President Bush and First Lady Laura hosted the first ever Presidential Fitness Challenge today in Washington. The President and White House staff participated in a three-mile run, while Laura joined the mile walk. Bush finished 26th with a personal best time of 20:29. After finishing the race, the President said he 'felt great.' Tomorrow, the Presidential fitness weekend will continue with another game of tee ball at the White House. Had the same thrill from a friend who just never bothered to become a citizen but was always voicing opinions. Finally I talked her into becoming a citizen and personally registered her to vote, made a copy of the registration and gave her a special flag that was decorated with ribbons. Did a special celebration on the day she cast her first vote. Would be fun to have a limo pick you up and ride to the polls with champagne and then go to lunch or whatever for the continued celebration. It's thrilling! Good luck.

YOU said IT!!!! and VERY WELL......I agree with you - I believe President Bush is doing the best he can with what he has (split Congress, War, idiots in the press, etc.) I, too, remember 1996.....I wrote a 2-page, single spaced letter to friends and family trying to warn them NOT to vote for Clinton - I am sure I was considered "weird" at the time......but, obviously, I've been vindicated. (And, I've NEVER once said "I told you so.") BUT, I DO believe we HAVE to have the CONGRESS controlled for the President's party before he/we can really do ANYTHING - and we get nowhere beating up our own......I don't agree with everything the President has done, but, like you, I will NOT disagree in public. Just what the media needs is people "unhappy" with their President - especially a Republican one....NOT me, nope.....no way.....the media gives me the incentive to keep my mouth closed, and to only speak positive things in "public."
