I genuinely believe that.

Sure he could lose my vote if he went off the deep end, but I don't see that happening. His Mexico policy came as no big surprise to me since I'd watched him as Governor. Like California, Texas needs another amnesty like we need a hole in the head. In general I'm very pleased with him, but not in this matter. I'm one of those nuts that would like to build a big fence on the border with some strict rules.

The truth is that we took "northern" Mexico by force and made it into a host of states.
(I've been to Nevada....they can give it back.)
I think the justification was Mexican raids into Texas which was now independent but under the care and guidance of the US.

So long as the new states adopt our Constitution and Bill of Rights, I have no problem with the United States continuing to expand. I wouldn't mind seeing the United States adopt the Constitution and Bill of Rights... :-(

And Gore will be very happy to have you on his side.
Boogah boogah!
Get something straight, my vote is mine, not the GOP's.
I don't owe George W. Bush anything, he works at our pleasure.
Any politician who takes my vote for granted risks losing it. If he does, he'll have no one to blame but himself.
If you're scared about Gore, maybe you'd better take some of the concerns many of us who voted for Dubya in 2000 more seriously, rather than sending these boogie man threats. They aren't much in the way of coalition builders.
Or, maybe you'd prefer the GOP repeat the mistakes of 1992?

As a New Mexican, I am going to see my legislator tomorrow and ask him the same thing.

BTW, isn't there a verse in the New Testament that says in a nutshell that God hates lawyers? Luke 11:46, KJV:
"And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! For ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers."
A Biblical scholar once told me that lawyers are the only profession specifically condemned by name in the Gospels.
BTW, it's interesting to see all of the "Aztlan" nonsense finally being exposed to the light of day. I was a student at UCLA from 1978-83, and an employee at a think-tank there from 85-92, and got to see the rise of this sort of *American West Bank* mentality first-hand...

Mexico will ultimately reabsorb the Southwest. Demographics is destiny.I see much truth in this statement by quebecois.
The solution to this invasion is obvious:
1. Deport ALL illegal aliens NOW.
2. Build a wall between the United States and Mexico that will make the Great Wall of China look like a white picket fence.
3. If people from Mexico would like to immigrate to the United States, then let them apply for citizenship just like all other LAW-ABIDING immigrants have.

Amnesty is my deep end.

Your history is correct. Changes nothing, unless it goes in front of some judge.
BTW folks, refresh my memory, didn't we buy part of Northern California from Russia? Russia did have a few small trading and exploration colonies on the coast. And we made the (for whatever God-forsaken reason) Gadsden Purchase of part of Arizona. Purchased, not conquered.

Thank you Mikal. :)

Actually, he has a better case on Cal and Az than on Texas. Texas became independent following an internal revolt of its own citizensCalifornia was declared an independent nation following the Bear Flag Revolt and then annexed by the USA.

Truely sick people. I'm afraid we'll be 'celebrating diversity' from behind fortified lines. People like this will NEVER be satisfied no matter HOW much is given to them

Give them Southern Cal, Southern Arizona, and we'll throw in McCain and a RINO to be named later for free. But never, NEVER Texas. The State of Texas could kick Mexico's a$$ in a battle. Heh.
Never Texas huh? Look like one of your neighbors could use some help. You best start kickin ass.
Hey Joe, here is one Texan that is bothered by the millions of illegals in Texas. We're flooded up to our necks in illegals in this part of Texas, and I've hadenuf! Deport them all now, and throw in the illegal alien luvin' Texans as well if they love them so very much.

Well that's what I figured. I always liked and admired Mr. Buchanan for many things, but I didn't think he had the experience or the temperament, to be a national leader. Now that doesn't mean he's not smart, he's a very intelligent man, who is really good at what he does. I share some of his views on some topics. But as a national leader; some people have it, some don't. I'm sorry, but that's my opinion.
But some of his supporters on here, are something else. Don't get me started on that. You support who you want, I'll support who I want, ok? Now do we understand each other? I sure hope so!

Then Spain should take back Mexico.. Wasn't it theirs before the Mexicans declared independence?
I have been saying for awhile that eventually we will start to hear terms like 'Occupied Territories' right here in the USA.
