I would nevah! call you a yankee! My sincere apologies...
How's it goin', True? I've not seen you on line in so long. You've been missed.
Perhaps a little too progressive for this preachers taste, yet not quite progressive enough not to get ones nose broken.
So preaching the bible is an "emotional assault"? So anyone at a church service can sue the preacher if their feelings are hurt? Should a preacher be required to submit all sermons to the government to ensure political correctness?
"Could you show me where in the Bible it says that this guy in Georgia who just died was a drunkard and a fornicator."
So, only those persons who are listed by name and address (Do you require a zip code or SSN too?) and has his sins chronicled in the bible have sinned?
"Then show me where it says to say that to his family at a funeral."
Show me in the bible where it says that a preacher is to speak falsehoods.
"People like you give Christian fundamentalism a bad name. "Little Suzie, your Dad was a bad man, and right now he is on fire and the Devil is poking him with a pitchfork." While she is grieving the recent loss."
"And you are on his side."
I don't believe I claimed the title of "Christian fundamentalist". I do believe that preachers are called to preach the Word of God regardless of whose feelings are hurt. Do you have a problem with that?
Quite true, but I don't believe the post article included whether this individual was "saved" or not. I'm quite willing to assume the preacher knew that being a drunkard and a fornicator would not prevent the man's entry into Heaven.
Regarding Your Post # 44 on this thread!
Your Comments Betray You.
Nice to know that you are a Member of Good Standing...
In the "Church-i-anity" Crowd.
Lighten Up A Bit Dear.
This didn't happen in all of ChristianDumb...
It was an ALL IN THE FAMILY THING!
If they were members of his church, I would first throw 'em out formally--then tear 'em up with the law.
I do hate to say it but I found this thread hilarious but I do think that the Pastors behavior was reprehensible.
He did not rightly preach God's message. He declared a man went to hell for commiting sins. The Gospel says that all people sin. Even the saved and born-again. Sins do not send one to hell. If they did, EVERYONE would be in hell. Read the Gospel before commenting on it.
No preacher has to tell me about hell, I am already here!!!
Truth be told, I love the south and I also love the North. Unfortunately, we have fallen far from what we once were. YEs, the South is the butt of many jokes from the sissified inhabitants up here.
However, I dont see a lot of love for us from you all. I dont blame you. I just wanted you to know that not all Yankees are brain-dead sissies.
