"Is there are spanish word for "intifada"?"

I suppose by now the answer's already materialized, but what the heck.

"La Reconquista Aztlan", comes pretty close in both word and meaning.

Yes, it is laughable. I sure don't take it very seriously. There is something about Fox I absolutely don't trust. Our relationship with Mexico is one of the things W and I don't see eye to eye on. I have a hard time understanding W's position given he's lived most of his life in Texas and knows firsthand the problems that desperately need to be corrected. Can I still be a Bushbot?

I just got this email response from signing a petition the other day. I assume Tancredo's petition has been all over FreeRepublic but it couldn't hurt to post this again.

Viva! Liberte!

AMERICAN PATROL JUST GOT A CALL FROM CONGRESSMAN TANCREDO¹S
OFFICE. THEY THANKED US ALL FOR OUR SUPPORT AND SENT THE
FOLLOWING PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: LARA KENNEDY

JUNE 21, 2002 (202) 226-6999

CONGRESSIONAL IMMIGRATION REFORM CAUCUS' PETITION TO
PRESIDENT OVERWHELMS WHITE HOUSE EMAIL SYSTEM

White House Inundated with Petitions; Americans Want Troops on U.S. Border

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, today announced that the Caucus' petition urging the President to immediately deploy troops along the U.S. border has overwhelmed the White House email system.

"Perhaps the White House is finally getting the message," said Tancredo. "It's about time they realize that the people of this country justifiably feel that the U.S. border is a sieve. It poses a real threat to our security and ignoring this fact represents the most egregious evidence that the federal government is shirking its responsibility to the people of this
nation."

Since Rep. Tancredo posted the petition on Tuesday, June 11, 2002, approximately 11,403 petitions have been sent electronically to the White House. Due to the overwhelming response, the White House email system is overloaded. To sustain their email system
operations, the system is sending an auto-reply to each petition with a "service unavailable" warning.

They will take Arizona without firing a shot. Thanks to your Federal government.

And with the blessing of people like John McCain. I was listening to Bill O'Reilly's radio show a couple of days ago and McCain was running scared of Bill. Bill wanted him as a guest to discuss McCain's sponsorship of a bill that would cover the health costs of illegals. McCain, of course, refused to discuss the matter with O'Reilly.

I missed Hannity and Colmes tonight, but will definitely stay up for the repeat later tonight.

No, you'll have to convince yourself of an implausible excuse for Bush's actions toward Mexico first. And it has to contradict everything you just said.

Sorry, that's how it is.

"CONGRESSIONAL IMMIGRATION REFORM CAUCUS' PETITION TO PRESIDENT OVERWHELMS WHITE HOUSE EMAIL SYSTEM"

Thank you fuzzy122, it is going to take the people, serious people, to get our president to understand where we stand on this issue. I still remember the words he used after one of his speeches, they were not his words, we all know who uttered them "LETS ROLL". I took what our president said to heart, he has got to talk to us.

Ok, Smarty-pants! And just who do you want to replace him, hmmm? Have anyone in mind? You Bush-bashers are amazing. You always wait around, sniffing these threads; waiting to find just the right article. Then you find one, perfect for bashing. But you won't propose someone to replace him. You also would have to find something to impeach him on, then have a trial. I think you'll have a problem though. Not too many people would go along with you.

You're beginning to sound like the poor, misunderstood liberals who keep on fighting the election. Life's just tough when you're a poor humble Bush-basher, Boo hoo!!!

How many Americans of German descent do you suppose stayed up drinking to root for good old Germany? How many want a hyphen?

This American of German descent woke up early to watch the game and rooted for the USA. In the days before the US vs. Mexico match, I saw a lot of cars around here with Go Mexico painted on them with shoe polish. I felt like taking a black marker and writing back to between those two words, lol. If they love it so much, go the hell home.

Nope, guess I can't play then. This position on Mexico baffles and angers me. I have no problem with foreign aid to help Mexico develop economically, but do have a huge problem with an open border. I'm a fairly pragmatic person and realize there will probably never be a President who is in perfect lockstep with my personal political agenda. W and I aren't in sync on this one, but I'm not throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm waiting to see a gang of leftist lawyers show up in the Hague, D.C., and the UN with briefcases in hand and American dollars in their Swiss accounts. I don't see a war or fighting at all. It will all be stolen in a massive litigation of some kind. That is how I think it will come down. It sounds ludicrous, but considering what has been lost in the past to 'legal' wranglings, do not be surprised.

BTW, isn't there a verse in the New Testament that says in a nutshell that God hates lawyers?

What a war there will be if someone tries to hand over Texas to mexico! Texans take no bull from government types, and they sure are not going to hand over their land!

Texas fought & won independence from Mexico. While there was some argument over the Rio Nueces vs. the line Rio Grande -Rio Bravo (del norte).

That was settled, along with cession of NM, (current) AZ and CA, in the 1848 Guadalupe Hidalgo Treaty plus 15 million dollar payment for Mexican property claims.
Everything was consolidated with the Gadsden Purchase in '54 (?) The Mexican Congress ratified both the peace treaty and the purchase, their claims are zero, nothing left to talk about.

Pragmatism's fine, but let me ask you a couple of questions...

Is there no way Bush could lose your vote? No position he could take where you just say "nuts to that?"

If not, if you vote is totally in the bag for him, what leverage do you have? He can ignore you and still get your vote.

Speaking for myself, I'm opposed to much of Bush's domestic agenda as outlined in his State of the Union address. I'm very opposed to his fetish for Mexico. My vote was in the bank for him, then it became his to lose. Still is, for now. But it's shakey.

California can't take another Amnesty. If he pulls that, he loses my vote.

He wants Texas, Cal., Arizona

Actually, he has a better case on Cal and Az than on Texas. Texas became independent following an internal revolt of its own citizens. That has long been recognized as a legititate means of establishing a new government/nation.

Cal & Az (Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico also, I think) we TOOK from Mexico after Winfield Scott handed Santa Anna his hindquarters on a platter. Since the Mexican War was fought over the enlightened cause of manifest destiny, Mexico might just find some court willing to hear their complaint.

That court might even call for a referendum.

I don't to may Scotsdaleites or LoxAngleirons are gonna vote to be wrapped in the warm loving embrace of stout, but poverty-stricken, Mother Mexica.
