Arafat is "chairman" or "president" depending upon who is talking about him ...

Don't forget "general".

All at once.

Sharon needs to get out of the way and let Barak or Netanyahu in.

Barak? Are you nuts? Barak is the reason Israel is in the trouble it's in right now. It was his appeasement of Arafat that brought on the intafada.

Now, Netanyahu is another story. I agree there.

How about an island, somewhere in the Pacific. Far away from civilization.

Bikini Atoll?

the nazis were a small percentage of the german population,
but we kicked the hell outta the entire country nonetheless.

israel's non-responsiveness has become pathetic,
and W's semi-endorsement of a pali 'state' is chickensh!t.

Could Israel force Jordan to accept them? The political and logistical problems would be daunting. You cannot just put bulldozers behind villages of people from infants to 90 year olds and just shove them over. How would it be done if Jordan put troops on the border and said "no"?

I agree but at the end of Barak's time, he was starting to come around and change his policy.

From Fox...

Wednesday, June 19, 2002

JERUSALEM — Four people have been killed and at least 20 have been wounded — nine of them very seriously — in a homicide bombing at a bus stop in the French Hill neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The attack was apparently carried out by a homicide bomber, said Kobi Zrihen, a Jerusalem police spokesman. There were reports that the terrorist may have been a woman.

At least four of the wounded were in critical condition, rescue workers told army radio. Three dozen ambulances were reported on the scene.

There were fears that another bomb might still be in the area.

The blast occurred one day after a Palestinian suicide bomber killed 19 people and wounded scores of others on a bus in southern Jerusalem, the deadliest bombing in the city in six years.

Israel has said it will reoccupy parts of Palestinian territory in response to such attacks.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

These terrorist attacks are "acts of war" and should be treated
as such. Can you imagine the Japanese Emperor claiming
that rogue elements upset with our occupation of Pacific islands
strapped bombs on their planes and attacked Pearl Harbor in
their frustration. These are attacks from a foreign power -- the
PA. Israel has the right and duty to respond just as it did in
1967 and 1973 -- take the West Bank and drive all PA
sympathizers out of the land.

I'm not sure. But there's this option: Cut a chunk out of Alaska and stick them there. Alaska is big and almost empty.

Well, I'm not a Jew hater and I agree with him that there are internet and external factors from JEWS that are holding Sharon back.

I think the biggest factor holding Sharon back is that he, and the Israelis in general, are civilized. The thought of what "taking the gloves off" must ultimately mean -- direct action against all Palestinians -- is repugnant to all civilized people and will remain so even if they are left with no other choice.

The Palestinian tactics seem to be focused on forcing Israel to take that fateful step.

Personally, I think Israel will never take that step. They have hinted at their likely next step, though, which would be the killing of the Palestinian leadership. I'm reasonably sure that they'll announce they've finally had enough when they kill Arafat.

Okay... I understand that and its horrific. But, Israel's policy has been land for peace... If that is Israel's goal, then they need to keep that in mind.

The real words have to come from Sharon. The real words have to come from the Knesset. The real words have to come internally.

If Israel will drop their own calls for a Palestinian state, then you may have a verbal change in Washington.

Now, that is not my policy. That is my understanding of what is going on internally in Tel Aviv as I read Israeli newspapers and government websites.

My policy would be to tell Sharon have at it... and we will stand with you. I would tell Arafat that his time has come and gone and it's time to meet Allah. I would tell the Palestinians they can have a state when they act like human beings and not animals.

Here, on these threads, we are calling for actions that the Israeli government is not ready to do because they sharply disagree. Some say you don't have peace because our armies are in the West Bank. Pull them out, you'll have peace. Others are saying... do that and we will be destroyed as a state. Israel is halt between two opinions. They have been since 1948... They need to make up their minds internally...

Larry, are you saying or suggesting that they can't agree on what to do? I might agree with that. They need to decide and be together and act, in spite of opposition. But the nature of what they are dealing with doesn't seem to allow for one single course of action, other than push the Pali's home (to Syria).

I also love CNN's continual use of "alleged suicide bomber" when reporting breaking news like this. Hmm, let's see, what OTHER freestanding explosive device would have any real opportunity to blow up at a bus stop or on a bus or in a restaurant?

Fox reporting that Al Aqsa Martyr's Brigade (you know, the ones associated with ARAFAT'S Fatah Movement) is claiming responsibility and saying that this attack is in direct response to Sharon's decision to retake land. I guess Arafat's statement yesterday about it being an invitation to violence was intended to be taken literally by the next wave of bombers waiting for their cue.

But Arafat isn't responsible at all.

>>>It is internal dissent and dissent from Jews elsewhere.
What would any thread about Jews being the victims of terrorism be without your ugly blame the Jews crap? What a bizarre individual you are.

How's this for "bizarre and ugly"?--If the predictable pattern holds, Shimon Peres will F@#! things up as usual by midnight tonight, if not before. And what needs to be done won't be, yet again. But that's hardly Larry's fault; he's not the leader of a freakfaction in a coalition government, is he?
