked on the campaign of the GOP's early candidate for governor, so perhaps I have a little more or different insight into government than you, or perhaps many others.

What everyone, or I should say many, seem to forget is that no one wants to be for a loser; there is no joy or pleasure in being in a position to say "I told you so" (even if one wanted to say that).....RINO doesn't merely stand for Republican In Name Only.....Republic In Name Only is what I'm fighting against. Guess we all have a different idea of how to get there---I just haven't figured out yet how continuing to dig the hole deeper and deeper is gonna get us anywhere near the top of the hole so we can somehow pull ourselves out.

Mom, I gave up with these people. I am not going to fight a small group of malcontents on an internet chat forum. My energy is better utilized at my local level, fighting my local liberals. We need to control the Senate and house or all is lost. If that happens, we can kiss our Republic goodbye.

Only more damage will come from a liberal house. It's scary to think that. God was looking out for our great nation in November 2000. We have got to continue where that defeat left off.

I don't like "nuke em all" comments either but get real. We have 6 times that many at Gitmo and many hundred times that many killed in Afgan. So don't give us that "only a 100 are against us" .

The vast majority of FReepers have never been banned, never been suspended, never had a post pulled, and never had a moderator send them a warning message. " Your only "bad" argument, Jim. If: "The vast majority of Americans have never been shot or killed by the FBI or DEA, have never been unjustly accused of a crime, nor have had their property confiscated by the government for unConstitutional purposes"..... This must mean that there are no problems to worry about.

Are you equating banning of racists, etal to FBI or DEA killing, property confiscation etc??????????????????

I just want to set the Democrats back for about 40 years instead of us wandering in the wilderness for another 40 ourselves. Make the liberals suffer for a change. I don't think so, Senator. For a while, I thought they were going to, but I've learned to live with them.

I do think that when it goes public a lot is going to change. But even now, I have to say that it's been a growing experience for me to learn to put up with the lunatics.

I can personally vouch that Jim Robinson is not waging a personal vendetta against these posters. I once sent Jim an e-mail in response to a pulled thread in which I was complete jerk and even attacked his character (this is when I was in the fellowship of stinkin' legalists) and I'm still here (am I tempting fate?). I'm ashamed to say that I never repented to Jim for this unChristlike behavior. Since I did it in secret, perhaps my repentance should be in public. Please forgive me Mr. Robinson (although you probably have no idea who the heck I am anyway).
