A tax break for environmental groups is being added to part of President Bush's faith-based initiative, angering some conservatives.

The provision gives a 25 percent discount on capital-gains tax to private property owners who sell their land to environmental groups or the government, instead of to other private parties.

Nope, I don't buy it.  The radical left will always oppose the right.  You've posted a link to the Sierra Club for crying out loud.  They slammed Clinton for heaven's sake.  Are you going to tell me he was a conservative too?  As for the Heritage River's initiative data, I find it rather interesting that you and several other Bush supporters on this forum are able to find answers to questions regarding rather obscure topics in only a matter of a few minutes.

Second you find the resource.
Third you copy the data.
Fourth you format the data
Fifth you post the data

This you do in five to seven minutes.  I don't think there are more than a few people on this forum that are even tuned into the heritage rivers initiative, so the idea that you've just kept that issue in the back of your mind is rather humorous.

Why would I be upset?  You didn't point out that my anti-Liberal Bush posts were incorrect.  You merely provided some information I requested via a question.  Duh!  Then you inserted a slam as if even ten out of 100,000 of Americans even knew of the Heritage River's initiative, let alone the 1 out of  ten million that might have known that a portion of it was abolished.  LOL, you sure are impressed with your paultry defense of this lame brain.

I would nationalize that organization within thirty seconds of taking office. I am fairly sure that much of it's funding is under the table government monies. And I know for a fact that it plays the bad cop good cop routine witht the feds to destroy property values thus making it possible for the NC to pick up real estate dirt cheap.

Do a little internet search using the word conservancy. There are hundreds or thousands of these NGOs out there.

He's just throwing us a few "nuggets", but, in the final analysis, this guy is a democrat dressed as a republican pretending to be a conservative while embracing the leftist liberal agenda

here's where we would disagree. I would say that the nuggets are the liberal things he has done. On Most of the big issues (missle defense, tax cuts, conservative judges, etc) He's on our side and the rats are on the other. The only important thing that Bush backtracked on was CFR.

My hot button is people who take the Either/Or view. Either Bush is very conservative, Or he is very liberal. We need to view philosophy as a percentage. No one is 100 percent conservative or liberal. Even Ronald Reagan ignored some conservative issues, and compromised on others (he agreed to two tax increases, in exchange for spending cuts.)

I never expected Bush to be 100 percentage conservative. I was expecting 70 to 80 percent. Right now, with the election plan of denying the democrats their issues. I would rate Bush at around 50 percent. And to be perfectly frank, it is far too soon to tell what type of president he will be. It takes time to judge the impact of a presidency.

The last I saw of McCAin's voting record--he voted against the tax cut and the repeal of the death tax . He votes and cites with the democrats more than the republicans. McCain voted against ANWAR. McCain is for cloning. I think you and I must be talking about a different McCAin.

Come on Laz if you recall a little American history the involvement of the State governments in land speculation and assistence to speculators topped anything you see with the program discussed.

At one time the NY legislature allowed its lands to be sold to speculators for the face value of state and continental debts which could be bought for 10 cents on the dollar. This was one of the principal reasons Hamilton's program of funding the debt met with such opposition. It drove up the price of debt and made it unprofitable to use if for land speculations.

Bringing in new homeowners is not necessarily a bad thing and benefits the community and other taxpayers in many ways.

Don't confuse socialism with the welfare state at any rate and the homowner program is certainly closer to the latter than the former. In fact, no part of socialism calls for more private ownership.
