"I loved that quote from the Bible. Could someone please post it?"
"The Bible says, "I have set before you life and death; therefore, choose life." - George W Bush, Rose Garden, 2002
I have set before you life and death; ...therefore, choose life, that you and your descendents may live. - Deuteronomy 30:19, the Old (Hebrew) Testament
Good, huh ?

Name the time. I am just as smart as you, and I can talk MILES faster.

In the few months I have been on FR I have gradually learned not to believe everything I hear at the start. Have to admit that things seem to be following a specific plan and so I will keep my yap shut until the "End game", If you told me a few months back that President Bush was in fact headed in this direction I would have discounted it right at the start. I am still disheartened with his stance on "Open Borders", but I will assume for the moment this administration has a plan, which might also include getting enough Congress/Senate critters, American Citizens peeved off enough to get legislation passed designed to close the sieve we call our Borders.

So, as you see it, everyone's a pragmatist. If you're not an anarchist, then you're a pragmatist, right? No. You can press your case and your agenda incrementally, but that's different than signing liberal agenda items into law with little or no movement toward the conservative agenda. Actually all politicians are.
Anyway that's not the point concerning you.
JMO, but you, Rush, and Hannity are spitting mad because you seem to be left out of the loop and aren't being worshiped by those in the administration. Like I said that is my opinion especially with your vitriol on this thread.
BTW, you worked in the Reagan Justice Dept, how come you the principled conservative of all principled conservatives didn't put out a policy stating that the 2nd amendment is an individual right?

I guess you left out the word "hardball" from your opus by mistake, or was that deliberate? Read what I wrote again. Hardball is being played.Do try to catch up now.

You know, when I do see you on TV, I just love the way you scorch the liberals. But I find it rather offensive that you are treating your "FReeper family" the same way.
Is it possible for you to make your points, with us anyway, without insulting people left & right?
I usually agree with you; today I don't, but I'm not sure quite why because you've been unable to articulate your opinion sufficiently in between slinging slurs.

If you dump Arafat... If you stop blowing yourselves up... If you straighten up you internal mess and clean out the corruption... If you start behaving in a civilized mannar... I agree with this characterizaiton. But it's such a PC way of saying what needs to be said which is that the notion of a Pali State is histoir.

I think you should reread the posts. The first shots were not mine, but if people want to engage that way, so be it. I like Miss Marple, but her TV and radio comment, like yours, was intended to insult, and it did. You shouldn't be surprised by the reaction. Incidentally, I count myself every bit as much as a Freeper as you -- even though I'm on TV and radio, as you so astutely noted earlier.

"I think the Anerican people know what needs to be done, and they're way ahead of the politically correct leadership in Washington." Sure we Americans in all our townships, towns and cities know what to do. At our level. But at the most important coordinating level, and the national (not federal) level the legs and arms are asleep. Everybody expects that the all-knowing Federal Behemoth at Master Bush's beck and call has things well under control.
That when big trouble comes that our Federal G-men will be there to guide us out of the flood of it. But they are not up it, they can not be, they don't see things from botttom up, but top down. They race to protect themselves. For us we aint't nothing but a convenient field trip away from probable targets.
We are set to learn the hard way. May we survive it.
G-d help us learn quickly and with minimum discomfort.

The Israelis should be free to defend themselves now. How many more ultimatums and false peace agreements must there be to make the point? wake up and smell the terrorists! We wouldn't tolerate any of this, and we shouldn't insist that the Israelis tolerate it. I am still is shock, but read the speach. The Israelis just got everything you (and I) were/are asking for.
If you don't believe me, just check the response in Israel, and in the Arab world. Ariel Sharon is jubiliant. The Arabs are outraged.
This is a chess game with the end game now revealed. Arafat was just told that he and his cronies had to be replaced. Even a child can foresee that he/they will not go willingly.
Surprise, surprise: The Israelis surrounded Arafat in his compound again today, just a few hours before the President's speach. Over the weekend we had lots of leaks about how we now have the military resources in place for war in the Middle East.
Could it possibly be that we have a strategy in place? It looks to me like we thought a few moves ahead in this game.
BTW: President Bush closed by saying it was time to choose life, or choose death. He hoped they would choose life. That is an ultimatum. The Arabs will understand.
As we said in my Air Force days, "The fit is about to hit the shan."

If you're still out there, Amelia, this guy makes the point. Rush, Sean and I are out of the loop so we're spitting nails? This is about the third stupid statement this guy has made. Again, reread the posts.

Well ... I have found my new
business ... having had to sell my be
loved one ...
I swear ... I am going to use Miss Marple as a witching rod ... if she is willing ... only we will not be looking for water 'neath the ground ...
Noooo ... instead ... we will look for and find angst ... angst ... angst ... angst ...
I do not understand how this reasoned ... civil, informed ... dedicated ... strong and honest woman can so often bring out such vitriol in some ... such unrequited angst ...
Why she comes back for more ... is beyond me ... though I am a happy little capitalist and am trying to figure out how to cash in on this mystery ... kicking some back to Miss Marple, mind ... for I am fair AND happy.
I will disagree with Miss Marple on a number of issues ... and the conversation educates us both ... but ...
Well .. off to find a cart I can carry her about in ... as she signals angst and knee-jerk behavior straight ahead ...
I'll get rich ... and be happy and fair in the process ... HA!

Enjoyed your post.
Its funny, but many people seem to develop patterns. With the Clintons it was watch out whenever they accused someone of wrongdoing, because that meant that they were about to be outed for committing the same sin. With GW Bush, it seems like he always takes a bit to methodically assess the situation, publicly gives the opponent a chance to make right, before bringing down the hammer. Oh sure, the conditions may be so high and difficult that he knows going in that they won't choose to meet them, but it publicly shows that he isn't acting rashly, and that he gave them a chance. Remember how he gave Afghanistans conditions that would avoid war? When it comes to major decisions, he often frames it where the opposition is forced to chose, and we are simply reacting to that choice.
Too bad the Axis of Eeyores around here routinely fail to discern this. Or do they chose not to?
To: Amelia
I'm putting you in the cart with Miss Marple ... and
off we go!
Seriously ... I am glad you thought the same thing ....

I disagree. They know that the US will hit them.No one that wants to survive in the Middle East can go against what the US wants. But can a POTUS say that to a global TV audience? C'mon.Let's be grown up about this. He's not talking to the guys in the bar in your neighbourhood, but to the millions living under tyrants throughout that region and those that want change to hear that a US today will support that desire for freedom. And the first step is the removal of the PLO and a democratic regime to take hold.Good going.

Our position in the Reagan administration was that the 2nd amendment applied to individuals. I keep hearing that this is the first time in 40 years that the Justice Dept recognized this fact, but it's not. The issue never came up back then. There weren't cases requiring the Justice Dept's intervention. ... You continue with your flailing away at Reagan ...
