With the Marine Corps at its greatest buildup then, for Korean combat, Women Marines freed men for their primary role - to protect our Republic and its ideals.

How proud I am of YOU, First Child!
I'm so glad Kevin is back and you had a chance to get together to reminisce about Alaska!
Canteeners, while this is an old photograph of my 6'5" 'baby' when he was a policeman, he now is a Physician Assistant, and a Professor teaching wannabe PA's at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, working on his PhD.
The Civil Service Snow Bunny mentioned stems from the fact in June of last year - before 9/11 - he volunteered to be on a South Florida Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT).
It is a federal program to deploy medical professionals to disaster sites - floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. and he was scheduled to go to Ground Zero last November, to care for the ones working in the rubble.
Because there were enough teams in the Northeast they stood down, but he is on call 24/7.
(If he responds to YOUR location, should you be in need, give him a hug for me!! LOL)

Oops, left out the "y" in "your". DOH! I can keep your secrets. Promise!

Hi MedProf, thanks for stopping by. We're so glad to know you and your mother both. You need to come by more often. Your mom would love it. Isn't today great? Your mom deserves this. :)
Thanks for the pictures too.

2/3/68. What an interesting birthday you must have had this past year.
To: SpookBrat
Thank
you. I wish I could "tune in" more often, but I haven't out how to add more than 24 hours to a day :). Besides teaching, volunteer work, and family, I'm working on a PhD. Someday, I swear I'll have a "normal" life (but my wife doubts it!).
Thanks to all of you who freely show compassion and love to others...

Well, I'm in Florida so I sure will hug him if I see him (no offense, but I'd rather not see him if he is responding to a disaster).
My husband is a P.A. too! He spent some time in MedProf's neck of the woods after Hurricane Andrew helping out down there. He was a Firefighter/Paramedic at the time... Small world here on Free Republic! GG

Loving is easy. :)
Hey, I'm not far from you. I'm in Jacksonville. I wish we could get your mom this way. (You're the one in Gainsville right)?

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film. LOL great one liners! I left the lens cap on my photographic memory at birth!...These were kind of Steven Wright... My favorite is:
I put INSTANT coffee in a Microwave oven and was transported backwards in TIME...

Yeah, my birthday "hoovered" last year. I'm going to get my Italian Cream Cake this year. I better, or else.
Happy belated Birthday! You're old!!!

LOL! I'm ancient compared you you!! I'm ALREADY 34 and you're still 33!
Well, hopefully this year you'll have a happy one. It will be solemn, but I hope a celebration of the American spirit!
One of these days, I'll get on board with the dollz--I may need you and Misty to give me a tutorial. I know the troops like 'em so much!

HI, EVERYBODY!! I know.....my timing stinks!!
Thunderstorms are knocking out my satellite, I'm trying to upload a video to my Website, and I've got to go to work in a little while..........BUT
I've got to say a few words about the dear lady we're honoring today:
THE LadyX and I became acquainted way back when the Reminiscing Thread was going on and on and on.
She has been a stalwart cyber friend since that time.
We have fought many cyber battles together, and I can tell you that no where on God's green earth will you find a more faithful friend, a more compassionate soul, and a more dedicated patriot than this great lady!
The love of God, her family and this great country are the rocks this lady holds onto in her life.
In this day when we need heroes to hold our lives together, we could find no better one to emulate than this great lady.
I SALUTE YOU, LADYX!

I guess you're a little north of where Andrew was then!
My husband's a UF PA school grad as well. I'll freepmail to you avoid too much personal info. on the forum... GG

Cobby, that's a beautiful tribute to a beautiful Lady!
I, too, am being plagued by thunderstorms (here comes the rain again--the pool's overflowing again!)
Going to run, but I'll be back later. I have a huge pile of laundry to fold and put away, and that slipcover still isn't complete. See you soon! GG

Thanks, Cobby - need to break off for a while to go vote in the state runoff election, but want to thank you for your sentiments.
Hey! Corps sticks with Corps!! LOL
Be back in an hour or so to make replies to those I've not yet - especially you, FWI.
Safe journey, Cobby...send smoke signals from South Texas..:)))
