At least he is an honest disruptor

I don't think he's a disruptor, but rather, one of the many conservatives who are NEVER happy. He's pissed off because the speech he though was coming turned out to be totally different! It is so completely pro-U.S. and pro-Israel, yet he still thinks Bush is cowtowing to Arafat. I say BALONEY!

Good work today, Mr. President. You fooled the media, the Democrats, the entire Arab world, and half of your supposed conservative base even went along with it!

I've continued to give President Bush the benefit of the doubt, and he continues to come through. Maybe these armchair freepers will come around to that knowledge at some point, but I'm not holding my breath.

So when does a community of people numbering in the millions become autonomous, notwithstanding the issue of terrorism? Never?

Demostratably false.
Did the Japanese commit terrorism agains the Us after 1945?

Arafat fcould have had a country if he had not chosen violence in 2000.

Well...he said what I told you he would. He offers the Palestinian people help in forming a system of self-governance. He tells them to overthrow Yasser and put a leader in power who will represent the needs of the people, rather than his own interests.

But the Bush bashers are gonna go on with the "HE'SSELLINGUSOUTSELLINGUSOUTSELLINGUSOUT" BS, and they will still have no idea what a genuine offer was made to the oppressed - by Yasser - Palestinians, so that they can achieve freedom, if they are willing to work for it.

Hey, it could work. Of course, I could win the lotto tomorrow, too. But at least his offer to the Palestinian PEOPLE was made in good faith. Don't forget that.

"You based all your attacks of late on the media's portrayal of the impending Bush "Palestinian state" speech."

As you can see from some of the replies, a few of them are STILL doing that. (They must not have read the whole transcript)

OK, having had a little time to digest the speech, I see what you folks are saying. It is a harsh, direct speech, but one they needed to hear. It truly is up to them to make it happen, it always has been. I imagine in time when the Arabs let this speech digest, they will not be very pleased. I am happy he did not succumb to Saudi pressure.

Today, Palestinian authorities are encouraging, not opposing, terrorism...

I've asked Secretary Powell to work intensively with Middle Eastern and international leaders to realize the vision of a Palestinian state, focusing them on a comprehensive plan to support Palestinian reform and institution-building...

Diagnosis is correct, but the medicine is too weak and the doctor is sick...

You left out one thing... The Japanese still have a nation, even though we conquered them. Did the Japanese lose their right to their own state? No. Why shouldn't the Palestinians become autonomous, after the terror ceases and negotiations work out the details?

You really are deluded, aren't you? The so-called 'purple kool-aid' ticked off? Dream on 'deluded one'! I'm beginning to think some of you GW bashers are desperate for attention. It doesn't seem to matter whether it is positive or negative; just any attention, at any cost. You have nothing to add; you just want to pin something negative on the president, anything to get a reaction. Isn't it time to grow up, now?

Yep. President Bush just lobbed a speeding curve ball right into the laps of the terrorist leaders. Check! PRICELESS.

People who are set on trashing Bush don't WANT to listen.

Bush drew a line in the sand. He had to provide an outline for the Palis to follow so he too would not look like what the Palis accuse (falsely) Israel of being.

Anyone lacking wisdom and/o set on their own agenda (mentioned above) missed the meaning of his message. He is supporting, 100%, Israel.

That's entirely up to the Palestinians now. It's time for them to suit action to propaganda. I wish the Palestinian people success in their quest to discover, define and OBTAIN freedom.

Yasser....well....he can rot.

In view of the eternal word: "I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat and I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; they have also divided up My land." (Joel 3:2). It looks like president Bush has placed America in a terribly bad place, as appeasers of terrorists and dividers of the land given to Israel. It is politics and the fear of man, over the fear of the Lord, the same old sin of former administrations.

How can you possibly explain that this is NOT coddling of the Palestinian terrorists?

Please read the prerequisites for a Palestinian State. There is no way the Palis will do what is required, therefore, there will be NO Palistinian State. That is not coddling terrorists, that is playing hardball.

This moment is both an opportunity and a test for all parties in the Middle East: an opportunity to lay the foundations for future peace; a test to show who is serious about peace and who is not. The choice here is stark and simple. The Bible says, "I have set before you life and death; therefore, choose life." The time has arrived for everyone in this conflict to choose peace, and hope, and life.

When placed into context with the entire scripture the President was referencing, that statement has a much clearer and more precise meaning.

Deuteronomy 30:11-20 (NIV)
11Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 12It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"
13Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, "Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"
14No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.
15See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the Land you are entering to possess.
17But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.
19This day I call heaven and earth as wtinesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Bump for a great President in the making.

Excuse me, but I believe we are not to be using obscene language on here! You seem to be terribly bold! Not only that, I have a hard time believing that you ever supported him. But hey, I wasn't there, so I have to take your word for it. I just can't believe you could support him, then so suddenly turn against him.

I supported him too. I sent money for his campaign. But I still support him. I am aware that people can have legitimate disagreement with him. I believe he has done a lot of what he promised, or at least tried to get it started. I'm willing to give him time. I read his campaign positions pretty much through and through.

I think that there is a lot he'd like to get done, if he could. But since our Senate is so closely divided right now, I don't see where he'll be able to get a lot passed. Like Jim Robinson said, we need to work hard, and get the extreme leftist judges, activists, and politicians voted out. I'm not a complete prude, but if you write to me again, and use that vulgar talk, I'll speak to the moderator. This is a conservative site. I thought that such language was out of line!

Govt. needs to come out and say why they are being used as pawns

I don't think so. I think everybody knows what he means by that. Spelling it out would be a waste of breath and it would piss off the Arab countries even more.
