According to Joe Hadenuf: Official Free Republic Position Parallels GOP On Immigration. No Big Deal
6/23/02 | Joe Hadenuf

Posted on 06/23/2002 12:52:24 PM PDT by Joe Hadenuf

Last night during a conversation/debate between myself and the leader/owner of the Free Republic, Jim Robinson, a rather stunning revelation was brought forth. I asked Mr. Robinson, which Republicans were vocally backing, and supporting Tancredo in his fight for our sovereignty? After some delay, Jim answered, “I have no idea. Immigration is not a big concern of mine.”

This is from the man that runs the most well known, and respected, political conservative internet forum in the United States? And Mr. Robinson resides in California?

Below is the exchange

Conservatives, Cut Bush Slack The Chicago Sun-Times | June 22, 2002 | Thomas Roeser

To: Jim Robinson

#939: Oh, so the Republicans are fighting for our sovereignty? Besides Tancredo, which Republicans are these Jim? If you could be specific.

#1034: Which ones are not ?

#1056: You never answered my question Jim.

Since you failed to answer my question, I will go first.

Given thirty years of this open border, immigration "free for all" that has resulted in many millions entering our nation illegally, I believe there are very few Republicans, or anyone else in DC, besides Tancredo, that are visibly and vocally fighting for our national sovereignty.

Now would you care to tell me which Republicans are standing with Tancredo and voicing outrage against this titanic, never ending invasion of illegal aliens?

At first I as was stunned, angry, and felt let down. Then after some thought I wasn’t too surprised.

Looking back at all the hundreds of immigration threads where many were deleted, disappeared and sent to the cornfield, I guess I am not too surprised. However, given the gravity and danger this country faces regarding this out of control, titanic immigration issue, I am still outraged, disheartened and saddened by Mr. Robinson’s response. Thread after thread Freepers have displayed genuine outrage and honest concern regarding this issue. And the outrage and insanity regarding this issue goes far beyond the Free Republic.

It’s escalated to the point now where many of our major cities in this country, such as Chicago, have now approved the use of identification cards, issued by Mexican consulates that will give illegal aliens access to financial and public services and more, as our so-called leaders stand treasonously silent, as our sovereignty is slowly dismantled.

This massive invasion of millions of illegal aliens has changed the face of many of our once great cities, from California to Illinois, to Georgia, to Tennessee, to Texas etc etc.

They are crowding our already over crowded classrooms, voting in our elections, choking off our social services, driving down the wages, while driving up our taxes, filling our jails, standing room only in many big city emergency rooms, etc, etc, etc. I personally know of six American citizens that have become victims of illegal alien crime, from having family members slaughtered on our highways by drunk driving illegal aliens, to stabbings, robberies and common burglaries.

And just recently, another young Deputy Sheriff was shot through the face and killed in California by an illegal alien, that has again fled back to the safety of Mexico. It has now been learned that this individual has already been deported three times, each time he has returned and committed more crimes in our country, leaving American victims in his wake, and each time he fled back to the safety of Mexico.

There are many forms of terrorism, and this continued invasion of millions upon millions is one form. And it's my opinion that it’s one of the most dangerous, most threatening issues facing America today. Even today as we speak, our federal government continues to allow in almost 8000 Middle Eastern men a month on visas. It is my opinion that this legal and illegal “immigration free for all” must be, stopped, extremely limited, and reformed immediately!

Again, I am extremely saddened and distressed by Mr. Robinson's response and lack of concern regarding this issue.

Perhaps none will agree with you but that is okay. At least they may do some thinking on their own and just perhaps some have learned something.

Well, I must say that this is certainly about the most civilized thread dealing with this issue that I have yet to see. Jim, I think your being here facilitated that considerably. I know I certainly appreciated your input and I'm sure others did too.

Well, it's not the immigrant who is the problem, it is the liberal give away program. I partly agree. But it is the immigrant who votes for socialist liberals for their give-away programs that will make it impossible in the future for us to get back the House of the Senate. Jim, the battle of the electorate is being lost because the "enemy" is getting massive reinforcement in the form of immigrants who vote Democrat.

I agree, and I too thank Jim for being up front, regarding his position on this issue.

"My primary concern is the liberals/socialists taking complete control of the country."

This is exactly why I agree with Joe that getting immigration under control should be our number one priority.

The majority of legal and illegal immigrants are fiscal liberals and for the most part social liberals.

We can't reach and win voters to the conservative side of the issues, even with your great website Jim, as fast as liberals/socialists can enter the country illegally.

Bob Dornan thought he could vote for the amnesty of '86 and win the newly naturalized citizens and future immigrants, in his district, to the conservative side of the issues. He was wrong.

Bush is going to find out he's seriously mistaken, too.

We need walls along our borders and the military on those walls. We need to start deporting the liberals/socialists before we lose more Congressman like Bob Dornan.

I changed the title because it is not the Official Position of Free Republic. It is your opinion. I did not want you misleading the readers. The title field is not long enough so it truncated. I will see what I can do.

Having read all the posts on this thread before I throw in my 2 cents, I wish I could believe in the idealism of Jim Robinson (vote the rascals out). Having been a conservative (economic, political and social) since 1964 after reading Barry Goldwater's book "Conscience of a Conservative," (when he was thinking straight) and watching Reagan's "The Speech" (in support of BG), it will take some cataclysmic event to make the ballot box meaningful again IMHO - just look at the 2000 election! Do you remember how YOU chose the candidates and the fiasco in Florida and other states?

A STRONG Third Party like Perot's at the beginning of the 1992 Election could be the catalyst. But, having voted for 50 years of Presidential Elections - I have witnessed the situation getting worse - not better - and have lost almost all hope for that as a solution. It WILL take a "grass roots" effort of massive and organized proportions to unseat the Republicrats. (No, I don't believe the Republicans will return the country to constitutional and conservative governance. Sorry.)

Regarding immigration. Read Buchanan's book - "Death of the West." He has it right for both Europe and the U.S. If any of you have ever traveled in a foreign country, contrast their handling of alien foreigners (you and I) with the way we do it in the USA. I know I was closely checked and was terrified for what might happen if I might lose my papers. We COULD handle aliens the same way here if we had the will.

How can one live in Fresno of all places, and not be concerned with immigration problems?? Giveaway programs for illegal immigrants probably suck up 90 percent of our local tax dollars, and this doesn't concern JR?

Well, he stated that immigration is not a big concern of his.

And I too am surprised, given his state of residence.

Well, if they have a right to vote they can vote for whomever they choose. Can't help that other than by trying to educate and motivate them. Immigration has been with us since before the days of our Founding. It aint going away.

Oh.

Don't worry about the rest of the missing title Jim. It's no big deal at this point.

Another one of those assertions that is just put out there, without any documentation.

You assume they are not paid under the table. And I don't mean just migrant farm workers. Even illegals employed in liquor stores and in chinese restaurants are paid off-books under the table and therefore pay no taxes. Underground economy and all.

Well, I don't want to mislead the readers. In retrospect, I should have titled it:

"Jim Robinson's official position parallels the GOP on immigration. No big concern".

My next thread will be much more accurate.

Thanks.

Somewhere on this thread there is a discussion of how the people of California tried to get control of the issue, but it was thwarted by a liberal activist federal judge. Then in the last few days we've had additional discussions on what is happening to our country because of the liberal activist judiciary and we've had discussions on what should be done about. I think many of us agree that the liberal activist judiciary should go. I propose that the only way this can happen is to retake the majority in the Senate so Bush's judicial appointments can move through. There have been a lot of objections to this. Seems the Libertarians, Buchananites, right-wing conservatives, et al, do not want to elect Republicans, so I guess we're not going to receive much help. We can argue about this stuff until doomsday, but it's not going to do us any good as long as the Democrats hold the power.

Since JR is not a racist, immigration is not a huge concern of his. Neither is it of mine.

With that type of attitude (liberal brainwashing), you are part of the problem.

Well Jim, I don't profess I have the numbers. You are undoubtedly right that liberalism is in control in California.

My concern is 90%+ of immigrants vote liberal. We must turn off this flood of new voters. Then and only then can we begin to educate the remainder.

Thank you for your response.

You are dead right they count. But a democracy depends on numbers. You only need a 51% majority in your state to elect the representatives you desire. I am not discounting that many retirees, welfare recipients, single parents, working poor and others want a nanny-state to care for them. I am saying we have a chance to win back our rights but if we keep allowing a flood of new immigrants to add their electoral strength to those already here, then indeed we will NEVER win back this country.

That is what I am saying.

Rep. John Culberson is a great guy, I really admire him as well as Rep. Tancredo for their stance on the immigration issue. I have been unhappy with the Republicans lately, but I will vote for them this year, especially as there is a Senate seat up for grabs here in Texas. But, if Dubya does win his Congress and Senate and still pushes through an amnesty, I will be very disappointed in him and will not vote for him or those that help him pass an amnesty.
