The Israeli massacre in Palestine: American Responsibility, Arab Humiliation!

Lead editorial, translated from the independent Beirut newspaper "as-Safir" 25 October 2001

By Talal Salman

It is not an exaggeration or a desire to go into hysterics to consider the United States of America, and its current administration, directly responsible for this massacre that Sharon is committing on Palestinian soil with a declared resolve in which reliance on "state terrorism" as official policy is reaffirmed.  Ariel Sharon is emulating his "big brother" and copying him.

Before George Bush began to pursue his war it was already announced that both "brothers" the big and little one had their Bin Ladins - a description of reality that likened the Palestine Authority President with that fugitive outlaw wanted by American "infinite justice," and cast the shadow of Afghanistan and the internationally rejected government of the Taliban on Palestine, its people and its intifada that has not yet arrived at the point of declaring itself a "war of independence".

Even before the assassination of the racist minister with a life history steeped in blood, Ariel Sharon had unleashed state terrorism to its furthest extent, assassinating with missiles, killing with artillery and bombs, destroying houses, burning harvests, trees, and memories.

Before the assassination of the minister who had for so long been a subordinate and supporter of Sharon in the execution of massacres in Palestine.  The Israeli army had knocked down the "borders" of the Palestine Authority, overstepping all the letters of the alphabet (A, B, C etc.) [i.e., the degrees of relative Palestinian autonomy] storming the different areas and spreading death in every direction in this land already washed in its blood.

Before the assassination of the minister who had gone from swimming in the blood of his victims to making propaganda for tourism in a land forcefully expropriated from its owners, the new American administration had noisily declared its refusal to interfere directly to stop the gradual grinding down of the Palestine Authority and the killing or rather the systematic assassination of leading cadres of the Palestinian people and their sacred intifada, and to this moment it has refused to meet Yasir Arafat despite all the hope, devotion, and blood he has already given.

The excuses that the American administration has made and continues to make to justify its "inability" to pressure Sharon are very old and worn out.  They range between funny and insulting and in any case they demonstrate an open contempt for all the Arabs and not only for the Palestinians.

The treatment meted out by the United States of America to the Arabs can be described as scornful, nay, humiliating.   It has no esteem for them nor does it consider them to be of any consequence even when it is in need of their "cover" for the US-led international alliance that is perpetrating its wrongful war against the people of Afghanistan.

Ariel Sharon is "succeeding" in Palestine by means of his war against its nearly unarmed people, destroying their cities and villages in what could be described as a reduced image of the "successes" scored by the United States naval fleets and ground forces in their systematic destruction of Afghan cities and villages including the hospitals, electric power stations, and water purification systems - already limited in number and capacity.

At the moment it appears that the American decision to keep Israel outside the international alliance was not merely a disgusting show of "good will" for the Arabs but intended to enable Israel to keep its hands free and clear to kill Palestinians, destroy their limited and poverty-stricken "institutions," beginning with the seats of its "Authority" and ending with little workshops, not to mention homes and marketplaces.

Sharon affirms to the Americans his "historic" theory that the Arabs are a delusion and only a delusion.

The Americans - with their disdain for the Arabs, contempt for their honor, and scorn for their claims about pan-Arab unity of feeling, the common ties that bind them together, their single cause, etc., -- are renewing their reliance upon Israel as a tool for disciplining the Arabs on their own land, having already adopted Israeli theory about the Arabs.

For their part the Arabs are confused about how to declare their devotion to the American administration, about what practical means to use to help it in its
war against "international terrorism" albeit from outside the "international alliance" that the "noble eagle" is leading.

The Arabs are more responsible for this Palestinian blood that is being shed than are the Americans, according to the nature of the case.

They have given up the minimum level of a common or unified stance and broken up out of fear or a desire to get out of their skins and join up to a world that rejects them, abandoning the cause that once was their sacred bond.

Sharon butchers the Palestinians with an American knife, and in the shadow of what looks like Arab collusion.

If the Arabs have not affirmed the importance of their role and ability to influence, negatively or positively, such exceptional situations, then when will they be able to establish their presence even as separate states, if not as one nation; even as parties with vested interests, if not as the bearers of a faith and principles; as victims of what is going on, if not as brothers with fellow feeling for their family members who are being murdered, the bodies of whose women, children, and men are being strewn about on the plains of Palestine . the holy land?!

I only wish there really was a massacre and that we could share the credit for it. Maybe someday. To hope, per chance to dream < sigh >

"It is not an exaggeration or a desire to go into hysterics to consider the United States of America, and its current administration, directly responsible for this massacre that Sharon is committing on Palestinian soil with a declared resolve in which reliance on "state terrorism" as official policy is reaffirmed."

What tripe. Is it not the responsibility of Arab national leadership that indoctrinate their people with HATE that eventually lead to September 11?

"Ariel Sharon had unleashed state terrorism to its furthest extent,"

I love how Terrofat apologists for HAMASide love to use the word "terrorism" to make Americans think their side is right. Sigh.

"The Americans - with their disdain for the Arabs, contempt for their honor, and scorn for their claims about pan-Arab unity of feeling, the common ties that bind them together, their single cause, etc., -- are renewing their reliance upon Israel as a tool for disciplining the Arabs on their own land, having already adopted Israeli theory about the Arabs."

No no no no no no no no no no no no no. Americans do not hate Arabs. There are Americans who form their ideas on what they see, loads of fanatics burning Israeli and American flags, wildly beating puppets of President Bush, chanting, and eventually blowing themselves up TARGETING men, women and children. Or the sheiks holding 'Jerry's Suicide Bombers' Telethons. If you think Americans are disgusted at such animalistic behavior, then you're right on. But most Americans don't have some hatred of arabs because of their religion or skin color. It's their REGIMES that indoctrinate ignorant masses into hatred. There can BE NO PEACE

"For their part the Arabs are confused about how to declare their devotion to the American administration,"

I'm really sure this is the case. Probably, they could help our war on terror by inciting the Israeli/"Palestinian" conflict, and refusing to host our bases to fight a tyrannical dictator. They could perhaps ship 50 tons of weapons to Israel's enemies, or even teach their children to hate the United States. They could perhaps demand changes in America's foreign policies, through attempted intimidation that they are the reason that the "Arab Street" hates the US. Perhaps they could cheer in the streets when 3,000 people are killed on our soil.

The blame is not upon the people of the Arab nations, nor people of Arab descent. The blame lies squarely on the feet of the GOVERNMENTS, THEIR STATE CONTROLLED MEDIA, and their HATE FACTORY religious schools. With friends like these, who needs enemies?

I resent this entire article, but especially the reference to the war being Bush's war. This is OUR war, every single right thinking American is in this war.
This idiot makes a mistake thinking differently.

Excuse me? WHAT HONOR? How do you honor someone who cons a kid into strapping on explosives and blowing himself and dozens of innocent people up? How do you have honor for a man who values the lives of children so little that he's not man enough to perform the normal manly function of protecting women and children? How do you hold a "man" like that in anything but contempt?

Any of your "crack" reporters care to interview any Afghanis about this? Maybe talk to a few of the girls begging to get into crowded classrooms to finally be able to learn something again vs. being treated worse that cattle? Maybe the people who can laugh out loud again without being arrested? Maybe a few women decapitated for being seen without a closely relate male? (Ooops!! Too late for that interview, I guess!)

I don't see Lebanon electing the ousted Taliban leaders to run their country. I am sure you can persuade them to come there pretty cheaply!

What was the name of this paper, ass-Lickir? It is articles like this that are the true source of Arab humiliation!

It is a vile, ugly, putrid, evil religion which teaches that God smiles upon mass-murder suicides.
F all the people who preach this malignant form of satanism. The sooner they are dead the better for all mankind.

First. What no barf alert?

Next. What about blaming all the Arab countries that already chucked their a$$e$ out... in some cases brutally like the Jordanians did. Kuwait does not want them there, ditto for Saudi Arabia. Why do fellow Arabs not want them there? Because they are like troublesome little kids with ADHD and guns. When the Palestinians grow up maybe they will be able to get somewhere. Until then they are just a national pain in the rear to the world.

Finally. What idiots they are. We are easy to get along with. Don't bomb us or our friends. Don't do things that cause us to have to spend money and raise taxes. Don't make us even have to even know you are there as a group. Make something we want to buy, or make your country a spot we want to visit. Hundreds of small countries have done this and live very good lives on our dollars.

Play like a good citizen of the human race and your kids will be able to study here, our universities will spend money studying there, and our companies will decide to erect factories and millions will flow in. If you need our attention sometime, then threaten to cane one of our brat kids who vandalised a statue or something while in your country and our press and government will give you your 15 minutes. Other than that, you be you, and let us be us and quit being such destructive children.

Other smart SMALL countries of the world have made a very comfortable living and place in the world doing that. No you can't be us, or more important than any other country with under 20 million. That is not so bad. After all if you are making money off us and not making yourselves part of our military train scenarios and planning that is a good thing in life.

Push their A$$ to Jordan, and take their land, once and for all.

Jordan has already kicked them out.

People that I know here in the US remind me that literacy throughout the Muslim world is low. That means at most half the people can read and write.

Combine low literacy with state controlled media in virtually ALL Muslims countries, you have the raw material for propogation of false claims, incitement to believe false things, and incitement to violence.

Usually one looks to national leaders, elected, crowned or whatever, to cause a semblance of sane behavior by the populace. It is taking a long time, to determine who "is with us or against us" in the war on terrorism.

Authors Pipes, Emerson and others equally well versed warn that around 10 to 15 percent of Muslims are in support of the radical, militant faction. Islam is both a religion and a political philosophy.

Bush and his diplomats MUST put each nation on warning, that any state involvement (and I include permitting incitement) will be viewed as a hostile act, met with appropriate response. Bush should tell Tony Blair to round up the mullahs doing incitement in their mosques.

Free speech has boundaries in the US, correctly, for the bad consequences it can generate.

Arab humiliation is largely self-inflicted, due to a cowardly moral foundation. When did you last have a muslim people, rise up against a dictator, and fight for their own freedoms and rights?

Most places with freedoms, have a just moral foundation, and they also have a population brave enough, to have demanded, fought and died for those freedoms, at some point.

These easily led cowards, forever shift blame for their poor condition, to some external non-muslim source. The truth is their poor conditions are entirely due to their own shortcomings. Islam is the problem.

Radical Islam is only a part of the overall problem. Either they get their acts together, or a lotta muslims are going to graves, methinks.

In fact, I don't see Lebanon doing much electing at all, being that they're occupied by the socialist dictators in Syria. I wouldn't take any "free" publication from Lebanon seriously...books unflattering to the Syrian occuppiers are banned...see: www.israeltodamascus.com.
