Whites Need Not Apply?

WHITES NEED NOT APPLY?

OK … what’s the story with Bush’s newest big-government tax-and-spend ploy. He announced this one in Atlanta yesterday. We hear that it is a program of incentives and tax credits to help low-income minorities, particularly blacks and Hispanics, buy homes. The incentives will be funded with dollars seized from taxpayers --- most of whom, as you know, are in the top 30 percent or so of income earners.

Every article I read mentions that the government agencies will be ordered to make this assistance available to low income minorities. Nowhere have I specifically read that it will not be available to whites – but that certainly seems to be the general idea.

Well – that certainly brings up questions about equal protection under the law. But the Constitution stopped counting long long ago anyway.

By the way .. if the government really wants to do something about affordable housing, start with government regulations. Remember that house you were raised in? In all probability that house would be illegal today. It wouldn’t meet current code specifications. Try this – go into any major American city and try to get a permit to build a two bedroom, one bath, 1100 square foot home. Not a chance. Not big enough. Not fancy enough. Not expensive enough. Governments don’t want inexpensive homes. Inexpensive homes come complete with low tax property taxes.

So --- make the builders build more expensive homes so that the government can collect more in taxes and then take some of that tax money to redistribute to low-income types who aren’t paying income taxes anyway so that they can buy the homes!

Nice deal!

Is Bush a conservative? Well it depends on what you mean by "is".

I can't even imagine what GW is up to with this one. Affirmative action taken to illogical limits? All with taxpayer money. This is way over the top. Even al gore couldn't have come up with something this close to socialism. All I can say is that the economy must be in much worse shape than we are being told. It's the only expanation for all this crazy government spending.

There is no excuse for this latest suprise from the Administration.

None.

It's not Conservative and, in fact it's discriminatory which is the polar opposite of Conservative.

Dubya is either trying to flat, outright buy the senate or he's a liberal puke disguised as an angel of light.

I beleive your last sentence pretty wells nails the boy.

You see Bush wants another term, much more than he ever wanted to be a conservative. If he ever was a conservative to began with. This guy becomes more of a disappointment everyday.

It's time to throw the old campassion to the wind and get back on track, as he may get a few minority votes, while losing the whole party vote.

"Compassionate Conservatism" = "Socialism"

Any day now, the Democrats and the Republicans will announce a merger of their two parties. They will cite "synergy" and "economies of scale" and promise to henceforth work together to create a New Big Government Paradise on Earth where upperclass elites and nonwhites can live happily ever after (everything paid for by the white middle class).

He's not unique. It seems they all do. Every president seems to come in with a host of ideas, but they all fall prey to the overpowering desire to get a second term, and will pander to any degree to make that second term more likely.

The program is for low income people. Race or ethnicity is not an issue.
I do wonder why some people assume that programs for low income people are directed only toward minorities. There are plenty of whites who have low incomes.

Agreed. And there are plenty of government programs for upper-class whites. It's called corporate welfare....

Yup!

It's a nice deal when we thought we were electing a conservative, only to get spit in the eye by another liberal.

Not legally no. But that is how the administration initially advertised it.

But that is how the administration initially advertised it.

They did give that impression by having minorities at the announcement. I'm never really sure whether they should stress the advantages the minorities get. Don't most people just assume that caucasians get a benefit from anything the GOP does?
Why do we have to have an "us against them" menality anyway???

If this is a stratergy to buy the senate, I'd rather he stick with principles and sell those to America. OTOH, I would guess he figured out Republicans and Conservatives have no one else to vote for in 2004. So sell out now and all be be fogotten.
