And the first of these is with respect to a William Davis. And the parties have agreed that if he were called as a witness in this case, he would testify as follows: "I am married to Patricia Davis, who is the sister of the defendant, Timothy James McVeigh. In early 1993, I owned and operated a business known as Bill Davis Electric which was then located in my home at 11240 N.W. 27th Court, Plantation, Florida, 33323.

Is there any way to find out if there was a Gun Show at the War Memorial Auditorium in February 1993?

This may help. I can't remember my Florida geography and I'm too lazy (and sleepy) to look so I included them all. Now, does anyone know where McVeigh was on these dates?

Another dandy South Florida event is on tap this weekend, taking place at Fort Lauderdale's War Memorial Auditorium.

Yessir, we're talking gun show. BIG gun show. Big enough to make the marquee at the War Memorial.

Buy guns. Rifles. Pistols. You name it. Perhaps 4,000 people will attend.

Every time Gil Lewis hears about a fatal shooting, he cringes, knowing that people will blame guns. But Lewis distances himself and fellow dealers at this weekend's gun show from those incidents.

"We're not that kind of people. We're historians. We're keepers of the future," Lewis said. Lewis, 62, of West Palm Beach, is the promoter of the gun show at the West Palm Beach Auditorium. Unlike most gun shows, this one features primarily antique guns and other memorabilia dating back to the Civil War and beyond, he said.

LANE KELLEY; Staff Writer

Hunters, gun collectors and more than a few people worried by the recent spate of violent crime in South Florida jammed the National Guard Armory on Saturday for the Fort Lauderdale Gun and Knife Show.

The show, which also runs today, featured just about every conceivable kind of firearm, with many of the guns valued only by hunters and collectors.

Skirting the law is simple. You need look only as far as the newspaper classified ads or find an ad for one of the frequent weekend gun shows at local auditoriums. One is going on this weekend at War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale.

I think you should go stake out the Taco Bell bathroom and report back to us when the employees don't wash their hands. :-)

The resemblance between the sketches of John Doe #2 and the picture of Padilla is just too close. This deserves further investigation. Has any major news source picked this up?

John Doe #2 did NOT sit down in front of the sketch artist so he could be conveniently drawn. No, the drawing was from the MEMORY of witnesses which was RELAYED to the sketch artist. Think about it.

Excellent point and my thoughts exactly. IMO there is a very strong resemblance

I did some investigating,I found no connection between Leonard and Jose. Lana has said there is no relation. It's a fairly common Spanish sirname. Perhaps the spelling is preventing your recognition - phonetically it is Padiyah. There is at least one professional baseball player with that last name(Vicente) as well as a popular DJ whose name is also Jose Padilla.

The only connections I can see is Tim McVeigh's recognition of the name because his best friends ex-wife married a guy in Las Vegas named Leonard Padilla in 1990. This may have partly led to this supposed friendship with Jose Padilla, when they both resided in the same part of Florida in 1993-1994. Other factors such as their disdain for the government, interest in guns, etc. may have also fostered the supposed friendship.

Disregard that comment. The October 14, 1993 article was about West Palm Beach, and the October 17 article was about Fort Lauderdale.

I was literally falling asleep at the keyboard last night. :-/

BTW, I found out that McVeigh was in Ft. Lauderdale earlier than previously thought. Before it was believed that he was here only in February 1993. Now I find out that he was also here in January 1993 and probably attended a local gun show here in that month.

<< . Now I find out that he was also here in January 1993 and probably attended a local gun show here in that month. >>

Here's some documentation for that:

Not for commercial use. Solely to be used for the educational purposes of research and open discussion.

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
June 22, 1995, Thursday
Pg. 1A

'COVER' BLOWN; MOORE TALKS ABOUT ROBBERY
RODNEY BOWERS AND MICHAEL WHITELEY, Democrat-Gazette State Reporters

ROYAL -- Roger E. Moore said Wednesday that federal agents have identified some of the guns recovered from Oklahoma City bombing suspect Terry Nichols' house as those stolen from him in 1994.

(snip)

He said he met McVeigh at a gun show in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in January 1993 and again at Tulsa about two weeks before the robbery.  [I think the robbery was on 11/4/94. Some of the news articles have conflicting dates so I'm not positive. ]  He said McVeigh had visited his home and knew of Moore's gun collection.

Moore said FBI agents have indicated more arrests may be made and, to learn more about McVeigh, they are interviewing people who have attended various gun shows.

"They're interviewing everybody, I mean everybody, from coast to coast," he said. "McVeigh got around the country and went to a lot of gun shows."

Moore also said he wishes the media would focus its attention more on the bombing suspects and less on him, calling himself an innocent victim.

"I'm getting tired of this," he said. "Everybody's been driving my neighbors nuts."

Moore said some recent media accounts have been inaccurate, such as those that indicated he is a gun dealer and portrayed him as fanatically inclined and possessing an "arsenal."

He discounted a report that he has been interviewed 30 times by the FBI in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Washington, D.C. Moore said agents interviewed him only at his home and at their Hot Springs office. He declined to say how many times he has talked to agents, but said it's "not 30 times."

Let me know if you want more dates.  I have a few more in Florida for '93.

Just FYI, a lot of this information (and a few other items being questioned on this thread) has already been posted for a couple days on my Web site -- http://www.whoisjohndoe2.com

I haven't posted the names of the shows, but McVeigh attended at least two, one was at the Armory somewhere around Ft. Lauderdale (1/93) and the other was at the Dinner Key Marina (2/93 or 3/93). That information is found in the McVeigh trial transcripts available widely online.

The ABC News Website is now carrying the AP STORY about how government intelligence agencies recieved warnings that Islamic terrorists would strike at a government building just weeks before the OKC bombing. I wonder if Petah will read this story off his teleprompter tonight or will he just write it off as another "conspiracy" theory.
