Good-Bye Cruel Free Republic
6-16-02 | wasfree

Well, it's been 4 years since I first found Free Republic. I have always felt like I belonged here and have really enjoyed the banter back and forth between us members. I am afraid all this is now over. I am really suprised and shocked at it's suddenness. Before I leave I want to thank a freeper from Michigan who sent me a DVD player last year to give to my kids for Christmas. You reaffirmed my faith in humanity.

I know this thread will be deleted before many people get to read it, but I just can't go without saying a final word. Every since 911 the 'vibe' here at FR has been decidedly hostile. I guess it was a matter of time before the newbie moderator got around to weeding me out for my sometimes unpopular views. So I join the ranks of A+Bert and so many others who gave FR a interesting flavor. I will miss coming here 20 times a day and keeping up on things. But without posting priviledges there is just no point. I must go find another conservative group to try to be a part of.

In the future, when a freeper who has been a loyal member since August 1998 crosses the line, how about a note instead of banning? Would that have been too much? I may have gotten out of line, how is beyond me, but if such a tresspass would have been pointed out I would gladly have refrained from doing so again. It is just not right to just ban an account with no explaination. Especially when the freeper has been here 4 years. I have no idea what I am going to do with my days now that I no longer have FR. Well, I guess I have said my part. It is a sad day when one has to leave family and friends. I feel like some of you were just that. But apparently I am no longer wanted around here. I bid my good day to you all and hope that karma pays it's respects to those who do injustice.

Yikes! I don't know whether to be more disturbed by the offending posts, or the fact that you managed to collect them all! Good work.

Spamming the same message to different threads is a technical violation of the posting guidelines. (Witness the fact that you have it saved).

My first post that was pulled made reference to the "brownshirt" mentality of some Freepers. After it was pulled I cleaned up the post and reposted and it was pulled. So "technically" I wasn't in violation of posting guidelines!

:)

There is a lynch mob mentality here at FR that is very disturbing and reminiscent of .... well .... the hysterical left.

Guess it's all in your point of view. I see some of the radical pro-life threads and feel just the opposite - that a Republican who doesn't feel morality should be legislated has no voice here.

OK, I will have to ask. How are you banned if you are still posting?

This is how it works. If you’re banned, you can post as long as you don’t LOG IN ;-)

Wouldn't that be "magnum opus?" My quibble was with "de jure," a Latin phrase that is jarringly out of context with his thread. I assumed he meant the French "du jour," which means "daily." So the nom -- if I'm correct -- would have been "Greatest work of the day." Which makes more sense than some legal babble.

On the other hand, I've wasted far too much time on this already, so I'll let the thread survive or fail on its own merits, linguistic puzzles unresolved.

I know a guy who was banned for offering up a not so terribly controversial POLITICAL OPINION during the nightly women's masturbation fest titled 'a day in the life of William Jefferson Clinton George W. Bush.

Yup,you have to be VERY careful when dealing with the Bush-Bots. This is ESPECIALLY true of the female ones, who seem to have fantasies about Bubba-2 that are best not discussed here. I've found it helpful to add a final sentence like you will see below.

See, it's THIS kind of crap that is uncalled for. You can disagree with the President all you want. But when you miscategorize fellow freepers in an unfavorable light such as this, you deserve to be banned. What you say would be the same as me saying many male Freepers get erections everytime Buchanan, Rush, or Keyes speaks. Thankfully, I have enough tack to avoid such useless immaturity- present post excluded.

We can click on a link that gives us all of the recent posts of a user. When you read the last 20 posts he has made and find all of those in there, it isn't that hard.

There is an outside chance that this one was posting like that all along and no one noticed (he was a real low volume poster until recently), but I think he turned on a dime. Became more prolific and suddenly a bigot.

would you please define with a bit more clarity the term older accounts.

Not sure but I believe "older accounts" stop with those who signed up after freeper #1235 (MCCXXXV)

Hopefully, this isn't a bannable offense--if so, I enjoyed knowing ya all this time, sneaky!

Shouldn't be,and I've enjoyed knowing you, too! I think you are wrong, though. You need to take a closer look at the females in Congress. They ain't women, they are lawyers. They ain't trying to heal anything but their own bank accounts.

Your legal analysis is incomplete without considering this US Supreme Court case, Ex Parte Quirin, 317 U.S. 1 (1942)(finding that an unlawful belligerent need not be afforded Constituional protections despite being a US citizen).

If the Supreme Court ruled you have no right of speech, religion, or no right to own a firearm would that make it legal? Read what the Constitution says about due process and decide for yourself if this is constitutional. Personally I don't need a half dozen men in black tell me what the meaning of plain English is. Unlike Bubba I know what the meaning of is IS.

You should change from GOP to Libertarian

I don't think he was ever GOP. Check his last 15/20 posts.

LOL! What I always wondered about those threads, is that normal FR rules don't seem to apply. Normal rules simply dictate you stay on topic. Now, if the thread is called "A day in the life of President Bush", then anything Bush said or did that day should be considered "on topic" and appropriate for that thread. This, apparantly, is not the case. Just admire the pretty pictures, and shut up, I guess.

You are SOOOO wrong. If you look closely at each daily thread, the day in the President's life is summed up- no matter what he did, signed, etc that may be unpopular with Bush supporters OR haters. For example, the day he signed the CFR bill, I reported on it. What people posted in response to that, whether they agreed or disagreed with it, was posted and discussed. It's the hit and run poster who bring crap up from months ago that has nothing to do with the days activities discussed in the thread (see my profile and look up the thread called 'The Day the Daily Dose Went to Hell in a Handbasket'.) Another example is days after the whole 'flip-flop' crap over the environment was over, a disruptor posted crap about Bush. Is this 'on-topic'? No- not for that day it isn't. There have even been freepers who've posted pictures of Nazis saluting Hilter on the daily dose. Now you tell me, is that on topic?

Pretty pictures? Yeah. Sure. But we also discuss the events of THAT DAY. And if freepers want to engage in civil discussion, then there isn't a problem. But history of the Daily Dose has proven that those who present opposing viewpoints do so in a way that is neither civil nor respectful. And when you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.

Seems to me it's a double-standard when someone cries foul about being banned for saying stuff, yet they have no tolerance for those who may not share the same views.

Anything otherwise then you would be guilty of the unforgivable transgression of not marching in lockstep. :)

His death in his 70's was not related to lightning. He committed suicide and was said to be distraught over the loss of a woman.

Now,THERE'S a MAN! Hmmmm, lightening=electricity=batteries? Do I really have to be the one who says it? Ok,ok. He IS the Dura-Cell Bunny!

Y'all will have to excuse me for a while. There are supposed to be thunder storms this afternoon, and I have to go buy a lightening rod to hold.
