I got FReep mail from a FReeper named bluesagewoman who lives in or around Columbia, Missouri. She and a group of FReepers have been holding Support Our Troops rallys in their area since last September. They have been taking pictures of their FReeps but haven't been able to post them and asked if I could add their pictures to our rally thread.

Here's a little part of what she told me:

"We have been countering since last September when the peaceniks seized upon the 9-11 attack and turned it into another one of their platforms to blame the U.S. Over time, several folks who are not FReepers have joined us. The peaceniks are across the street from our location."

"We've been there in snow, cold, and now heat. Our crowd has ranged from 27 to 2. Mostly, we are not appreciated by the more liberal types in town, but other times are encouraged with waves, thumbs, honks or bagels."

"We have had our moments. The very first week a young, pregnant woman with a small child walked past our entire line and shook each person's hand. She stated her husband was "over there" and that was all she could say through her tears. We knew what she meant...she didn't have to say more."

"Another time, a Purple Heart recipient exited his car, looked at us and asked, "What the he!! are they thinking?" We assured him we couldn't figure that out. The next week one of our posters read, "A veteran wants to know what the he!! you are thinking." Unfortunately, the peaceniks didn't understand it was a rhetorical question and proceeded to lecture us on the true meaning of patriotism."

Below are a couple of pictures that show these fellow patriots FReeping the Columbia, Missouri peaceniks. Freepers in the photos include: Zip, Mrs. Zip, Dogrobber, BlueSageWoman, and TheRightWingConspiracy. (Special thanks to Reborn for her moral support and cheers.)

Thanks for sharing, BlueSageWoman!

Great pics you've shared! (I LOVE the pacifist signs) I'll have to post this on the Missouri list..or at least see if it's been done yet.

Thank you for the "plug". I am sending a copy of an email I sent to BAW on the 10th. It recaps (briefly) our Memorial Day FReep.

Bluesagewoman. This is somesthing I posted a couple of weeks ago. I wish that I had also written a letter to the newspaper.
ANTI-WAR FL TEACHER ON FOX, INTERVIEWED BY BILL O'REILLY! [Discussion thread here]

These anti war (see: Anti American) types don't have a clue about reality. Dogrobber, Bluesagewoman, Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, myself, wife, granddaughter and others have staged an anti anti-war protest in Columbia MO every Saturday for a long time (I'm the short timer - only a few months). Just saw a copy of the Columbia Tribune report on the Memorial Day parade and was ticked off big time. Out of 31 sentences, 14 glorified the Anti American left and showed a paid, full time peacenik receiving an award from the veterans against the war. I had a misconception that Memorial Day was to HONOR American veterans, not pinkos. At least they printed our picture waving the "support our troops" sign. Bluesagewoman wore a neat poppy print dress and had a sign that thanked the vets which received many, many "thumbs up" and verbal thank you's from the parade participants. It was kinda neat when I received the salutes from our honored vets in the parade. Makes the FReeping worthwhile.

Dogrobber wrote a letter to the editor of the ultra liberal Columbia Tribune concerning the pro peacenik article on Memorial Day activities and it has resulted in several responses about how patriotic the peaceniks are even though they wave the PA flag, call President Bush and killer and terrorist, Israel is the aggressor and on and on. I really appreciate Bluesagewoman and Dogrobber. They've been there in the cold, heat and rain.

Again, thanks for letting us use your thread. Zip

What a cool report!

Thanks for letting us know about the Missouri FReepers! I like the vets rhetorical question "What the hell are they thinking?" I've also asked that question myself!

The students from the college are home for the summer, so I guess peace group won't have a pool to recruit from.
