Please read the opening sentence of the article or post #27

It also mentions your observations later in the article.

I doubt the highlighting of the Vets statement, he threatened to VETO this bill weeks ago before the Vet's amendment was added. I am for the bill to assist DAV's, being one myself I receive a check from the VA each month and lose the same amount from my retirement check.

fogarty said the veto is LIKELY because of the advice of the WH Budget Office. And the veto threat did NOT come directly from Bush's mouth, but from the WH Budget Office. They do NOT have the authority to speak for Bush, their only capacity is to ADVISE. That is almost as bad as when some idiot journalist quotes "official unnamed sources in the White House". Good grief.

P.S. By your title "Read my lips", you are insinuating that this came from Bush's mouth...that is disengenuous.

Why do I have to explain this article. It is there in black and white.

In as much as some of you doubt what is being said in the first sentence there are as many who believe that BUSH will VETO this bill because of the authorization to fund Concurrent Receipt for Retired Disabled Vets.

I voted for BUSH, I've met him and talked to him, he's a nice guy, but for the life of me I haven't seen one initiative from him or his administration for Veterans much less Retired Disabled Veterans. If you know of one please let me know what it is.

As far as pointing out what he's done for AIDS, poor Housing, illegal aliens, foriegn aid and the PLO it is a matter of public record.

American Veterans are the Forgotten Patrol of the Bush Administration.

I urge you to research this website to learn more about this subject USDR.Org

And I'm not a member of USDR

Some constructive criticism:

People would take you more seriously if you did not accuse Bush directly when the article makes clear it was the WH Budget Office that made the statement. Your time would be better spent urging other Freepers to contact President Bush asking him not to veto this. Here is a link to a contact list at the White House to get you started. White House Contacts List

You need to change the title to something like "WH Budget Office Advises Bush to Veto Pay for Disabled Vets" and put it up as an action alert. Good luck.

Thanks for the advise and the link

This is a hot button issue for me. I've been fighting this fight for almost nine years.

More times than not I've gotten nothing but the run around from the Whitehouse and Congress.

See this Dirty Bomb Politics
I know it's the Washington comPost but it makes sense.
Why give your devotion to any politician based on their party or on what they say they believe in?
By nature all politicians are swarmy.
